1. 5 minute walk and I still drive there
2. There’s always hope but it looks unlikely at the moment.
3. I’ll be doing the 6 months in the uk until I know where I want to be so insurance will cover healthcare and circumnavigate most obstacles about residency. It will also give time for the bureaucratic dust to settle. Clocked that English isn’t spoken but didn’t find it a problem, the bits and pieces that came up Google translate provided translations that everyone seemed to find pretty funny. Preferred that they don’t speak English cos they’re not sick of English people unlike the places you mentioned. Probably use an agent and interpreters for the serious stuff. As it’s entirely possible for a British person to move to the majority of countries in the world (income allowing) because they want your money I suspect the same will occur after Brexit, they’ll still want expat money and tourism coming their way so I doubt they’ll make it too difficult, they may just find new ways to extract some more money. The driving licence thing isn’t decided yet but the likely worse outcome is needing an IDP which is no biggy but that’s back to the tourism point. I would check out Almeria province......it's very nice there with a more temperate climate than Granada! Rents and property values are much lower too. If we had our time again, that's where we'd go. Thanks I’ll have a look Hadn’t looked that far across cos of wanting to be nearish to the Sierra Nevada ski resort but recently was thinking I’m not that bothered about that.
4. There was no diplomatic immunity to waive. It makes you wonder who interfered and why. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-northamptonshire-54904234
5. As you know, you'll become a third country national after 31st December. So unless you've already got residency and paying into the system (to get healthcare) by that time then it's going to be very difficult. Unless you're super rich! Also, Granada has very few Brits compared to the likes of Malaga, Alicante, or Valencia provinces........English is not spoken here. So you'll need to get a degree of competency with the language very quickly. And as I understand it, UK driving licences will not be valid! 6. XTreme those speeds are a fantasy, you’ve made them up Won’t be needing a new job. Should be able to run most things remotely and assuming there’s still an airline still operating come back when necessary.
7. The Wild West with drunk people sounds frickin awesome, send me the address! People seem to have unrealistic expectations of themselves when they buy abroad. Like they’ll undergo some immediate personality transplant where the things they enjoy at home suddenly won’t appeal or be needed anymore just because they didn’t miss them while on holiday for a week. I don’t want to have to travel far to do any job so it would be unrealistic for me to think living over half an hour away from services I use regularly would be anything other than a bind, hence Granada. A place near (but not in) a town next to a city is the kind of thing that I’m after. That’s what works for me here. I’m not willing to forego broadband (or equivalent), easily getting stuff delivered, a decent hospital, a large supermarket, supplies for whatever mad idea I come up with next, somewhere to get my phone fixed when I’ve dropped it etc etc. So back on topic(ish) the supermarket supplies in Granada, am I going to be hoicking a suitcase full of teabags and marmite through the airport? You thinking of going to Spain? We will be wen Covid f*cks off and we know what the long term damage is to us financially. Have done many recce’s looking at the areas around Granada, had even found a place to rent and paid the deposit but that all went down the tubes when Covid reared its ugly crowns back in March. Heyho gives me time to consider mi teabags n marmalade
8. One of the recce’s I did the flight was full of expats (cheap weekday flight) and he said connectivity is not an issue, people who don’t have access to good broadband just get unlimited 4g and a VPN n they’re set. Problem with that is Id be tempted to watch the news and I like the idea of not knowing what’s going on in the world! Anyhoo where’s XTreme with the supermarket n teabag situation update?
9. I’m sold, where do I sign up? Coms kits are shamefully overpriced and underperforming. I’d pay for an app that works. Would need to be careful abroad in countries where data roaming charges might apply. I got caught out in Montenegro who are half in n half out the EU But yes definitely use the power of the mighty mobile to circumnavigate the irritation of connecting to other riders and the pitfalls of Bluetooth. I’ve yet to try out senas ride connect that uses your mobile but I don’t have high hopes.
