  1. AS the others have said different brands will fit differently. Just try on as many as you can. You'll know when you have found one that fits correctly! He is right about the twisting though, I have been always told by many a biker that if you hold your arm out straight and twist it, the armour in the jacket should move with it to an extent. It'll mean that if you have an off, your arm wont twist and not be covered by the armour and hence your elbow getting ripped to shreds!
  2. I have the xr1000 after the extremely bad decision of getting an AGV k3 which felt like there was no padding in at all. Love the shoei, extremely comfortable and the extra room around the ears is excellent as your hears don't get flattened!

    Wax or Oil

I was thinking this as well. I was recommended to use wax instead of lube for the chain. Not sure what the difference is to be honest apart from wax leaves white crap all over the sprocket and frame!
  4. Where do you fix it though? Just some cable ties round the handlebars or something?
  5. Not to sure about the sat nav but I'm pretty sure you won't find a waterproof one for £150. They are around the £200-£300 mark i think. What I use at the moment if i absolutely have to is the car one and just put it in my pocket, not ideal but good for quick trips. About the helmet, there are loads of solutions. A new fog free visor, Fog city inserts, Pinlock (the best, not sure if they do them for AGV though), sprays, waxes, masks and there are probably more. Sprays and waxes can be good if you get the right ones but you have to keep redoing the visor. I had an AGV and the visor was fog free and never had a problem with misting up but many 'fog free' visors do fog up. I use pinlock on my Shoei which is faultless and never ever ever ever fogs. The cheapest and best for an AGV (as i dont think they do pinlock, i may be wrong) are the fog city inserts. Give em a google.
  6. Probably bes to change it if there's a gouge in it. The bit that protects you is the polystyrene inside that compresses when the helmet hits something and absorbs some of the shock and the distributes it around the rest of the helmet. If there is a gouge in it, then change it.
  7. Did your head hit the floor or did you just land in the bush? If you just landed in the bush then I reckon youd be fine but if your head had any contact with something solid, replace it.
  8. I dont see why they can't be. Just get a visor with the holes in as a guide. Get a good drill and get to work =). It may crack though...it doesnt seem like that kind of plastic though.
  9. Don't mean to highjack but i just bought a black visor today. You ever been pulled up because of it?
  10. Thanks for the help! Tried doing it this evening but my multi head screwdriver wont fit in the space unless i take the fairing off. Off to buy some alan keys tomorrow then!
  11. I don't think there are, my mate had the same problem. In the end gave up and bought the pinlock system.
  12. Is there a way to adjust the gear peg on bikes? Mine seems to be quite high so I really have to strain to flick it up with my heal still on the foot peg and my ankle aches like hell if I'm riding for quite a bit. Just wondered if it's possible to move the peg angle down a bit? Thanks for any help
  13. If you usually take a backpack with you, may be worth looking at the Kriega r25 or r35 as they both have back protectors built in and are awesome bags. The smaller ones may have them in too, not quite sure though.
  14. LOL! Woops! Didn't realise I hadn't put local DEALER Although you could just go to the local and drown your worries about the light.
  15. Im taking a stab in the dark here but i am guessing the oil warning light means you need to top up your oil The engine one could be anything really, to the best of my knowledge (which is not much so correct me if i'm wrong) bikes don't have catalytic converters. It could be anything I guess, take it to your local and get it checked out.
  16. Fit and comfort are the most important things. I have made a huge cock up with my helmet, as a first timer I too thought it was all about make and bought an AGV as had heard they were the best cheap helmets you can get. But after a couple of weeks i have found it so uncomofortable. Barely any padding but for the cheeks, it moves to the side whilst doing lifesavers and leaves massive marks on my forehead. Have been trying on shoeis and arais and they feel a lot more comfortable and fit better. Just depends on your head though. I know people with AGV and say they wouldnt get anything else as they find it more comfortable than the more pricey helmets. Just try a few on, try moving it arounf on your head, ensure it doesn't shift too much and keep it on for a minute or so whilst in the shop. You may feel stupid but I wish I had done that when I bought mine.
  17. My bikes a right pain to get the steering lock to engage. With mine, you can push the key too far in and it wont let you lock it. Maybe if you try turningg the key whilst puching it in from the top slowly. That's what i have to do with mine!
  18. Ive just been reading some stuff on the internet. Apparently AGV do only one shell size in this series. Maybe thats why! Oh well, i spose it's there to save me as opposed to look good.
  19. Hey there, I am a new biker and managed to get a good deal on an AGV K3 at the MCN London show, about £30 off. I got a size small and it seems to fit perfectly, squeezes my cheeks a bit and is tight on my forehead and does't come off when I try and pull it from back to forward with the strap on. However, it just seems to LOOK too big. Im quite small, about 5ft 7inches and a reasonable build. I don't know if this is because of the shape of the helmet or it's just that I'm not used to wearing a helmet but it looks a bit awkward. I know I'm not going to get a normal answer as i realise it is a bit of a stupid question . Did anyone else feel this way when they started riding? Or have I just got a strange helmet? Thanks
