I wonder if alot of people Learning Do lifesavers because they were told to Do them without Doing them to check nothing is in their Blindspot If you see what I mean. So I Just get into the habit of checking My blindspot before changing lanes or direction and a few times now Something Has been there unexpected. If you DO it with purpose rather than Because you are supposed to ....

MOD1 being Discontinued
polecat replied to turnerj_2001's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Really??? In what way is the test (the road part) changing in October? I've heard that the examiner will ask you to lead him/her to a certain place, but wont give you any further instructions. i.e. 'we are now at ......., take me to ........' For approximately ten minutes you will be expected to navigate for yourself, under test conditions. That is absured many people take tests in areas they Do not even know and would have no idea how to get to what ever whim the examiner decided to pull out the hat "I failed my test today because I didnt know where McDonalds was" ???? -
MOD1 being Discontinued
polecat replied to turnerj_2001's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
I dont think they Can drop mod 1 as such because its a European Thing and if we want to Drive in the rest of europe we all have to have a simalar standard of Driving so they could only modify it at best which would mean Better test centers with more space for the hazard IMO it should be a Straight not a bend before the hazard this would be Much improved on what is not a terrible way to get the manouvers done (better and safer than on the road) in a controlled enviroment. -
Study like the wind ......use the test DVD from Halfords ! (got mine on ebay for £3)

bloody failed mod1 this morning
polecat replied to Takanta's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Belive me 2nd gear on a 125 kills it and I failed exactly the same way 1 km out! 2nd time I gunned it into 3rd coming out the bend and full throttle and that works !! Just belive that all the best RIders fail mod 1 ist time and you will nail it next time, just get your bike into 3rd coming out the bend !! Good luck -

I was told 1.mirror 2.signal 3.left lifesaver 4.position 5.left lifesaver 6.turn 7.cancel signal -
Although you can ride a "p" moped without any cbt or L plates you still have to Do the CBT for a bigger bike like a 125 then you will be on L plates until test passed . so Moped you have full licence , 125 you are a learner .....simples

Well, basically she tried mod2 on a 500, dropped it on an off-camber junction, lost her confidence and decided to try on a smaller, lighter bike. I would have thought the mod1 will still be valid for 2 years despite having passed mod 2 So she would have to take mod 1 on a 125 again and then mod 2 or just do mod 2 again onn a 500 ? that would make sence cos How can the DSA make her mod 1 pass on a 500 invalid when she passed it fair and square ? so that is what I reckon the outcome would be ,,a mod 2 retake on 500 or mod 1 & 2 on a 125 cos her mod 2 pass would be invalid cos she was on the wrong bike and you cant do mod 2 without doing mod 1 oh my head hurts

I would say on mod 1 the U turn was one of the easiest things ....it was pretty wide in fact and no kerb so the main failure on this manouver would be failing to lifesaver before the turn . The Hazard avoidance certainly needs countersteer and aiming at the Box you have to end up in makes the hazard more natural to avoid. As everyone says the main fail for hazard is A)hitting blue cone (going to fast possibly) or B not achieving the speed required (Dont throttle off until you leave the speed trap ) Once you have DOne it its easy ...its the thought of doing it that is hard

Thanks for reminding me Dan ....If the test was Super hard people would feel they earned it and when it used to be 3 times round the block I suppose people didn't get the same sense of satisfaction ? Its like why people climb everest I suppose,Why bother when you could take a helicopter Its the journey not the destination ...repeat 100 times

Great so after all that Suffering passing MOD 1 I'll end up having to Do all them manovers on the mod 2 Again I Really wonder if its all worth the hassle, I may take my PPL instead its most likely easier
