  1. Hi nice idea but the reason a magnet is put at the bottom of the sump is to catch the larger particles that might break off from the engine- gearbox internals. The engine sump is not pressurised so in theory any heavy objects should sink to the bottom of the sump and catch the magnet. Whereas the oil filter is pressurised, that magnetic tape will be magnetic material bonded onto a tape can you be sure that the bonding agent will stay intact under high engine temperature and pressure? If it starts to break up it could cause you all sorts of problems.
  2. Hi Cath the whole point of the exercise of changing from a wired system to a blue tooth system was to get rid of the arsing about togging up. I've tried to run with helmet speakers before the sounds fine but l've always encountered tight spots with the helmets l have after fitting. "having a big head doesn't help lol" . I will see if l can get a additional mike - speaker loom and modify it, will keep you posted
  3. Hi Cath well that's where l am at the moment, my Shark helmet has a very shallow recess for the ears, on fitting the supplied speakers units the helmet become tight and painful, come the warm weather on a long ride this will be a no no. As l see at the moment my only option is to fit a small jack plug to allow me to use my in ear phones which have been fine so far. Only issue is that l might screw the warranty doing this. Life it's never easy
  4. Not sure Mate l'll let you know, this one suppose to be able to pair up to 5 riders Have to say we are very sceptical at the moment due to the price but they do look OK, the other systems we looked at were least £200.00 more Batteries are on charge at the moment l will complete the install later. Question Mate, how did you get on fitting the speakers my helmet is a fairly tight fit, these speakers look like there going to be uncomfortable. If needs be l'll have to do a mod and fit my inear units.
  5. Hi Mate, the interphone works by radio contact between the 2 head sets no need to make a phone call. As it say's up to 800m metre between the headsets. You just press a button on the head set to com the other head set. Sat nav and your mobile phone connect to the headset via blue technology. l've just opened the box to the 1000m units it will pair up multiple headset great if it works, will keep you posted. Little Cat already has your system l'm sure she will along to give you a low down. There already a link running on these units if you search.
  6. All to easy to start swopping out parts until it works but can cause unnecessary expense. First do some diagnostics and find the fault. It could be the reg/rec as mentioned, or it might just be a stupid battery connection.
  7. I think all this needs to be put into the driving test schedule to make sure everyone knows there legal duties of keeping a motor vehicle.
  8. Mine field Mate! And you will only find out you've stood on one when it all go's wrong!
  9. Hi and welcome, l hate to disappoint you but l think you have literally missed the boat! The ferry crossings would have all been snapped up by now, you can check here. http://www.steam-packet.com/ The ferry crossings to the IOM is nothing short of a scandal, you can get to Ireland cheaper sailing straight by the place. If you really want to go you need to be making bookings January to stand any chance of a sailing.
  10. Yuk!! That filter looks nasty! That would be a clear indicator to me of a badly kept bike
  11. Hi Guy's just a couple of questions: Are these head sets stereo or mono? Also can these units be linked up to more than one other head set Cheers
  12. New oil new filter, why would you put new oil through a dirty filter?
  13. This sounds interesting Cat any links? Having read many report and complaints regarding the more expensive units for that sort of money is not to painful worth a go.
  14. I will second that, having had a Garmin street pilot which worked fine "do's even now" the only down side was a lack memory storage, you needed to upload maps and load memory sticks off a PC. Anyway I change my computer which came with a new operating system. When l contacted Garmin requesting a updated disc to allow me to connect my sat nav there response was its now outdated now no new disc you need to buy a newer model, the Street pilot was working fine at the time and cost hundreds new! Not a chance! I now use my Samsung galaxy 3 with co pilot live works a treat.
  15. As the title say's, we are sick of the wires - connections on our intercom system things have moved on technology wise so l thinks its time to go Blue tooth any recommendation - feed back would be grateful.
  16. Its possible but it do's not stop there, you will probably need to seat and foot pegs moving back to make it comfortable. I would suggest leave it as it is, or change the bike
  17. Well folks would you believe it!! On removing my phone from its case lase night the cover clip broke JOY! I contacted Ultimate addons this morning along with a pic of the broken clip. There response was an replacement case has been dispatched today so for customer services they also get a 5 stars from me as well. By the way, l have had the case for just over a year so first thought was l was stuffed, just go's to show.
  18. Morning, you have to remember that a motor bike gear box is a constant mesh gear it is not none synchromesh like a car hence the need to blip the throttle slightly to match the engine speed with the selected gear. No need to touch the lever unless your changing gear, some boxes are very trigger happy. This video might help you ">
  19. Try a hot air blower l would not use a flame you liable to burn the seal in the valve, a smear a grease should stop it sticking in the future. Or secondly run a hacksaw blade down it to spilt the cap open.
  20. Made that quite clear thanks Mate, Sticking pads normally mean sticking piston - pistons. So a good clean up is in order, and check the float on the disc's if they are floaters
  21. yes that is bollocks they are there to stop the pads ratling not hold them away from the discs kiss your own arse as you pull your head from up your arse go back to your books mr super mechanic Lol almost choked on my Chinese takeaway reading this. Are they not call anti squeal shims Stu?
  22. And the attitude of the person getting pulled over... you sure your lad didnt get lippy with the copper? Err Nope! My brother is 50yrs old and a truck driver. He just told him that he was checked over the week before by the Notts police and they commended him on keeping a nice and tidy bike and that they even gave him a biker aware package. The copper response was "they were not doing there Job" This same copper then got on his hands and knees to check my bike over a done me for a none standard pipes Yoshi R7's which everybody and is dog has on a Busa! My partner Sue who was riding with me is a lawyer said, that it was totally uncalled for. As said it's down to the copper on the day!! PS needless to say, neither one of us have altered our bikes and we have been all over Europe since.
  23. You try telling this to the Lincolnshire police biker who nicked our kid on the spot for £60 his plate was and still is the same size as Stu's. It's all down to the copper on the day! If he's sticking to the book your nicked.
  24. Mines almost over by then 9.5 is the top end power on mine with a 10.5k redline gotta love lazy bikes 8k in top on the Busa is looking at jail time ">
  25. From MCN: A surprise, to say the least. The Kawasaki ZZ-R600 looks so docile by today’s standards yet twist the throttle and a ridiculous surge of power carries you up to the 14,000rpm redline in no time. The Kawasaki ZZ-R600 engine is reliable, grunty enough low down and positively mental at anything above about 4000rpm. Bloody hilarious! You've not even touch what's lurking underneath yet mate take your time and ease yourself into it. Number one stay Safe and sod the rest
