  1. I love that being called a snowflake is the knee jerk response to anyone calling people out on the internet these days. Plus isn't a snowflake a term for someone who is easily offended, yet a page back I just said I wasn't offended? Ok then. We ALL have to deal with people who may be academically smart but lack common sense, get over it? Everyone learns. Those damn 'elders' trying to be cool to 'us youth' (Not sure you can call me a youth at 30, unless youth = anyone even a year younger than you) by using all the current in words wrongly and then getting all butthurt Was asking for help about something that had already happened. It's all better now with a new panel, so I guess you can roast me for the super glue incident all you like now though. I don't mind because again, not offended. https://i.imgur.com/DtEL1mo.gif' alt='IMGUR>'>
  2. I'd be very interested to know where your threshold is on this. By the following use of snowflake I would assume you mean "Millennials". Aww, sounds like a really sweet thing for him to try, I'm sorry it didn't work out well. You know what you need to do now though? Take off the old 'glued' panel. Strip it down and use it for practice, go to Halfords and find an auto spray paint in a colour you like. Once you're happy, get the new panel you've ordered and the other panel on the bike and spray them mad colours of your own choosing Learning a new skill while making your bike very unique and personalised to you! That's what Im gonna do with the old panel, while there is a new one on there, I can still try different methods of lifting the glue so I know for future reference AND spray it up
  3. Goddamit I wish I was so perfect all the time !
  4. You know what this thread is missing? An nice long essay of the history of glue by griptwister Don't worry guys Im not offended, lesson learnt by me and the other half and I cant comment on his common sense. It will be fixed tomorrow so meh
  5. Elbow thing sounds like you were tense? Tension can end up in the elbow and/or shoulder areas.
  6. Yes I was the same selling the 125, I didnt give my address as fortunately he was a friend of a relative so they brought him round! Even when he asked for the address I conveniently forgot to send it
  7. What do you consider 'youth'? And again, I left them on the side as 'to do' thing. In the meantime while I was tidying my other half was trying to do a nice thing and do it for me. Should he have covered the area? Yes. Should he have panicked and try to scrub it with a tea towel? No. But hey ho, his intentions were good. I was annoyed initially as I take pride in my bike but The bike still works as do the grips he kindly did for me, so it's not the end of the world. Seems a bit harsh.
  8. The only lesson learned = thank f%$k MT's have plastic panels surrounding the tank for easy replacement when you tarnish them!
  9. Looks a little better this morning but I just ordered a replacement hahahaha
  10. Nice bike, I just don’t like that fly screen, it is like fist in the eye, but works well I presume Yeah, it's the MT Puig screen, it is very long, however it was great in the hail yesterday so cant complain. MTs look odder without a screen though!
  11. Would be ideal if that was a right hand one
  12. Well I didn’t install them myself but didn’t want to flat out blame my fella as he was trying to be nice....
  13. yeah, that got rid of the thin splatters lower down but not the blob.
  14. Second question.... what is this bit called?
  15. I was as careful as I could be with the acetone and it did dissolve some of it but now there's grey specs everywhere soooo
  16. Added heated grips to my bike but the glue was quite runny and some dropped onto the plastic panel on my tank Any ideas how to get it off? Not sure it painted black or not so not too sure about acetone. Will it come off with a few washes? Give up and buy a replacement panel? It’s bugging me.
  17. If Im parking at work I do, BUT that's because at present my bike gets left all day in a locked garage (locked from 9.30am until 4.30pm unless you request for it to be unlocked to get your stuff, it's an unofficial motorbike, cycle and car park accessories eg cones dumping ground lol). I may also leave it there if I ride out to some motorbike friendly event or area. If Im general riding and park in some kind of car park or at a shop etc then no the helmet comes too, Not so much because of theft but as you say people will mess around with it and/or drop/knock it!
  18. Yeah but at the back they might disappear....
  19. If you have people on 125s you will know they cannot go on motorways but also be mindful that some might struggle to get over- or maintain - 60mph so dual carriageway may have to be limited too - my CBR with me on it was quite happy doing 60-70 for a ride (it took issue when my bf was on it though lol) but my friend's much older 125 struggled so id drop to about 55 a lot if we went out together. Anyone on an L plate or new to group riding should be kept in the middle of the group and not necessarily expected to mark. Ive had some great ride out on my 125 but also some god awful charity ones where everyone at the front on their sports bikes and power ranger gear (sorry for the stereotype, just trying to paint a picture) hung about for the first junction then pinned it and left everyone else behind with no idea where we were going.... we found a decent pub instead.
  20. This guy does a really great review that I would echo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XU0GZgbWOeI
  21. I'd love a tracer at some point as well! my 07 is the stepping stone to bigger things. That being said Id struggle to part with it, we seem to get on pretty well haha.
  22. So, Ive owned this bike for just over a week now, and have ridden it nearly every day. So I thought seeing as no-one else has done a review on the 07 (madness) Id have a crack. Im not technical in the slightest so see this as a review from a complete noob, i suspect this might be quite telling though of how good/bad a bike is! I shall revisit this thread in 2 months, to give a much better overview too as there's still a lot I havent done with this bike yet. Background on me: recently passed test so quite green. Rode a couple of bikes for the MODs, including an SV and a Gladius. Disliked the latter, got on well with the former. I'm only 5'3 but I have long legs so there are no modifications to my MT. It's mainly been used for city commuting so far. What model was it? Mine is the late 2015 model, which I believe ran through until 2017. Mine is silver with the beautiful Yamaha Racing Blue. 689cc, 74bhp. When did you buy it and how much did it cost? Bought 2 weeks ago at a cost of £4k. 7k miles on the clock, no damages. Good points? Where to begin, nice and lightweight so easy to move around both in and out of the seat so great for cornering. It has a comfortable, upright position. Looks nice. Runs really smoothly, pulls nicely along as well, and you could easily move quickly out of danger if need be - there's some decent power in there. It's been described as quite 'torquey' and I can see why. If you are used to doing tasks like filtering on a 125 or parking it in narrow spots, it doesn't feel like a big jump between the two as its a good, compact bike for city commutes. The dash is pretty easy to follow and glance at. Comfy seat. I pretty much always jump off with a smile on my face. In my opinion this is a great first 'big bike' or a general purpose bike if you're more seasoned but dont want to do basic rides (sch as commuting) on you sportsbike, tourer or anything else more meaty. For beginners it's light and extremely forgiving, making you feel safer, building your confidence now you're on your own, and possibly less likely to drop it/dump it/come off so soon - ABS for added safety, not that I've tested it! For other bikers its a general purpose bike that isn't too boring. Plus being light you could probably pop wheelies on it really easy Added bonus is (not sure about newer model though as I suspect it's wider) the seat is tapered so if you have short legs, you can shuffle further forward and are likely to reach the floor ok. Bad points? The factory fitted exhaust is very quiet, so other motorists might not hear you and therefore not see/look for you. One thing that took a while getting used to was how close the indicators are to the horn - not sure if that has been improved in newer models. I believe the suspension has been improved in newer models. There *could* be an issue down the line with rust being a naked, but nothing good maintenance can't keep on top of. Would you get another? Im still fairly new to the A licence so Id probably still experiment on other bikes 'just in case' but for my general daily rides I would not be devastated if the 07 was all I could have again. If I totalled it tomorrow and have £4k in my pocket to buy a new bike, Id probably just go buy another MT lol.
