  1. Hi, have you checked that the pads are all seated properly? A hard bang could of knocked them out of line causing one of the pads to grab on the leading edge. Just a thought

    IOM TT

That's interesting, the Manx really is becoming popular! Glad to hear you go it sorted. It's on my list, especially watching the classics racing around the island. As for the TT, if anybody wants ferry tickets start enquiring now as this is the month when lots of people drop out as the full balance is due. As Del Boy would say, he who dares... We went over for a couple of days last year just loved it! Came back telling all sorts of tails in the pub. So we decided to drop our annual trip to Assen for the Dutch TT and do a week on the Island. The smell of Castrol R, screaming 2 strokes and the howl of 4 strokes from yesteryear run flat out, not a pop and bang parade lap has got to be seen and heard.

    IOM TT

I never understand the panic of getting to the TT, I've managed the last 2 times with no hassle at all. Well!! I got half way through making a group booking for the Manx TT in August last Friday afternoon when the web site came up with our outbound ferry as full - sold out. Had to call the Ferry company today and plea to get our last couple and bike on. They did managed to squeeze them on, but made it quite clear that there's absolutely no more spaces available. Heaven knows what the TT sailing are like?!

    Lose tank..

Tanks are normally mounted on rubber anti vibration mounts, there's should be some give but not loads.
  5. Good news, just be sure you get the helmet speakers in exactly the right place, a few mm off from being directly over your ears and there's a dramatic loss of sound. Put the speakers in the helmet first without the fixing then adjust until you get the sound and comfort sorted, then fix them in place with the Velcro provided.

    Stick coils

Well l wouldn't trust them again if there bottling just to change the plugs. They might of been unlucky to have one coil unit stuck, but to say they got to break the lot out well!!

    Stick coils

They lifting your leg Mate looks as easy as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GA4mafKilH8 If it's as easy as this video they need reporting
  8. Hi, the speakers and microphone are held place in the helmet with Velcro stickers. The control module is mounted onto a quick release bracket. The bracket is fixed to the helmet by a clamping device which slots between the helmet lining and the outside of the helmet http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/27115993 ... 108&ff19=0 Check out the mounting bracket, it's the fork looking thing on the parts list. It's all easy enough to fit
  9. Good write up there Mark, fair play for venturing over to Europe this time of the year, rather you than me business or not. Water proof gloves are a very hit and miss sort of thing, heated water proof gloves is really asking for to much l feel. I much prefer heated grips and a good pair of gloves and if l know lm in for a soaking over mitts. Agree, Hard panniers can be a pain, we have them for the Busa hardly ever use them these days, if there's any traffic to get through they make the Busa so wide it's almost impossible to slide by. Keeping an eye on the weather forecast l use the Marine site, gives a far bigger and accurate picture of what happening now and what's coming http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weat ... /#?tab=map. Safe journey home Mate, hope you catch a window in the weather

    Rear shock.

Suspension settings - set up is a real deep dark subject and you really need to have a read up on to do's and don'ts before you dive in. Jacking up the rear or lower the front can have a dramatic effect on how your bike handles. Some good information here. http://www.ohlins.com/Checkpoint-Ohlins ... rrubrik_1/ http://www.suspensionshop.org/tech_suspension_setup.php
  12. Means nothing unless you're a member of IAM... Are all members of IAM fault free and perfect, l very much doubt it?!
  13. My question to people who have posted on this thread is how many of you have gone through any form of advanced riding training? Not me either, but I've been riding motorbikes now for more than 40yrs and every day a learning day.
  14. Hi a motorbike gearbox is completely different to a car gearbox, you cannot block shift as you call it, the motorbike gearbox is sequential meaning you have to go up and down through the gears one after the other in sequence. Depending on your road speed you need to enter the bend with the gear changes and braking completed. This takes away all the dynamic forces loaded onto the tyres suspension and allows the bike to return a neutral position before you commence the turn. You then ride through the turn with a small amount of throttle driving you forward.
  15. advanced not really use it on the road yes I can do if I want and yes I have done if I was really pushing on then yes I would use it when I started riding if you could afford a slipper clutch in a bike you was minted either that or you had bought one and made it fit and work! you had to learn how to down shift without locking the rear whilst hard on the front brake!
  16. Yes l would use this on the road, your really going to be pushing the bike to get the slipper clutch to work on the road. treat that like ABS and traction control as the last resort
  17. Rarely use the back brake everything done with the front and engine. High speed emergency braking l might cover the rear only to stop the backend coming round whilst going down through the gears. Most bikes have enough engine brake whilst on the move to slow the rear wheel down. Even on hill starts it's a finger covering the front brake, lift the rev's feed in the clutch release brake and go. Back brake not much use here lol https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... king+photo As for braking in a corner, if need's be it's again on the front. The bike will have a tendency to stand up you if you not fully cranked over! Remember you should leave yourself enough room to brake within your vision of road. If you hammering into a corner cranked right over and cannot see through to the exit of the bend totally committed - cock on the block then need to brake you'll quickly find that the front wheel will try to tuck under - wash out, not nice and definitely not clever. Leave that for the track days
  18. All those points of interest are on my list megawatt, money wise l think it well doable unless you like to eat out and be waited on and like a big booze "that's not us" That was some haul you did there with your caravan how long did it take you?
  19. Depends on where you want to go. the trip in the video.. unless Ive missed something is spent entirely in the southern end of the country.. south of Trondheim anyway.. and thats only halfway to the Arctic circle and only a third of the way to Nordkapp. The country is vast.. even with a fortnight you're going to severely limit yourself so will have to pick and choose. Riding from brevik to nordkapp is similar to riding from London to Italy in distance terms.. So, maybe it would be a good idea to keep to the south and take your time. Though to my mind the main reason for going to norway is to cross the arctic circle.. a genuine achievement. Nordkapp? not so much. But... definitely the Lofoten islands. in fact if there was one destination to have in mind.. it really would have to be the Lofoten and the road that runs almost their entire length... all 227 miles of it. (not including detours) http://goo.gl/maps/UTU7z http://www.sailingyachts.com/scandinavia/s_lofoten.jpg Cheers for that info Mate it's is a big place. l've built a route that keeps us to the south - middle of Norway at the moment similar to the video. Still loads to see and do.
  20. Hi Shorty, are you saying that there trip was done at a push in 9 days? Agree the longer the better but we have to be realistic, we are looking at two weeks going by Immingham. That route alone should save us best part of a week getting just getting there and back.
  21. Apparently so Stu, but my god it's got to be done. We would camp, but if you take the tourist routes do hotel's and restaurant's then be prepared for some big hits. camp sites are reasonable, fuel at this moment in time is £1.65lt for unleaded not cheap but doable. I just need to find a window in the working year for us to put this plan on launch.
  22. This video has grabbed me even more it captures it all, awesome tour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FERHORVWx3A
  23. Joeman yes there stereo, that's exactly what l have done. Our helmets don't offer enough free space for the supplied in helmet speakers so l disconnected them and soldered a 3.5mm stereo jack in there place we use these noise cancelling speakers http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00D ... 35WV72JMVR crystal clear music and com's right up to silly speeds.
  24. Good to hear you've got your money back. Agree they should be named and shamed.
  25. whats the music quality like? i bought a really cheap set that worked, but the music sounded like an old gramophone!! If you an Phil are both using this one, i think i'll buy one too... I've got a set of these too for the Busa, value for money and sound quality can't be beaten
