  1. I think you're going for the right sort of thing. By all accounts, the GS is a good option because it carries its weight low, but anything in that style would be a more comfortable fit. My Tiger Explorer 1200 is a big old lump, but once you get it going it's fine. Wide bars make it easy to hustle around. Even if you don't want to test ride, most showrooms will be happy to let you take the weight of the bike and have a sit on for size. Have fun shopping
  2. Great news, congratulations
  3. 1. It's all practice. For the fig. 8 and U turn : An hour or two in a car park and you'll probably have it down. Bit of back brake, steady throttle, enough lean, shifting your weight on the seat, fine clutch control, not too slow so that you fall, not so fast that you go wide, head turned and eyes focused on where you want to be. Once you have the confidence, you'll be fine. 2. You can fail, but probably not for the stall, more for how you recover from it (or don't). 3. Yes, do a full car park lesson if you can. Bit boring for the instructor but worth it. 4. Depends. If you already drive you'll understand much more about general roadcraft. Observations are very important, also cancelling indicators. Easy things to forget. Your instructor will be able to give you a good idea of how many lessons you need. They won't want to put you forward before you're ready.
  4. Hi
  5. They should make them sound like this..
  6. Gen 1. Tiger Explorer 1200 . I might do a little vid/write-up - amateur guide to fitting your own tyres.
  7. Needs optimising for mobile. Couldn't submit #2 on Firefox / Android.
  8. Apropos of nothing, look what showed up today...
  9. Girls changing motorcycle tyres. What an excellent idea. I shall inform Mrs. Fiddlesticks forthwith.
  10. Similar. I ended up joining the M56 in the middle of a group of bikes on my ride home. Let them all get past me then brought up the rear. Had sort of assumed they were heading north towards the IoM ferry, but they carried on towards Wales. It's nice to be out of the winter riding gear - no getting togged up at the end of my shift. Just helmet, jacket and gloves, a few U turns in the car park, then away.
  11. Cleaned corrosion from the microswitch on the front brake lever. Brake lights more worky now. Also refitted the tank after sorting the corroded light connector. There's a theme developing here.. A bit of heat shrink on the wire to the spotlights replacing the messy wraps of electrical tape. Last job, new rear pads. Test ride to Southport to watch the sunset. Now relaxing in Westherspoons as its the only place serving food this late.
  12. Went for a ride to the Old Stores to use up the rest of the fuel, then took the tank off to replace the air filter and fix the six pin light connector. Messy job, managed to catch most of the petrol. Air filter no problem, but replacing the connector is proving tricksome. They're fiddly little beggars. Makes me think how the fancy new Tiger we saw at Chester Triumph on the way home would be nice. Three year warranty... Hmmm...
  13. That's a strong contender for fun/obscure fact of the day! I thought that might be the case. There are lenses that are supposed to overcome this, but at a price.
  14. Does anyone use photochromic/self-tinting glasses for riding in? I know they're not supposed to work behind a car windscreen, but what about a helmet visor?

    Hi

    Nice bikes
  19. If you didn't want to get a wheel balancer you could funnel in some dyna beads.
  20. For the bikes with centre stands I get them delivered and fit them myself. Quite enjoy the process, but you need a compressor, levers, wheel balancing kit, tools, ability to not scratch wheels (or worry too much about it) tyre paste etc. Don't have a bead breaker - I find using the levers is fine. It's part technique, part brute force.
  21. I don't think you can even tell the age of the vehicle from the plate?
  22. I found it cheaper and more convenient to change my name to FN13 KPC
