Sometimes someone writes a rollercoaster that makes you have a hundred thoughts. Then you try to write an adequate response and discover there doesn't seem to be one- this is one of those, because wow what a horrible horrible time, very glad it sounds like you're on the other side of it now and you can start enjoying yourself again. -
My pops had a Dulllville for a while. He complained about it all the time and yet it was the bike he held onto for the longest! It was practical on the motorway commuting. He still occasionally waxes lyrical about how it could be “hammering down with rain and not a drop would touch you” so it left it’s mark!

I just re-watched it. He did it in school during art, theres some pupils wobbling about in the background on one of the shots

My son did lego animation when he was in junior school and Ive just quizzed him- he doesn't remember a thing so no help there! Id try the schools art department they normally have all this stuff set up and can't wait to let you know in minute detail what would suit and why.

Thats my impression- that theres micky taking ahead and I best find the most direct route out of it! I'll ring my insurance company tomorrow.

Darn it, I knew I should have left my jobs till later and waded around the internet! -
Thanks for the advice. I probably should have but I have a stubborn streak and didn't feel intimidated- just very annoyed he was trying it, he looked like any real physical exertion would likely have brought on a coronary! You get full super powers within 1 or 2 years of qualifying as a nurse, you see so much aggressive or unreasonable behaviour you can tell when its just posturing. Six30 a police outfit wasn't necessary, I was already wearing my supersuit Still its unpleasant and I think Im going to get that dashcam!

Are you sure its not a victorian chimney sweep from the waterbabies? -
Oh don't. Ive had the dashcam discussion with my husband many times. He's just not interested. Ive pointed out it would be beneficial because even if something was our fault we've never been the sort of people who'd deny it and always hold our hands up. Anyhoo perhaps this will be the straw that got the dash cams installed! I particularly want them for my son who's about to start driving. Some drivers try to bully the other person into accepting fault, insist theres no damage or just lie and I think young new drivers are particularly susceptible. I can't understand how people think its ok?! The guy who's refusing to pay out on this one was overbearing and clearly thought he could get his way using force- lightweight female in a nurses uniform will surely acquiesce?! He became visibly angry when I refused, shocking how much of life can still come down to physical size and dominance. I stood there thinking you will give me your details, what you gonna do hit me, run away? A sad state of affairs, one that would be much easier now if I had some footage!!!

Thanks Speedy23 I currently definitely know my highway code and road signs. Im not a competitive person with other people but I am sometimes with myself and there was no-way I was going to be satisfied with less than 100% on the theory test so I put in quite some hours reading to make that happen. Although rule 267 and 268 are pretty cut n dry in my opinion Never heard of this one- Not the Blue Book by Dave Jones. Will have a look for it I am going to take my time making a choice (thanks for the link) because Im still getting to know the bike and can easily list things I need to work on so would rather wait a bit, smooth out some of the rough edges Im aware of and then use the advance training to help push me up a level. So does one have to spend hours grooming show cats the same as show dogs or can you put them in the ring without them looking CLawful? -

Look forward to hearing about the kit improvements n reviews A job that doesn't engage or reward is just a drain on the soul but it does leave the mind free to wander onto other things, some of my best plans have been hatched whilst bored out of my skull by mundane tasks. 7500miles 2 up fully loaded after 1 years riding is impressive but having the gumption to make it happen impresses me most. We use a made up word at home that needs a synonym- When you meet someone who's always talking about what they're going to do (often in a bragging fashion) but nothing ever seems to happen then they're known as a wozza- "I was gonna do that, I was gonna do this" the only thing that ever seems to occur is excuses. Your the opposite of a wozza, a 'didityeha' ?! A 'gumptiona' ?! Anyway hat off, I look forward to hearing the planning of the Australia trip! Thanks for the write up. -

