  2. if you havent found any big amounts of alloy swarf then you need t o check things out as it means it could still be laying in the bottom of the engine and also in the alternator case and clutch case.i would be taking both off to check all is clean and ok in there
  3. sprockets shouldnt make that much difference if its not revving into the red line in each gear its not imported from usa or japan is it as they had restrictors built into cdi box check out the numbers on the side of the cdi and if it has 2 plugs both with 4 pins in then i have one here also have the fuse panel that goes over handlebars and coils plus few odd brackets

  8. and only had 3 bolts and 5 washers left over from each bike

  11. as mega said you have the very top nut for holding top yoke in place just below the top yoke there is a normally round nut with 4 or 6 slots cut into it so get front end up in the air and see if you have got any forward and backwards movement if you have you can carefully move the nut under top yoke with screwdriver and a gentle tap
  12. has anyone in the cambs or east anglia area got access/use of a mig welder i need to weld a plate a few inches square into a custom rear guard where it had been badly bodged up(yes even worse than i would normally do it) so now need to inlay a plate and weld it in before filing and painting i can weld just havent got a welder

  16. yes use red rubber grease as it lubricates the seals as well. While you have got the seals out make sure the groove they sit in is cleaned out of all old crud and muck i use something with a fine point on it to make sure i get everything out use tissue to catch it in if needs be and once finished cleaning make sure u get all residue dust out

  20. if you are planning on selling the bike in a few months time hen serious consideration to welding it up would be my first thought as a few quid on welding is a lot less than a new pipe which wont increase value of bike by the amount the pipe cost you
  21. if you are still going to hardtail it is it not a bit pointless removing tabs and brackets untill you know where you are going to cut the frame as all the bits you cut off now might come off when you remove rear of frame anyway
  22. did you replace the small vaccum hose on the fuel tap and also make sure you havent pulled it off the inlet stub as it sounds like the fuel tap isnt opening
  23. indicators were never that good when the bikes were almost new due to being 6volt system mine used to stop flashing if i had the headlight on and the revs dropped to tickover
  24. instead of just trying to weld the holes closed which wont work it will just make them bigger if not very carefull use small plates of steel and tack onto the good metal futher down the pipe each side then dress it onto the pipe as you slowly weld it up worked on my 750 honda and ended up putting over 9 patches on that set of pipes
