Without going for the obvious junk food types: Bags of dried fruit and/or nuts Protein bars (Grenade do ones that actually taste nice) Flapjack Cereal bars many protein shakes that are pre made dont have to go in a fridge until you open them Rice cakes (with or without flavour) Tinned fish (some come without water now!) Crisp breads and spreads that could add to them eg peanut butter Jelly Popcorn Jerky
  3. Is it brand new or second hand? If new I dont know anything about peds but with bikes for a while you don't want to be putting up high revs while the engine beds in so to speak, give it time. For your other questions google a Haynes manual for your ped and that will help you. Sorry this is very vague!
  4. I dunno - the mt09 is pretty vicious Was gonna say the same! Im in the UK MT07 owners group and let's just say there's a fair few scrotes in there..... I imagine the 09 can bring out the hooligan or scrote in anyone. TBH my bias would be the MT as while i own the sedate 07, at some point i may want something meaner but of a similar build (love my bike!) so id lean to the 09... the MTs have a good record as well so far. That said, the Street is a wonderful bike, and id have probably got one instead of the MT had the right one not come up!

  6. My tank is relatively small so its usually around a tenner to fill from empty... even at Shell, which annoyingly are my two closest garages (i prefer to take the longer trip to tesco though!)

  8. Motorbiking since MOD 2 is the reason why I'm currently poor, I invest in this that and the other to improve the hobby! It's worth it though, every penny (so far).

  10. Ahh sorry to read [mention]misspoppy[/mention] Its ok to feel sad for a little while! As a back story I failed my MOD 2 aka 'the easy one' a couple of times, with clean sheets each time. I was pretty mortified on both, because it wasn't making mistakes that could be put down to minors building up, it was usually down to a random situation on the road that there would be no test-correct answer to in real life, you just hope it doesnt happen on your test! Rest assured lots of people dont pass MOD 1 first time, it's very black and white in what is a minor or fail. Speed is always a really hard one for people too!! For me, I just needed a bit of time to sulk. Being stubborn I rebooked when I could though so I knew there would be an ending to it eventually! I also just tried to take the pressure off myself, there is no rush to pass, we are all on the same journey just as different speeds! Don't hate your 125 just because it has L plates on it either, it's a useful tool for practising on I took a few days off motorbiking though just so i could focus on stuff I enjoyed. I needed to miss it to get the enthusiasm back again! By the time I did pass I'd stopped giving a crap if it was a pass or fail, which meant i was very relaxed on test day rather than tense, which I think helped a lot! So again take the pressure off yourself, fake it if you have to! As far as the speed thing goes, I was always 48 in practice but on the day I did 57 and 61, purely because I left the bike in 2nd and gave it a good ragging coming out of the corner lol. I found (of course) it wasnt as responsive in third) trying to get that to that 50. Good luck!
  11. I mean, let's be honest how many elderly car drivers put the wind up you (on or off bike) for doing something silly? Or you've witnessed doing something silly? Or, looking at my local paper, the amount of fatals or serious collisions involvoeing 75+ is pretty high. Higher than any under 25s, who are also discriminated against.
  12. Don't overthink it, just use the advice given to your by your instructor! Also, stop thinking about it until the morning! Try and enjoy your week!
  13. It seems so! Once you hit 80 people dont want to insure you. Its the same with per insurance though once your pet hits senior, suddenly your cover isn't as expansive (unless you opt for lifetime and the likes). Possibly the same with old (but not old enough to be a classic) vehicles too.

  16. They have done that as his old insurer recommended that, spent half an hour on the phone and they couldn't find anyone, and the recommended he call his old insurer! lol.
  17. Hello! Here's a conundrum. A work colleague has just asked me if there's anyone out there who will insure an 80 year old on his scooter? He rides every day and has done for many years, he had a Honda 75. This was stolen the other day, but he does have another scooter he can use - a Honda 90. However he needs to get it insured first. His old insurer no longer insures bikes. They were recommended Carole Nash but they don't insure 80 year olds, neither do many on comparison sites. I've given him a list of bike insurers that don't tend to appear on comparison sites like Bennetts and Wicked.... but Im sure there MUST be someone out there insuring much older riders!!! Other than him walking into a brokers. Please HALP.
  18. Nooo the routes are completely random but none will be harder than others, it's just what you perceive as hard! A test route they use here in Lincoln goes out of the centre and on to an estate, then all the way along a 40mph road and a short bit of dual carriage, straight over a bridge, up hill (not steep), straight over a round about, left turn then straight back down a bypass to the test centre.... to me that's super easy but to others the idea of riding along a busy city centre route then out onto a bypass is too much! My least favourite are country roads, especially in winter when I did my test, as you never knew what you'd find round the corner - ice, mud, high wind etc. Yet that's the route I passed on lol.
  19. Kalms the night before so you get a decent sleep! I suffer with nerves too so these helps. If nerves give you a gippy tum, just eat stuff like bananas, and avoid too much caffeine as it might make you twitchy(er). Are you riding down to the test centre or meeting your instructor there? If you have the option to get to the training school earlier and ride down, opt for that, you can ride away all the stupid before your test (worked for me anyway). And simply.... TELL yourself you can do this. You know how to ride, its no different from your MOD 2 before. You got this!

  21. Lol. In my defence I gave the bike an all over clean yesterday (annual leave well spent in the sun lol) and I did inspect the chain... no rusting and still slick so no urgent need. Though it did remind my I need to stock up on cleaner, and I think I might try this gear oil and baster approach!!

I was thinking that it was all very bizarre that he seemly was making his son follow suit... but just a thought or two... 1. what if Dad (or mum) isn't actually trans but his child had said he was unhappy and would rather be a girl but was scared so dad gave him support by just going about his day dressed like a woman? 2. Some kids are more experimental than others. Perhaps he decided he wanted to be a girl and both that parents went along with it as well as the teachers? He could be a boy again tomorrow. Im just trying to think if there's an other explanation that just 'dad changes gender and forces son to do the same' EDIT: Also what [mention]Gin[/mention] said. I had a work colleague who went MtF and three years on it does seem odd to think of her as her "he" past. She's not a girly girl (just like me really!), but most definitely has always been a girl, it just works if that makes sense, even if initially she didn't look fem.
