  1. Hi Jack, no never, done bike test, it seems there is a lot of contradictory statements within the DVLA, one area say's one thing, and other areas say something else

Ah right, I see. I've did some digging online and this website seems to have a good explanation on this:

I would have thought you would have legacy rights but it was more to do with larger motor vehicles:

The reason I thought that was I'm sure at one point my dad who took his driving test in the 70's had legacy rights where he could ride a motorbike on his car licence (if he chose to that is, he never did). It's now completely taken off his licence though due to new driving laws.

Thanks Jack, the first link makes it a lot clearer, but i still can't fathom the provisional entitlement bit, unless it just while doing training, and accompanied by an instructor, which would make sense, and should be stated accordingly

  2. i have just checked mine and came across this, does this mean i could ride a bigger bike on L plates,

A motor tricycle with a power exceeding 15kW

  3. Going by your profile, you are an engineer, should be fairly simple for you to make something, that would allow you to mount the bobbins, without having to weld the swing arms, what about a sleeve with a captive nut, that is clamped to the swing arm,

  4. Hello from the bonny banks of Loch Lomond . It has not been the best of journeys . I took the M1 and then cut across to Huddersfield and Halifax. The temperature was nightmarishly hot but I managed to keep moving . I then headed for Kendall but I just couldn't face the Lake district so I took the M6 to Gretna then the lonely and deserted B7078 . By this time it had gone really cold and there were pockets of fog forming . I joined the M74 but it was shut at junction 8 so I had to go on a massive detour to Hamilton . I'd had enough by now so I pulled into this Caravan and Camping Club site at Luss . It's a lovely site but the very small woman in charge is an utter c**t . I've had to practically beg for her to let me pitch my tent . I've had a proper telling off for not planning my journey properly . She charged me £22.65 to I gave her £ 25 and told her to keep the change . Thoroughly obnoxious little person . Apparently I'd arrived too late and everyone was asleep which is bollocks .

When you leave tell her Andy Murray is a c*^t and poke her in the eye :thumb:

Aye, that explains it, bad tempered cyclops  :thumb:

  5. I use a polaroid cube, it has a magnetic base, and comes with a tripod adapter, which can be used on any type of mount, i have mine on a handlebar mount, only a short battery life, but it will record while charging, mine gets plugged into my usb socket, and being magnetic, i can just lift it off when not needed, it also supports loop recording, i have seen plenty of other makes on ebay, and there are a few i would take a punt on at around the £30-£40 mark, if i needed another :thumb:

  6. Site has not been updated since June 2012 :?:

It also looks like a fan made website, the links are old and Crime Facts are now 10 years old, I would like to know if the rate of stolen bikes are a higher or lower than 2009, without checking I would think higher? right?

The Bennet's link i posted is from Nov last year,

  7. All well and good in principle, but 90% of theft is by organised crime, and most of the gangs/syndicates have corrupt officials in their pockets, so they will never get caught, or brought to account, complete and utter waste of time, more money wasted from the taxpayer

  8. Hi all, on my bike the wheel/axle nuts are a crappy green colour, and i want to swap them for some stainless steel dome nuts, there should be no problems doing a straight swap, i won't need to remove the axle, or alter the chain tensioners, will they need to be torqued up, or just tight, thanks :thumb:

Having domed nuts might prevent you from achieving the correct torque.

no probs, will just get some chrome caps instead :thumb:
