  1. I completely agree about it being done to make riders safer (although im glad i passed mine when i did) but dont you think that a 30mph swerve in the wet is dangerous, shouldnt be practised due to the high likliehood of injuring yourself and therefore shouldnt be made to do it in the test in wet conditions? Isnt a swerve like this used in emergency situations and the likelihood of anyone coming off, whether it being a relatively new rider or a rider with years of experience, high when the road is wet and travelling at 30mph? i just think the compulsory speed is needless and examiners should use their discretion as was done with the emergency stop in the old test.
  2. Everyone saying that, "the pupil should be trained up to the standard needed" is bull. It takes huge amounts of time to become fully adapted to wet conditions and it is not always possible to practise these conditions, if at all possible. i think the minimum speed is crazy, surely the rider should be riding at what he/she feels comfortable with (within reason) as this is what they would be doing on the road!

    Do you nod?

I selectively nod...never to couriers or pizza boys! Purely for the reason they dont nod back or think i am crazy
  7. All the best! I want a detailed report when you get back, got mine tomorrow
  8. Good luck dude! let us now it goes, i need all the help i can get for wednesday!
  9. Have you had a look at the Caberg Trip? Looks pretty similar. If they havent been approved as safe for uk roads then i wouldnt fancy coming off with one on. Remember that in america it isnt a legal requirement to wear helmets at all, so i dont know what you mean by the fact that they meet standards there. Personally i wouldnt touch one with a ten foot barge pole if they arent approved. If you're gona wear a helmet, you might as well wear one that does the job.
  10. Thanks sp will have a look! Is there a general manual just for all bikes with basic stuff in? as there isnt one specifically for mine
  11. Sorry for my ignorance but is the switch normally like a little pin towards the base of the lever on the inside? (will try to post a pic of it if i get the chance)
  12. Ive only just noticed that my brake light doesnt come on when the front brake is squeezed unless squeezed extremely tightly. Was just wondering if there is anyway to adjust the sensitivity of the light, in the way that it comes on when the brake is only lightly squeezed? The brakes are AJP on a gilera sc125/derbi gpr 125. Any help would be great! Thanks
  13. Ive got the Kriega R25 rucksack and couldn't live without it! The harness system is brilliant, it spreads the weight quite well so your shoulders dont hurt! Ive carried my laptop in it in the pouring rain a couple of times and it has never let a drop in. You can also tack on some expansion packs from kriega if you need more room i think.
  14. LOL! I did worry about the title of the thread but after seeing one earlier that was "a guy that gave me a good service" i didnt think this was anywhere near as bad!
  15. Yeah I spent AGES with a guy in the local shop trying them on and he said that a small wa sthe right size and it felt right. fitted snug on the top of my head but not tight and it squeezed my cheeks. I think it maybe because i have used the neck tube over my face ever since ive had it so it has made it loser. Ill give em a wash and see. If not ill fork out £20 for some new pads to see if that makes a difference.
  16. ahhhh yes i do mean larger I meant smaller as in to make it smaller
  17. Ive had my shoei xr 1000 for about 5 weeks i think, and use it everyday. Due to it being a bit chilly i always put my neck tube over my mouth and nose so it covers the bottom part of my face. But now it's got warmer i don't really need to do that anymore but i have noticed that the helmet feels a lot looser now. I can get two fingers down by my cheek! Has this happened to anyone else? Is it simply fixed by just buying some smaller cheek pads? Thanks
  18. Just googled it and it is on the new test that it is 7.5 metres. I think from another thread you said you were doing the new one right? It's under exercise 4 on the link below Oh and id say your measuring is about right, probably about 3 spaces. One way you could do it is measure your foot and then pidgeon step along to see http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/advic ... EPI-106777
  19. I think that is FAR too tight. It is 7.5 metres in the test. I think thats about 24/25 foot so it's actually a big space.
  20. I managed to get mine in 5 days before the swap over But was told by the training centre that if i do need to redo it, it would cost around £150 - £200 more!!
  21. Anyone else notice they were going for nearly two grand?!?!
  22. Good stuff, i was in the same situation as you too! Had my gear for about a month or so before i had my bike and no, i wouldn't just put it on for fun sometimes... Out of interest, how much did you spend on the leathers?
  23. Don't want to make you even more p*ssed but it was absolutely awesome! There must have been not far off 1000 bikers! I was a bit late so only caught the second half of the ride to city hall but the atmosphere was amazing. Surrounded by bikes everywhere, everyone revving engines and honking. Some guy on a harley was next to me most of the way with the loudest exhaust EVER!! He was revving like crazy and i think ive gone partially deaf as a result! I took some pics and a vid too http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j237/Gizmojunky/SDC11790.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j237/Gizmojunky/SDC11793.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j237/Gizmojunky/SDC11795.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j237/Gizmojunky/SDC11796.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j237/Gizmojunky/SDC11798.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j237/Gizmojunky/SDC11799.jpg ">
  24. I suppose it could be dangerous. I have the Kriega r25 with a back protector in and a back protector in my jacket. I don't know as i luckily havent ever come off but surely not many people land directly on their back when they come off?