I've got a mostly unused bottle of muc-off I can send you if you cover the postage. Let me know address in a pm and I'll pop it in the post. I tried it once and didn't like it but I know some swear by it. What a gent. Don't like the new avatar though. I was a bit concerned at first that I was looking at an airway tube! -
Nob of a few months! I was sitting in my car queued in traffic and the traffic in front had started to pull away. I was still stationary and there was a loud cracking noise and the car was bumped forward, only a tiny amount but enough to make me jump out of my skin. The guy behind wasn't looking and had driven into the back of the car. He at first refused to give me his details insisting there had been no damage but when I insisted he got out of his car looked at mine said it was fine and no need to exchange details. I then had to become very insistent he gave me his details. The loud noise and being caught out in the past by agreeing its fine only to discover damage later made me persist. I could see the paintwork was marked and pointed this out to him at the time. I was glad I had vociferously pursued getting his details, on closer inspection the rear red reflector lens was cracked (I assume that was the loud noise) the silver trim in the bumper was bent (not badly but no longer in alignment) and the paintwork was marked. It was a small tap but it does take some force to bump a 4X4 forward, they're not light vehicles. The other driver has continued to insist he did no damage. Now months later after the repair he is refusing to pay and his insurance have sent a letter saying they won't pay either as its been handed over to the legal team. Im pretty peeved to say the least. He has behaved very poorly and Im now not sure what the outcomes going to be. I thought if someone drove into the back of you it was pretty much cut and dry?!

We had a situation like this 4-5 years ago. The fella I mentioned who was dying and turned up without a word. He was there at the hotel at Ashford. he had booked that and booked a room at the hotel in Germany and told no-one. It was a surprise. but one we dealt with. But.. I didn't feel obligated to him. We tried to get him to fit in.. but he really never did. He was very ill and rode ponderously slow... his normal top speed was about 40mph.. maybe 50 on the motorway. So.. we put up with that for the journey across.. and up to a point while we were there. but.. by his actions and in chats he made it very clear that he was only really there for the company. people he knew to chat with in the evening... ride out with us in the morning but eventually turn off and go do his own thing. the first time he did that was a little upsetting as we thought we had lost him and i felt very responsible for that. but it was all cleared up later and from then on I didn't worry about him at all. He spent most days exploring the region at his own pace and was very happy about that. Also.. one of the regulars often does this sort of thing.. but he knows the region well and so, again.. is nothing to worry about. What I do, doesn't suit everyone.. so people have come along and either not bothered again, or proved to be a pain in the neck and ive not bothered asking them again, though that hasnt happened for a fairly long time.. back to a time that pre-dates membership of this forum. But.. people are more than welcome to come along for the company and indeed ride with us as and when they want to. I have said 8 is a maximum.. simply because it makes life a lot simpler.. but if more than that were to come then i would simply adjust. it depends a lot.. at the end of the day, on how many rooms are available. but even then there is a "plan B'.. there is a second hotel that is just very slightly more expensive. a € or two.. about a half mile away at the other end of the village. Cant make up my mind about this, on one hand turning up on someones holiday unannounced is beyond rude on the other Im glad he got a decent final run out. Very nice of you all to accommodate someone you didn't even know the circumstances of. I would have had a nagging doubt that someone who does something like that is a bit unhinged or on the spectrum somewhere. I suppose he didn't have a lot to lose but its one of the most spectacular gatecrashings Ive come across! The 40-50mph for me would have grated just a bit.

S-Westerly it is the grief saving element I’m interested in so it might be for me. SometimesSansEngine It sounds a worthwhile pursuit. I suppose my only reservation was that you’d be riding everywhere like your on a test the whole time. A 900 word write up is somewhere between generous and crazy sounding! Was it all useful stuff? Are you trying out the Bristol IAM? I was looking at Cheddar, it looks ok?! -

A new helmet with better ventilation, thats what I gave up and did after a years worth of fogging up. Spray wise I found the muc off anti fog spray better than the others. A breath guard might be lurking in your helmet box. Making sure any buff or balaclava is not forcing warm air upwards. Switching to contacts, theres another thread on here recently about just this that'll be worth a read. Buying a pinlock. Or if its driving you crazy and you like a mad option there are turbo fan ski goggles that fit over glasses that have a battery operated fan inside them. They sound bad but they work, thoroughly tested by my good fogging friend who was nearly abandoned up Mont Blanc one year due to not being able to see in a howling winds! -