10. That’s not bad going. Now just to figure out how to get a repeat performance for the next 18years Hmm lots of scotch may need to be consumed Sherry works best on a baby
11. Damn damn n double damn, that’s no good, what was she thinking?! My mum has a place in Mijas we use so I’ve got an idea but I’m wanting to go closer to Granada cos I’m not unrealistic about wanting to have access to all the comforts I have here. A lot of people will groan but simply I want what I have here but somewhere sunny with good riding. I can’t speak Spanish which I reckon will give me the cut off from world but still in it thing I’m after. That was the problem with the in law's, her mam loves shopping and getting dressed up for a night out, so they bought in the middle of nowhere, where the getting dressed up consists of the men fastening the belt that's normally halfway down there leg and the woman take the cooking pinny off. Nearest shopping of any worth was in antequera, where when it was busy you were hounded by romainian Street urchins if you sat outside. They also didn't like the extreme temperature, too cold in winter, too hot in summer, WTF they bought where they did is beyond me lol, I loved the place though, it was like the wild west with drunk people. 12. Shudder. Don’t miss that sleepless night stuff one bit and to all the annoying people who look at you when you’re wondering if it’s possible to die of tiredness and say “Oh don’t wish it away, best years of my life” Balls to them it’s not, if being kept awake by a baby is the best years of your life you’ve led a terrible life. Yeah its no fun, though put her down at just after 12 and she slept right through to 7.30 am That’s not bad going. Now just to figure out how to get a repeat performance for the next 18years

14. Blimey you’ve got a good memory! Read it, it’s very good. Particularly the stuff about the heroin addiction that led to her RTW trip. Gave me itchy feet which is frustrating given the current situation! I read this during the 1st lockdown - I know what you mean about itchy feet DA5A9EEA-5B07-462D-B9A5-191B3ACE6DE7.jpeg I’ve not read that one so thanks for that it’s now on my list Just started ‘Our Ridiculous World Trip’ by Matt Bishop one of The Sidecar Guys. So far it’s good. I hadn’t expected it to be because they are quite nice normal people and usually there’s an element of being screwed up but with these guys if there is it’s yet to show itself!
15. The chicken I bought in Lidl in Granada was frighteningly turkey sized but then who knows where they’re sourcing them from, they did glow a bit in the dark... Don’t know but don’t think I’d be spending Christmas out there often anyway, too many family here. Bender did you live there?

17. Well we have just put her down again so here's to hoping that she will now sleep through! Don't work too hard eh Shudder.
18. These are British supermarkets......not Spanish ones! We need to get all the stuff for over the period at Brit shops. We can get turkey in town......but everything else you can think of that you have at Xmas isn't available. Also, curry isn't a big thing here......so no hope of anything like that either. Well yer but apart from Christmas fare, turkey n brussel sprouts etc what is missing? I’m not picking holes, I genuinely wanna know. I did a quick recce of the larger supermarkets in Granada when I was there and thought a lot of the produce was better than the tiny portioned, clingflim wrapped, over priced offerings we get here but then sadly marmalade and decent tea were missing I thought I’ll just have to order them online but this Brit supermarket thing sounds like the answer.
19. Apparently not, you have to go undercover and plan a military operation to go get tea bags. If anything’s worth going stealth mode for its tea.
20. It is rennie they’ve made a mistake you’re supposed to make a cup of tea and have a sit down.
21. Aren’t all supermarkets full of the same stuff now anyway?
22. Just bought one. Now all I need is a nice few days to wash and dry out the bike. Then I'll see if this is worth anything. If you warm ACF up in hot water, does it go neat or do you need to dilute? I’d be interested to see how the dilution of an extremely hydrophobic substance goes. I imagine it would be worse than trying to mix oil and water. If you try it record it for us
23. Bender lol looks like I do So long as everything floaty light alls good in the world, may your worms never turn
24. I didn’t understand the nervousness coming off the Conservatives about Biden winning but these article excerpts about it made me laugh. What an idiot. Pasted from ‘The National’ a Scottish paper. “... it’s not just the President-elect who’s not too fond of the Eton-educated toff in charge of the UK, one source close to the new team told The Sunday Times: “If you think Joe hates him, you should hear Kamala.” It dates back to 2016, at the height of the Brexit referendum, when Obama urged “citizens of the United Kingdom take stock of their relationship with the EU” Johnson, who was the most prominent Leave campaigner, accused Obama of removing a bust of Winston Churchill from the Oval Office because of his “ancestral dislike of the British empire” He wrote in the Sun “Some said it was a snub to Britain. Some said it was a symbol of the part-Kenyan president’s ancestral dislike of the British empire – of which Churchill had been such a fervent defender." At the time Churchill’s grandson Nicholas Soames, a Tory MP, called the article “appalling” . He said Johnson was “unreliable and idle about the facts”, as there was still a Churchill bust inside the White House. Last night, after Johnson tweeted his congratulations to Biden and Harris, Obama’s former special adviser was scathing. Tommy Vietor, who’s close to Biden, replied: “This shapeshifting creep weighs in. We will never forget your racist comments about Obama and slavish devotion to Trump”. A Democrat party source told the Times: “They do not think Boris Johnson is an ally. They think Britain is an ally. “But there will be no special relationship with Boris Johnson.”
25. Poor old guy, he's had the full dose of 2020. Got Covid, lost his job, going to be evicted. I hear Boris is not in favour with the new administration since they remember certain comments he made about Obama whilst he was mayor of London. Who is Boris in favour with?
