Chain Oil

REALLY...... So it’s in their best interests to make your chain last longer is it ??
2. I have just purchased a Motorhome that has exactly the same issue i.e. the on line MoT check had a Spike in mileage at some point, however it had a fully stamped up service history that matched with the seller’s story & not with the DVLA. An inspection of the vehicle also confirmed it did have the wear & tear that would be seen in a vehicle with the mileage claimed by the seller & no worse. The only conclusion I could come to was that some MoT tester suffered fat finger syndrome & entered the incorrect mileage. My advice would be to examine the service history & all documentation that comes with it & examine the condition of the bike to see if it stacks up with claimed mileage. If you smell anything fishy or you are not comfortable with it : walk away, they’ll be another one along soon enough.

Ear plugs!

Always have, always will. A mate’s girl friend was doing a Uni course to qualify as an audiologist, she was doing a thesis on hearing damage in motorcyclists, I took part in the research by answering some questions & having a hearing test ( which I performed well at, although the Missus asked for a retest ) I never actually got to see the final thesis as they split up, but apparently there was a very strong correlation between greater hearing loss in a certain range for motorcyclists who did not wear ear plugs & / or preferred open face helmets.
4. All well & good, but they’re not flashing
5. So, I have been contemplating the future of the internal combustion engine & electric powered vehicles and have a question nagging away in the back of my mind: When people have moved from I.C.E’s how will the Government fill the holes in their coffers created by the lack of revenue from petrol / diesel? I haven’t found an answer, so have created some of my own: A/ They will tax electricity ( from 5% to say 25% and not being able to differentiate between domestic consumption and that being used to power vehicles everyone will be hit weather they use a vehicle or not B/ The VLD will be increased - thus hitting everyone with an electric vehicle regardless of how much electric they consume. C/ There will be charge for every mile completed - this would mean the Government having access to this information directly from your vehicle & be able to charge you directly having access to your bank account. D/ Sell pre paid cards that are inserted into a vehicle before it can operate, they can thus remove this privilege by cancelling the card if you digress in any way. None of the above options appeals to me in anyway, so unless anyone can come up with any other suggestions I will not be using or promoting the use of electric vehicle My head hurts !!
6. Hi @fastbob I'd like that. Fortunately since the binning the borrowed bike I have put about 1400 miles on it , My confidence and stuff is definitely affected but I am not letting it stop me. I have a bit of anxiety which is frustrating given my profession but will see the vet about it I think, see if they can help. Come the spring I would enjoy a ride out following your tractor. If I cannot manage to easily repair my bike I might ask for your help also (which you can decline of course). Happy to do a bit of spannering or wrenching as I am now obliged to call it . I haven't got any projects lined up this winter so the opportunity to bugger up someone else's bike would be most welcome . I should have the ER5 back on the road soon so transport isn't an issue. Stay in touch . No Winter project ?? - throw a rope & grappling hook into Sutton stop - I’m sure you’ll get summat
7. It's originally from a website called Slavs Squatting in Tracksuits . Make of that what you will . It came to my attention via the Sportster Sickness FB page. You fibber, it obviously originated from the Itchybum Moto YouTube feed
8. This is hilarious I can feel the bile rising amongst many of you https://www.indy100.com/article/greta-thunberg-helpline-adults-men-angry-watch-video-9121561
9. Don’t buy an Aldi one. The zip broke on mine after only 3 months - mind you it was only £6:99
10. The Cafe Racer Kit crew organised a ride in to the National Motorcycle Museum yesterday. Here’s some pics:
11. No one said they want bumming .... if you get into a cab with one of them bumming stickers on , then you must fancy a bum. Not me I'll get the bus thanks . Pfft, what a load of bollocks, it’s well known that you treat a taxi rank as a pick & mix to satisfy your sordid black cab fantasies, & you’re banned from the buses since the incident on the top deck with the McD’s fruit pie & the goat you smuggled on.
12. You’ve all got it wrong, it’s actually done in reverse. The ‘after’ picture is how it started and the ‘before’ picture is how it ended up having taken tips from Itchy Bum Moto YouTube videos & wiring advice from our favourite resident expert
13. So, Craig’s list would have project bikes close to Coventry UK that Bob might be able to peruse? I think not.
14. Need a kick start for that Ah, something else that needs fixing !!
15. Oooh, I forgot to say that it could do with a battery eliminator.
16. There’s this heap of junk that needs sorting out, engine performance, suspension, brakes & styling all need attention to make it anyway near desirable. Good luck, the current owner is notoriously tight & grumpy ( what ever you do, don’t suggest that you’re gonna ‘restomod’ it !!
17. Thanks for the replies. The mileage seems to reset to 6k after 3 months from the First MoT & then climbs from there giving a total mileage of about 60k which us more than its being advertised at. Fleck it’s based on a Peugeot Partner, so don’t know if yet had the same issue. The seller says it’s was bought from a reputable dealer 12 months ago by his elderly mother who can’t manage it now & has no service history. I’ve emailed him about the mileage anomaly. It could well be an error & the mileage at the 1st MoT should have been 2856 miles - a service history with old MoT’s would have shown this, also it’s not unknown for fresh MoT’s to be put on vehicles as a selling point, but I think I might give it a miss as it’s starting to sound a bit dodgy, I’ll see what the reply is line.
18. So, we’re looking to buy a small camper van / Motorhome, we’ve got a particular type in mind and one’s popped up on e-bay at a reasonable price...... However I’ve checked the MoT history and found this: It shows a mileage of 28,560 on 24th March 2011 but only 6144 on 10th June 2011, so it looks like it lost about 22k in 3 months. Is there any legitimate way this might have happened?
19. Looks as good as the Aprilia project you pulled out of a hedge & sold to some poor mug !!
20. The Hoar Park meet is quite an experience as long as the weather is right. Nick named the ‘Cinderella club’ coz everyone f*cks off around 12:00 You will see all sorts of old and rare machinery plus modern & custom stuff. fastbob is quite correct in that it’s mostly frequented by retirees, those on split shifts, holiday & sickies. I’ve been there quite a few times this year ( retired ) There’s a cafe & coffee shop. If your in the mood to talk Bollox about all bike related stuff this is it. Really friendly no dicking about.
21. Take the add to somewhere that does a price match ( e.g. Halfords ) I got a genuine Yuasa for half the going price doing this. It was from a very genuine looking website that was accepted by the manager of my local Halfords as an acceptable comparison. It was only afterwards that I found out that the ‘ legitimate ‘ site had a really bad reputation for having some weasel words in the small print that went along the lines of “ If the item you order is not in stock we reserve the right to supply an equivalent item “ I.e. we never have the proper thing in stock so we will always provide a shite Chinese alternative!!
22. H’mm The dealers use bikes around Tilehill, you can hear them buzzing round late at night, stopping every couple of mins then buzzing off again, goes on into the early hours
23. As long as it’s legal it’s only a matter of taste, if we all had the the same sense of style then the world would be a very boring place. So if you like it, do it !!
24. Strangely enough it was on last night as it’s 5O years since it’s release. I watched it & recorded it and yet again can’t remember it all coz I was stoned, which is the law when watching that film ( along with any of the Cheech & Chong films )
