  1. Personally l think that every bike sold in the northern hemisphere should come fitted with heated grips as standard. I've been out on the bike when it's been that cold l couldn't pull on the levers, on reflection it was bloody stupid and dangerous. The first thing l fit on changing my bike is heated grips
  2. Fair play for having a go, as already said plenty of help from the internet these days to give you step by step instructions. before you start just be sure you have all the correct tools and parts at hand. If you not sure you know where we are.
  3. I've done Venice back home in one hit in the car that was one hell of a drive, doing the same on a bike is a massive ask. Give yourself a bigger window just in case you run out of steam.
  4. Avon Skin so soft Mate, works a treat with no side affect I used whilst working nights shifts on a drilling rig in Africa not a single bite, also used by the military in jungle warfare. Here's some feedback http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bottles-Avon-Or ... merReviews
  5. Hi, when the bike is on it's centre stand is the rear wheel rotating at all when you engage gear? Whilst it's on the centre stand put your foot on the rear brake pedal and lock up the rear wheel then try it. If it wont go in gear, l would say it's a clutch issue, your clutch is not fully disengaging.
  6. Hi, passing your test is one thing gaining experience is another! Some take to it like a duck to water others take a little longer. I've been riding bikes more than 40yrs and everyday is a learning day, there's always something new waiting round the corner that's life! Take it one step at a time, take notes, listen up, be alert and enjoy.
  7. Hi l would say your running it to hard in 1st, it's not easy to get it to slip into 2nd with the engine and gears spinning at that sort of speed hence the clunk and grind. A motorbike gearbox is none synchromesh, you've got to match the crankshaft - engine revs to the selected gear, if you don't get it spot on it will grind or clunk. Far better to get it out of first as soon as possible then start to power on.
  8. Mounts, power supplies all to be found here mate. http://www.ultimateaddons.com/
  9. Silverstone is hideously expensive compared to a lot of circuits. I looked into going to the British F1 GP weekend this year...even with the extra travelling..it would be quite a bit cheaper to go to Spa! We done Spa for the F1 there's not a circuit to touch it, awesome
  10. Hi personally l don't like the circuit, the viewing is poor unless you pay a small fortune for a grandstand seat, parking and camping is also silly money. If you want to go and see the Gp done proper then get yourself to Holland. The Dutch do the GP on a far grander scale. The town of Assen for the week is just mega, you can get cracking deals for the ferry across from Harwich to the Hook of Holland, its a 3hr drive from there to the circuit camping and tickets are all at realistic prices. I'll bet if you total up the cost of going to Silverstone grandstand tickets, parking, camping and all you be on similar numbers for going to Assen including the Ferry.
  11. Another one for the phone and co pilot
  12. Fingers crossed
  13. Hi Bex, my money on the radiator cap, if that plug was leaking at the bottom of the radiator l would of thought it would be leaking all the time. You say that the water escapes when you stop, that coincides with the temperature rise in the water due to the cooling system pooling on the hot standing engine. Whilst your at it, l would suggest you take that bottom plug out and reseal it anyway. Use some Loctite thread sealant paste comes in a small tube readily available Halfords and the like, there's no point in filling the system knowing that your staring at a possible weak spot "best to be belt and braces" Other have mention internal sealant's I personally would hold fire on that until you stopped the external leaks around the radiator fittings first. Best of luck
  14. I agree Stu, that's the reason we went for the Angel Gt's, not wanting to compromise grip on wet or dry roads, these tyres are purpose built sports touring tyres built for all roads and conditions, rather than super sport tyres that need heat and dry roads to get the best out of them. Yep it's a nice feeling going out on a set of fresh rubber
  15. Hi Bex this is all done from cold. The radiator need to be full and the expansion bottle between the lines. Have you not got you Halfords discount card via this site yet? Anyway, l would fill it up with the correct mixture you can mix it yourself but it cheap enough to buy it premixed, you don't need gallons of the stuff for what you need. I wouldn't use rad seal of any sort on a bike engine and in your case there's no need as your leak is external from your rad cap we think? Have you sourced a replacement cap? There's one here should you need one. Hope your soon sorted http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/CB60 ... part_5976/
  16. Hmmm that radiator doesn't look healthy l have to admit, someone has messed with it and not fixed it proper. The scaling of the paint from the neck of the redcap down suggest its been leaking for a while. I wonder what sort of a problem happened at the bottom of the rad and what was used to seal it??? Hopefully Bex, it's going to be a red hot summer the last thing you want is a weak radiator. Have the garage give you a quote to sort it and get back. Might be a good idea to start fishing for a replacement and have them fit it.
  17. lol It is until you need them!
  18. Puncture repair kit, bike tool kit, clear visor if out with a dark visor, visor wipes, side stand support for soft ground parking, padlock, waterproofs, phone and wallet.
  19. Hi chris, the cap wont turn at all as far as I could see until the locking screw is out of it. I tried and tried with several sized screwdrivers and it just wont budge, even tried a little wd40 type stuff on it but no joy Morning Bex, l've just done a little search! You learn something new everyday! Your radcap do's indeed have a locking screw which needs to be removed before you can get the cap off. If the screw is really solid and won't move there ways and means of getting it out but unless you have know how and tools you could end up buggering up the screw head. If your taking the bike in for a service l would leave it and let the mechanic's sort it.
  20. Hi Bex, there's a safety catch on the rad cap you first turn it a quarter turn anti clock wise until you hit the stop then press down on the cap and turn anti clock again to release it. it's to stop the cap blowing off in your face if released under pressure.

    Blown bulb

12.75 volts is that with the motor running and the light switch on?
  22. Hi, as Stu say's, the plugs will be fine so tick that one off, If you have a bike pump or syringe you can use that to draw out some of the excessive water form the expansion bottle rather than trying to syphon it out "it taste nasty lol". Put the hose from the bike pump or syringe into the bottle draw the water out until you get the correct level on a cold engine please. I would sooner see the level correct rather than run the risk of cooling water getting onto your tyres.
  23. The service price I was quoted was £150 and that includes oil & filter, brake service (Which they said they would put my pads in if I brought them along), spark plug inspection and a "26 point visual health check". They told me they would not carry out any additional work without consulting me first. That price sounds pretty fair to be honest, l think in your case that's the way l would go. Doing a service without stands and the right tools is not easy even for experienced one's amongst us. Get it booked in and ask if you can watch over the service, they might just let you? Tell them is just to gain a bit of knowledge of what to look out for in the future - safety check wise. Do that rather that than learn by mistakes.
  24. A motorcycle chain going to make a little bit of noise whilst on the move it a hefty piece of metal meshing with the sprockets, what you don't want is a clicking sound, a noise out of sync with the rest of the chain. That normally down to tension a tight spot or a dry link, miss alignment or in extreme cases hooked or broken teeth on the sprockets
  25. These tires are far too good, I feel far too happy riding on them If your that happy with them why change ??? I've got the Angel GT's fitted to the Busa awesome tyres, if l find something to my liking l'll take some convincing to change.
