  1. Grab him by the throat, slap him around the face a few times, tell him to stop talking bollox, tell him that the evening should be about him, trying to make her feel the most important person on the planet, and if he doesn't listen, give her the number of the Samaritans, coz she will need it
  2. Getting clothing that fits properly, should be the priority, a £500 helmet that's too big, will not be as effective, as a £100 correctly fitted one, the same goes for your jacket, jeans, gloves, boots, and any other clothing or accessories you get
  3. Firstly apologies to anyone who, might have been waiting, secondly, not quite a disaster, could have been worse, the ride into Rotheram was fine, got into sheffield centre, no problem, then the bloody roadworks, sat nav was freaking out, and tried sending me onto the motorway, went to meadowhall 3 times via 3 different routes, plenty of cars trying to kill me, then got to the point of having had enough, and pulled over, reset the sat nav to take me home, still not happy and tried sending me to the motorway, saw a distant sign for Barnsley, started in that direction, a few miles down the road, see another sign for Rotheram, heads in that direction, eventually get to an industrial area, but the road was like something you would see on an oscilloscope, at which point one of my panniers jumped off it's bracket, and got wedged under the back wheel but still fixed to the bottom part of the bracket, got that back together, but was a bit wary from then on, trying to avoid any big bumps, then something started rattling, haven't found that yet, then coming back into Doncaster, more people trying to kill me, my first major ride out, was certainly an experience, and not altogether bad, but i think i will try and avoid long midweek rides, i should probably save these runs for Sunday afternoons
  4. or get a scooter, and just wear speedos
  5. Looking good so far, moved Xena to the front, camera gear ready , later this morning will give Xena a dust and polish ( any excuse to caress her gentle curves ), and should be setting off around 12-30ish expect to get onto Snake Road around 2ish, and heading towards Hope Woodland car park,
  6. . If I understand the OP's question then I am assuming that they wish to switch from one type of 2-stroke oil to another although it is not entirely clear. I'm guessing that the concern is that the two oils will have an adverse effect on each other when mixed . My answer is that I actually don't know . I stuck some castor based methanol in an MZ once and the petrol turned to jelly . So yeah , play it safe and drain out or use up as much of the old stuff as possible before sticking in the new. Never crossed my mind it could be 2 stroke, but i would still drain the old, and refill with fresh
  7. If that doesn't turn your trousers brown, you must have balls of steel
  8. dynax

    Scotland

Very nice Bob, and well done for catching your haggis
  9. Have you drained out the old oil, if not do that first, if you have, then just add the fresh oil
  10. I wouldn't wish ill will on anyone, but i bet the bright sparks behind this, would change their opinion, if a loved one of theirs had a fatality, in between these so called refuge areas
  11. Depends on what bits you've painted, and if you cleaned and prepared the metal properly, used a primer or not, but at the end of the day, if you're happy, that's all that matters
  12. Have you set up a fb or twitter page or both, might help
  13. I wonder if that is from a lack of experience/confidence, there have been times, when i felt a bit unstable, but managed to correct, without putting a foot down
  14. Brand snobbery, i suppose many years ago, it was a big deal to own a HD, but nowaday's not so much, as they're now made in China
  15. Ah right, I see. I've did some digging online and this website seems to have a good explanation on this: http://www.90-one.com/itbplus.html I would have thought you would have legacy rights but it was more to do with larger motor vehicles: https://www.drivex.co.uk/driving-licence-info/ The reason I thought that was I'm sure at one point my dad who took his driving test in the 70's had legacy rights where he could ride a motorbike on his car licence (if he chose to that is, he never did). It's now completely taken off his licence though due to new driving laws. Thanks Jack, the first link makes it a lot clearer, but i still can't fathom the provisional entitlement bit, unless it just while doing training, and accompanied by an instructor, which would make sense, and should be stated accordingly
  16. Hi Jack, no never, done bike test, it seems there is a lot of contradictory statements within the DVLA, one area say's one thing, and other areas say something else
  17. i have just checked mine and came across this, does this mean i could ride a bigger bike on L plates, Vehicles you can provisionally drive Category : A Start date: 1 Nov 1987 End date: 2 Jul 2040 Image of category A vehicle Hide information Description You can drive a motorcycle of a power exceeding 35kW or with a power to weight ratio exceeding 0.2kW per kg, or A motorcycle of a power not exceeding 35kW with a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.2kW per kg and derived from a vehicle of more than double its power. A motor tricycle with a power exceeding 15kW
  18. A word of caution, is your Cat A full or restricted, i haven't got a full bike licence, but i do have Cat A restricted, which allows me to ride any size trikes or quads on my car licence, have a look at the back of your licence, and see if there are numbers against it https://www.gov.uk/driving-licence-codes
  19. I'm gonna get a name plate made up for Xena, i wonder what response i will get from other riders
  20. They might have done the side to side nod, not all nods, are the usual up and down
  21. I nod to anyone, i have noticed riders of all types of bikes, that don't nod back, so it is unfair just to name HD riders
  22. Going by your profile, you are an engineer, should be fairly simple for you to make something, that would allow you to mount the bobbins, without having to weld the swing arms, what about a sleeve with a captive nut, that is clamped to the swing arm,
  23. I would sooner drill and tap, than weld it, could end up doing more damage, plus most swing arm's are aluminium, which would make it more difficult, but each to their own
  24. Why not just drill and tap the swing arm, should be easier than welding mounts on
  25. Might have air locked, take fuel cap off to help with flow, also get a rubber band or similar, and every time you turn off the petcock, wrap the band around your key as a reminder
