I'd agree the CBT, it didn't seem enough training before we were out and about on the road and I was not 100% confident! The main problem being bike control at slow speeds, I did it but some of it was on a wing and a prayer

I got a pair of these Daytona Alkon as I wanted a pair of totally waterproof boots, which they are . They are also very comfortable and needed no breaking in, they aren't sports boots but for my general type of riding they are brilliant . I got them for £169 from HG in a sale

It's definitely STANDARD this is the one I took on my YBR125 - if you want to be restricted for two years

Really you need to try them on, they come in all shapes and sizes - when I went to get some ladies clothing I ended up with several different sizes, none of which was my usual size (12)! Even different style jackets within the same make of clothing fitted differently.

I've got the same jacket as Ruthie, it's brilliant in hot weather but if it turns a bit cold you soon notice the difference!

Sounds like you're doing the right thing but the road markings on the right lane should indicate straight ahead and right, a bit confusing if it has a right arrow only!

My bike is for leisure/fun only so I can't see the point of taking out it through choice when it's p*ssing down, windy or freezing cold and I will be suffering - so yes I am a fair weather biker

A quick question before I go ahead - I was going to put some up on Facebook (only my friends can see pics) and just add a link to the album here, but does anyone have objection to this, would you prefer I use Photobucket which is not open for people to see? Also pics of your bikes - are you happy for me to put them up and would you want me to leave out the ones which show number plates? I haven't the time to photoshop all of them!

You don't ride behind the board, the examiner stands away from you and watches you ride slowly to a controlled stop. It's basically as slow as you can without losing balance! I was never told a specific speed as such. The cones are in a straight line, can't remember if they are 4 or 5m apart - the measurements are somewhere on th DSA website. With the lifesaver you are supposed to look to where your blind spot is, I can't physically turn my head all the way round so just dropped my shoulder to look behind it.

I'm back safe too, Sue and I had to practise a lot of slow riding on the way!! First off small pony was loose on the road just a few yards from the pub after we left, it trotted up our side of the road and we couldn't get past it for ages; then Ashbourne had some kind of event on and we got caught in lots of slow moving traffic; then a car had broken down on a blind bend and was slowly rolling down the hill with hazards on . Anyway it was a brilliant weekend despite the rain we had - lots of new faces and some I've met before, everyone was friendly and made the most of it, and the turnout was great considering the weather. My first rally and I'm sure won't be the last! Thanks to all who organised it and everyone who came and made it into a really entertaining weekend (the fancy dress outfits were sooo funny!) I've just been laughing at the vids and pics - once I've got them uploaded I'll post a link

No advice to give I'm afraid, I was really nervous before both my tests (worse on the Mod 1 though). I was better once I got moving and just kept saying to myself YOU CAN DO THIS (and don't forget lifesavers/indicators/positioning etc) however still managed to forget a few lifesavers! . The examiners will expect you to be nervous but all they want to do is to see you ride safely and confidently, and you have got a fair bit of margin for error with the minors, so long as you don't do a serious/dangerous manoeuvre. I also told myself that the worst I could do is fail, and if that happens it's not the end of the world as I would then have more of an idea of what I needed to concentrate on. Best of luck!

I'm really sorry, but book another one asap and don't give yourself time to stress over it. I know that sometimes on my YBR during training I thought I had indicated but my instructor said I hadn't, I think you have to be very positive with how you push the indicators as it's easy to kind of slide over them if you arent careful - same applies to cancelling them. You WILL get that Mod2, and onto your Deauville!

Before you move off the examiner should ask if you can hear him, perhaps mention that your helmet is a bit noisy and can he turn up the apparatus. My examiner was quite softly spoken and I did have trouble hearing him at times, on one occasion I think I took the wrong exit from a roundabout but he just gave me further instructions to go back to where he wanted me to. Even if you go wrong, if you ride ok it's not a problem. I think if it was me and the exam was under way but I had trouble hearing, I'd pull over (making sure it was safe to do so) and ask if he could increase the volume. Not sure if this would affect your test but I can't see why if you ride safely. Good luck for Monday BTW!

I passed on my own bike, just took the L plates off and rode home (it felt SO good not to have those L-plates!! ).

I *think* the examiner told me that when you've passed Mod 1, you have until the expiry of your Theory test to take Mod 2. But better check the DSA site!

Well done! I think that it might depend on what examiner you have, and how lenient they are! I've heard of some people passing after doing something which I would have considered a fail, but that's academic, congrats!
