[*] hi guys, being on a 125 before, I'm a total noob with my 600 thundercat, there is a White tub under the seat, but I don't know what for? I'm thinking water but don't want to do anything stupid, it's a thundercat btw, any ideas?
I've got one just like that on my Firestorm.
I keep all my blue smarties in it, for emergency use.

How often should you oil the chain then? Becuase I do mine every 1.5k-ish miles :s
Personally, never, since I have a Scottoiler.
Someone said in another place every 100 miles recently. That would be every day if I used the bike for commuting and didn't get it done automagically.
-
whats the point?
There are actually several points....
Increases the life of your motorbike chain & sprockets by up to 7 timesImproves performance
Significantly reduces motorbike chain maintenance
Saves you time, money and hassle
and
The Scottoiler vSystem is the latest edition of the market-leading range of vacuum-operated Scottoiler chain lubrication systems. The kit gives a range of approximately 400 - 800 miles between refills of the RMV (Reservoir Metering Valve), depending on the flow setting.
and they are perfect for a lazyarse like me that believes that time spent with the bike should be riding time
-
How much are they?
Between £70 and £100 depending on capacity and if you want twin injectors, and if you want new or used. Loads on Ebay
-
thanks for that, just not confident enough keep thinking my pride and joy will be in a heap on the floor needed expensive attention,
That's why you use another body to steady it. Then when it drops you can blame them
-
yes got a rear stand been using that for ages no problem, but when the bike is up on that, as it is before I try to use the front one, when I try to put the bike on the front stand the whole thing, bike and rear stand creep forward and then I cant seem to lift the front at all. annoying the s**t out of me now
The bike will move forwards when you lift it, just keep moving teh stand and it'll lift it eventually. Might be easier if you get someone to hold the bars while you lift, to steady the bike.
Just don't try lifting the front without the rear in position first... like I did

got it from Demon Tweeks in Wrexham, its a Motrax
Motrax Front Paddock Stand
MTXSL11R
sorry cant post pic or link not good with computers either
Have you also got a rear stand, and what difficulty do you experience when you try to use the stand?
And is it this one? http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Search.do?method=delegate&n=487&g=0&p=16292&s=MTXSL11R

thanks EAB.... will check those when i get a chance... wouldnt care but only rode it on wednesday... strage how things just pack up for no apparant reason
My son and I both have CBR400s and they absolutely refuse to start (or fire) if the battery is low. Bump start FTW - although that's not such an easy option with a 600
-
sorry, can't help being a perfectionist....
Perfection doesn't fit with youthful impetuosity though
Apparently. Don't recall that far back myself

Get it powder coated......will last forever (nearly)...
He doesn't want to strip it though, which pretty much rules out powder-coating?
-
Hammerite (or Smoothrite), brush, masking tape and lots of newspaper.
-
Low oil pressure when cold?
-
Thanks a lot guys now can start putting all firing back.
just a shame that i ordered 2m hose
thanks again and ride safe
2m is overkill, unless the exhaust really does get that hot.
Just make sure nobody parks on it at traffic lights...

this is sclose to were i live (south woodford) n ive wanted to go for years since my uncle goes every year, defo going next year - jus wonderin if any1 else is up for it?
I've been with my son the last couple of years, and will probably go again next year
Hopefully next year will be the first year he doesn't break down on the way there
-
the bit that is circled red is where the hose comes from carb and ends in 30cm and i can't figure it out where i should stick it to
Mytrenis (Peace)
It's a drain, it goes nowhere special.
Ignore it so long as it's not pointed at a naked flame. If it IS pointed at a naked flame, run.
-
If it's that easy why is the garage saying they can't fix my bike?
That question needs to be directed at the garage, and then sent onto Trading Standards.
-
Or any idea where I might get a chain from?
Ebay, or any motorcycle shop that sells parts. Chains are sold by size, pretty much anyone should be able to supply it (apart from Gap Kids and Thornton's, obviously).
-
I personally believe if you impose restrictions it should be to every one, and that includes cars etc. Put everyone in the same boat or not at all.
How would you restrict boats though? Propellor size?
-
Maybe 17 people did vote yes,but I think those 17 people are all learners or restricted.
No they are not.
And I'm not "thinking", I'm stating fact.
-
Well done! So you really did sail through it? I said you would
-
i took the brake of today and i saw that the side to side movement cannot be eliminated completely but will it prevent it from passing its mot, considering the brake works perfectly and the bolt is as tight as can be
So long as it's not likely to fall off, and so long as the brake works effectively and the looseness doesn't impede it's working in any way, I don't see how it could cause an MOT failure. An advisory maybe...

By far the best thing to do is avoid all that faffing around, insure it, and ride it through the winter!
