1. Great idea, it’s all shaping up nicely. 12 days a bit of printing and only a wee investment of time and money from Via. I can’t see any potential pitfalls, I might not volunteer for the first ride though, only so I’m available to video of course.....
2. Two minutes to midnight- Iron Maiden
3. I love it when a plan.... morphs completely out of control. So it’s agreed, Via will invest heavily and master new technologies to print our very first superbike. Deadline?
4. Depends on the road. The width of the road, length of the straights etc Lots of the popular roads here have no central road markings, it’s too narrow. They were straddling the width of the road to the extent no-one could safely pass, they knew what they were doing. It’s a move designed to keep traffic behind them and the road ahead of them clear so they don’t have to slow at any point. The majority of Lycra cyclists are obsessed with times and compete obsessively to achieve a better ranking on Strava segment. A quick glance at the queue behind them should have given them a clue what their next move should be! I regularly see crazy cyclist behaviour but then Cheddar Gorge is one of their top picks. A couple of weeks ago I turned up a single track (in the car) and a lorry was on coming, squeezing its way through and hedged either side. I started to reverse. A cyclist appeared behind me desperate to squeeze by, I stopped. We all sat there for a while listening to him setting the parking sensors off whilst he refused to come to the conclusion he couldn’t get passed. So I put the cars reverse lights back on to try help him realise he had to back up. He moved back a bit so did I and then he stopped AGAIN looking hopefully that the 2 metres movement may have shrunk the lorry. I’m a patient person but by now his timings would have been wrecked, his obsessive expression and refusal to consider others was beginning to irk. Eventually we reverse back down to the crossroads and the lorry passes. I start to pull away and the cyclist starts to pull around the car (no doubt to perform the above blocking method) and suddenly starts shouting “Idiot idiot what are you doing idiot” I think because I being the vehicle in front had started to pull away and not remained stationary to allow him in front! I had my children in the car so words needed to be carefully chosen, I put the window down and said in a voice that frightenly reminded me of Margaret Thatcher “Mind your manners you silly little man” he had no reply and left sharpish- in front of me! Anyhoo it’s annoying because most cyclists are perfectly decent road users. It’s the Strava boys n gals that can’t control themselves who spoil it. Six30 I’m missing out, I don’t know Lucille?
5. Good luck
6. Nice work! How long does it last? You might need a week off and start drinking fast!
7. JRH Brrrr I dinna like it! I was stuck behind 3 guys for quite some distance who deliberately spread themselves across the road to stop you overtaking which I understand on some parts but even on the clear straights they positioned themselves in a way that made it dangerous to pass. I considered a quick beep of the horn but knew it would be fruitless and then I’d be annoyed so I just waited. Only having recently parted ranks with the Lycra brigade myself (and intending to return when the mood takes me) it was interesting to look at it from the outside and this’ll likely set the cat amongst the pigeons but I was struck by how many aggressive middle aged men there were, if I had to say if overall they were enjoying themselves I’d say no, they look angry. I wondered if they are suffering with hormone problems.
8. Hit me baby one more time- Brittany Spears Oops a bit late please ignore
9. So Via no excuse not to print that mobike!
10. Oh I’m really tired but I’m gonna have to stay up if the grown ups are going to fight
11. I’d be interested to see that, with the approx dimensions if you can?
12. Hmm I hadn’t considered it from that angle but then if they turned off gps I wouldn’t be able to consider it from any angle as would be unlikely to even find my way out of bed! Worth a ponder. I suppose it could also be used by whoever’s running the system as leverage.
13. You should have seen how many cyclists were in Cheddar today, it was like when the temperature is just perfect and the flying ants swarm, you’d definitely need more bats!
14. Machine Gun - Jimi Hendrix because S23 has put a Hendrix album on in my mind!
15. Aah thought it was, he was regularly in flight off the planets surface
16. Suits me....when are gonna buy our tickets outta here? Or have you gotta "thumb" handy? "I have lived here before, the days of ice And of course this is why I'm so concerned And I come back to find the stars misplaced And the smell of a world that has burned The smell of a world that has burned Well, maybe, maybe it's just a change of climate I can dig it, I can dig it baby, I just want to see" What’s that from? I’m thinking a rocket, a massive sky rocket.
17. That puts the toilet charge at stations into perspective!
18. More dodgy facts from the SCM house of nutrition (diploma gained from ‘The School of No Sense Eating Habits) is that cider being apple juice is one of your five a day- carry on! Disclaimer: Following any of this advice may cause a reduction in the number of days spent on this planet.
19. Might have had this already and it might not be the actual title! The hills are alive with the sound of music- Julie Andrews.
20. Oh I see Rennie............ no probs Why is Hoggs green?............. is she like the hulk? or Princess fiona or summat Princess Fiona!! Oh please please make me a mod now and I promise to do nothing wicked. Shrek? Choriton and the Wheelies?
21. A good dose of lard every now n then helps keep everything lubricated, that’s a fact.... ok it’s not. Although the geekier among you may be interested to know they are in the midst of doing a 180 on saturated fat being bad due to the research it was based on being quite flawed. They now believe it’s the chemicals in the red meat that cause the damage. So if you’ve eaten lean meat to avoid fat you’ve ingested a disproportionate amount of the bad stuff! Quite interesting to read up on how saturated fat got a bad name- if nutrition floats your boat. But you just can’t win can you?! Pass the salt.
22. Oopsy, that was an expensive manoeuvre. Has anyone else seen the tiny grey lamppost coloured cameras the council are using to fine people for violations like turning right on a left turn only. I’ve heard they’ve been very successful both at creating revenue and preventing traffic violations. They’re much smaller than the grey boxes currently in use.
23. Ooh a complicated project. I like it.
24. That is just a little on the daft side!
