  1. See when I was at school once you were post-16 if you didnt put in the work or failed to turn up you werent really nagged about it, other than to be told that you may as well expect a fail. Obviously the school (i did A levels) would prefer you to get at least a C but their words were 'if you want to be an adult we will treat you like one' and that included learning about responsibility for your own study and whether you pass or fail.
  2. Lol you will be filtering soon enough, sod sitting in traffic I pootled about on my 125 for around 8 months before going into my das, paid £1100 for it and sold it for £930 so hardly lost anything on mine. Obviously i had silly offers but as i was in no rush to sell it i just hung onto it until i got a sensible offer and just sorn'd it til it went. Lol, i think I sat in traffic for a whole one week before braving it on my 125! the only time i wont filter is if Im leading a group and i cant see enough spots to land in for everyone and dont want to get too far ahead or i dont know how many are comfortable with it. Yeah I bought a 125 costing 1800, sold for 1600 8 months and about 700 miles later.
  3. I still think you are mad, the MT10 puts the wind up me, but I wonder if it's chalked up to seem scarier than it really is? Even so I wouldn't have bought one of those straight off, its more the level I'd consider a bit later on. I think this is where you're best looking at local dealer offers - the one near me regularly does 0% APR on new bikes (possibly dependant on the length of time) as long as you put down at least £500 deposit.
  4. I have the MT07 as my first big bike and I can't fault it at all*. Fun to ride, not exactly slow due to the decent torque but also feels safe. I'd say it's quite forgiving. It's very light as well and generally a low seat height (not sure about the 2019 model, the seat is different think it's less tapered) which helps with confidence if you want something to flat foot. Not a bad price from new but you can get a good bargain second hand as well being relatively new bikes. * ok, so being a naked it's prone to rusting I believe and it also comes with an almost silent stock exhaust, but this isn't anything to do with actual riding.
  5. Currently looking at Scorpion Arrow are on the maybe pile though!
  6. I don't like the sound of Akras on the MT personally. Bit too obnoxious. Yes, very expensive. If Im spending that I'd rather go for Yoshimura.
  7. How about some advanced training instead, it teaches you to see and avoid the hazards, rather than expecting everyone else to avoid you just because your bike is making a loud noise. It will probably be cheaper than the exhaust, won't effect you bike's resale value, my well reduce your insurance premium............. I'm looking at doing a Performance Plus yes as I quite keen to keep learning. But just in general, I would like to make myself even more glaringly obvious so it isn't always reliant on me practising my MOD 1 training in real life! Not had to do an avoidance yet but had a couple of brisk stops due to the spidey sense being bang on at a busy junction
  8. Thanks all, looking at a couple of the suggestions on here
  9. Anyway think I'll swerve on the Black Widow systems, the more I read the less impressed I am!
  10. I see what you mean - I posted this, and then did a bit of a google trawl to see if I could find any more info, video etc about it, not much came up!
  11. OH HELLO! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-Mt07-Fuel-exhaust-system/202653662446?epid=0&hash=item2f2f197cee:g:XtYAAOSwphhcs11v
  12. Nice idea but I don't think there are many around these parts that would do that! It's a trip the other side of the county from me just to find a garage with something specialist like a dyno (and I live in the city!)!
  13. Thank you! Had a look at this recommended brand, they don't cater for MT-07s though
  14. The urge to tinker has bitten. I want a bit more of a presence on busy roads (particularly while commuting) and if Im totally honest something that just looks nicer. My bike unfortunately you can't just get a slip on to alter the sound etc etc, it requires a full system change. Pricey. However I have been taking a look at the options for Black Widow exhausts and they seem pretty good and a fair price. Anyone have any reviews on these? (I'm aware it will probably need tuning)
  15. Haha I see what you mean and weirdly the colour fairing does kind of work. Alas my bike has nothing to the front so would be pretty pointless! I did get a sit on a tracer though which I kind of liked. Just a bit high for my legs as standard! That’s the trouble with standard legs - maybe you could get some aftermarket longer ones I could do with an aftermarket body that's for sure if they are better! I mean I'd have to get it lowered unlike the current ride.

  17. Evening all! Fancied an afternoon ride, managed to convince my usual crew out on a ride to CMC in Chesterfield for their MT event followed by a stop off in the Derbyshire Dales (taking some nice twisty roads) for chips (Matlock Bath). Even got a bag full of MT branded shizz due to my own MT. Lovely afternoon despite the cold! CMC, mecca of bikes, and a cheap cafe, it was great. Sadly the outlet warehouse was closed. Too much?
  18. It's predictable as well so a good starter bike for the unsure. Nothing twitchy about it.
  19. Shame it's not going ahead, I'd have been interested... surprised none of the pubs etc in Lincolnshire couldn't be accommodating considering how many bike nights and days happen in the county! But then if they'd put up with bikes for a whole weekend rather than a day/evening is another thing isn't it!
  20. It's not an unreasonable ride/drive from me and have heard many horror stories from local bikers. Whole host of issues, if you have even the tiniest of issues it sounds like your met with some form of hostility. Some times they don't even bother to clean the thing up before presenting it on the shop floor so Im gonna assume it wont be going in the workshop at any point unless there are bits truly hanging off.. I should point out this is not my own opinion as I have never been, but have yet to hear a positive one from my peers blah blah blah.

  22. I believe a lot of Yamaha dealerships are running similar MT events. The place i bought my MT in my city is running one but what would be the fun in just rocking up there
  23. I'd hire her if I was my manager just to make this office more vibrant! Work with some right beige folk. They look at me in confusion with my bright coloured hair and clothes! I like that she was chatty, even if she was a bit oblivious! lol You sound like a nice employer though, If you ever need something comms related hahaha
  24. Details: https://www.facebook.com/events/298626347483954/ CMC Chesterfield's "Yamaha MT Saturday 2019" Saturday from 10am-5pm. Prizes for the best Yamaha MT's to arrive on the day, test rides on the Yamaha MT range, Yamaha MT gift packs plus refreshments. I'll be riding over so say hi if you're about. Might go on to Matlock Baths afterwards for food (aka chips).
