  1. Good plan! Plus you may spot another contender you like more! Dealerships are more than happy to let you sit on bikes
  2. Im working on the assumption it was at home? Need more info OP
  3. Working with Fire and Rescue Im am well versed in cake fines. As in I partake in eating the cake, not needing to pay the fines! Water fairies
  4. Definitely sh*t creek, BUT on the plus quite fixable, a new CBT is half a day of your time (maybe less as you are renewing) and the cost works out cheaper than no payout at all!
  5. That's odd, my test centre purposely has fences all around that easily come down if cars or bikes go into them. It is awfully sad, especially more so if they were on a test and just beginning their journey into the biking world!
  6. I would say go sit on them and decide which you find more enjoyable

  8. Yes thats what I mean. Outside would seem odd even though the article suggests that (if you go on the police website its just the straight fact), wall seems more in line with the MOD 1 compound...
  9. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/driving-test-centre-cordoned-after-15958764?fbclid=IwAR1iFtPUruJSDpitSp8PbaT5PnnoObskbGxNJtFm4GnUfmRcpV3Cj-amJtk#ICID=FB-Liv-main How sad. RIP. I can't figure out from that if he was MOD 1 or 2. To crash into a wall sounds like a MOD 1 incident, because bikers totally love having to blast at least 31mph (after a sweeping corner) towards the wall to demonstrate you can stop. At Lincoln one of the U turn corners is actually a hedge, not just a white line! i wondering how many people had taken a seat in that bush in its time! But even MOD 2... lots of people in and out of the centre at set periods, junctions get busy and lots of learners who might do something random around to consider, add in the nerves.... How awful though.
  10. Yes but next year you will have 1 year's experience and 30% no claims discount. I don't know how old you are but another year might help too. Buying a 650cc isn't mandatory. You could still buy an A2 bike. Not as much kudos but even a 300cc puts you on motorways with a small reserve of power. I bought a CBR500R. Its fine for the next 5 - 10,000 miles of experience. Agree with this! Bikes are no different to cars.... that first year is a stinger but it gets cheaper quickly after that, especially if there are no claims. Keep going. You could also stay on your 125 if you so wish, just no need for L plates. I think in the UK our bike progression is weird if you're older..... 125 straight up to learning (and then buying) 600cc plus. You can skip over a lot of fun bikes around the 400 mark! Also could it be something to do with where you live or, most likely, where you keep the bike. Mine could be 50% cheaper if it was in a garage all day (i garage it at work, but driveway at home) but alas....
  11. Hi there! I imagine you will most likely do your test on an SV.... not a bad bike to be fair! I'd personally take a look at the 500-700cc market, as new most of them come in at £4-6k but used you are looking at your kind of budget. You'd have to sit on a few and see what feels best, but as an example good A licence rides for the journey you are thinking would be: Yamaha MT 07/ FZ 07, Honda CBR (if you get on with the ride position) or CB, Suzuki SV650 or Gladius, Kawaski have a few great 600 mark bikes (but depends on riding position you like). But you dont have to jump straight up to 600cc, KTM for example do great bikes that are lots of fun with plenty enough power at the 390 mark. If you can stretch your fund a little further, a Triumph Street Triple, they are gold dust second hand but they do come up occasionally (but be quick!). Sorry if this a bit of verbal diarrhoea, its hard to tell people what to buy, it's a lot easier to get your bum on as many bikes in shops as possible. You'll know if it's for you. I chose mine without even test riding it, I love her!
  12. Hahaha, I think it's the Puig screen! I think the 07s look weird without a good screen now though!
  13. Enjoying it more with each ride
  14. I'd say judging by this and the fact you're trying to discuss it with her, I'd just keep trying to reassure her. My parents hate motorbikes too so i can sort of see where she is coming from and as you say its that misconception that they are dangerous but people that don't ride. Just as likely though to be in a car accident, Im sure she allows the kid in people's cars! I think as long as you show her all the safety clothing and that the kid has to abide by your pillion rules for her safety (and if she breaks them then she has to get off) then hopefully she will come round. Also let the kid to the nagging hahaha, if its something she wants to do then she'll keep chewing her mum's ear off about it anyway
  15. Ok here’s some more pics. Took these as I was waiting for my BF to park his up so no fancy edited shots. Tyres look gross because there was a lot of salt on the road.
  16. I'm sure you will soon enough. I reckon you'll get the new daytona when it comes out. Stop it, Geoff!!! oh dear
  17. Thanks - will definitely get a full quote/ call.
  18. Deffo using Wicked on renewal. Heard only positives!
  19. Lol I'd agree with this. I seem to be pretty accurate! My 125 was a fully faired sporty thing, since turned 30 and ride a naked haha
  20. Wow, that went from religion to photography in a flash! I should leave and come back more often hahaha
  21. Interested to know if anyone has any personal experience of this device as it sounds pretty good and I may consider it myself. I have it bookmarked as im thinking of investing in this one too.
