    Help please?

Iank's bike i used to ride got bad for squeaking, turned out to be the rear sprocket bearing ... whatever that is It failed the MOT on it.
  2. The fuel system is vacuum operated and the fuel valve has 3 positions: prime, on and res. According to the owners manual prime should be used when the bike has been standing for an extended period or when there is no petrol in the carbs because of running out of petrol. Robbed from das google .... Stick it on Prime Tako ...
  3. Hi there, best introduce yourself in the nooby section if your planning on staying, its the general line people give to new users ... anyhoo .. Deffo sounds like somethings terminal, white and brown liquid ? two different liquids ? im guessing oil is the brown stuff =, which would be bad enough, but im not sure what the white liquid is .. ? The exhaust doesnt connect to the carb, so im guessing you mean the cylinder head? Took any pictures?
  4. Reet ... i bought this exhaust on ebay the other week for next to nowt http://i.ebayimg.com/06/%21B6+6Ym%21EWk~$%28KGrHqZ,%21l0Ey+jCzNOkBMy-+%29FKgw~~_12.JPG as you can see, is a bit scruffy, How do i go about polishing this up ? Any easy and quick way? Guides ive googled look pretty long winded and in the "ohh i cant be arsed doing that" side of things.
  5. Lol ! I loved the thought behind the sedated cat ... kwality !
  6. Oi !! Piss off oldie, or ill rob yer wheels next time yer parked up waiting for a load ...
  7. sounds like your battery is being boiled dry by a dodgy reg/rec, either that or your putting the parking light on when you park up at night etc ?? ( sometimes one notch further than off/steering lock)
  8. It sounds like a safety cut out switch, ie ... side stand switch, in gear etc Is the neutral light on when you try start it ? When you say it does nothing, does it make a sound at all, when you try start it or does it simply not do anything ? When you press the starter, do the lights dim slightly ?
  9. Awww .... i sooooo wish i could go Will end up costing me far too much though.
  10. Bit of a wierd one i think The right indicator when pressed works fine, flicks at a uniform speed etc. When i flick left, it flashes then goes out for more than a second or two, then usually flashes properly (same speed etc as the right) In the really cold weather it wouldnt stay on at all .. i have to hold the button over to the left to keep it flashing properly. seems to be worse in the colder weather. WTF is casuing it ? surely its the same relay switch as the right ? P.S. these are standar indicators, not LED. Bike is a CBR 600FM (94)
  11. Is it a brand new hydrolic CCT ? perhaps the actual chain needs to be replaced ?
  12. DannyB 81666 If you add me, mebe send me a PM on here to say or i'll think your some american kid wanting to do a 10th prestige lobby etc Dunno if you can send a custom message on a friends request can ya ?
  13. I'll be going for the Maxxis Sports tourer tyres when i need to get a new pair (not to feckin long by the looks of it ! ) Cheap, good reviews too .. £120- £130 a pair !
  14. You dont have a sidestand switch do you ? I had a bizzare problem like that where it would splutter like mad sometimes, i used to think it was running out of fuel etc etc. On the way to the TMBF rally on the M6 just after i filled the tank we set off and it started spluttering like mad .. i pulled over and (mike) discovered that there was oil leaking onto the sidestand switch causing it to short when revving the engine, this cut the engine for a slit second rapidly making it splutter !! We simply disconnected the sidestand switch and the problems dissapeared ! ... worth checking something like that. Infact, any safety cut off switch potentially could be causing the problem. P.S. the oil was leaking from my gear shaft seal ... which i only replaced the other week
  15. Could consider leaving a set of bike wheels at the bike club then you just have to transport the frame ... which might be alot easier to strap to the side But im with Cobbz ... give up Cycling ... its not good for you anyway ...

  20. It will if some little hoody with a spanner needs one for his bike,, they're not the sort of thing that falls off,, one nut vibrating off down that length of rusty thread,,,,, is doubtfull, but two nuts, hard to believe,,, I have to say ... I though the same thing .. hard to believe, but i guess i'll never know now, still cant find out what the buggers called though. Im gonna go into a shop today and show them the piccys to see if they know.
  21. Haha Bex ... are you suggesting that i do not have a meticulous weekly maintenance regime ... ? I kinda thought someone had took a liking to my bike but i spose they could have fell offt then ... Cheers for the links dan, i'll have a looksee
  22. Checking over my bike last nigth after work and i noticed that the end part and both nuts were missing from the swing arm on the right side !!!!! First off ... its not really something that just drops off as you ride arround is it? 2nd ... Whats the plate thing called as ill need to buy a new one now ?? http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o242/DannyB81666/IMG_0870.jpg what it should look like http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o242/DannyB81666/IMG_0871.jpg

  24. Just a quick update ... New battery in and all is well, no problems at all since then and its been left over the weekend etc. Tested the voltages at work on friday and it was just under 13v under no load, charged at about 13.5v with lights on etc, so thank gawd for that ! Cheers for all the comments etc
  25. Well .... I charged the battery up last night and put it on the bike this morning, tried to start it up and it gave up after two ticks .. battry flat as a pancake, so pretty convinced the battery was a duffer ... I bought a new battery today, cost £33 squid though, but its been filled and charged and is now on the bike, and to be honnest it burst into life alot quicker than it has done in the past, so fingers crossed that there isnt gonna be any more gremlins !!! I will be testing the electrics with a multimeter tomorow at werk
