  2. Yes. Going across the Holy Island Causeway with the tide mostly out. We couldn't quite see, but toes got a bit wet. Turned out to be a corroded plug buried deep under the tank.
  3. Shocking behaviour. Seriously some people have no clue.
  4. Pics... We need pics
  5. Changed the brake fluids on the Explorer and found me exhaust hanging orf I have a little welder in the cellar, but I think I'll leave this one for the garage.
  6. Well this week was my opportunity to claw back some Challenge 2024 points - had a load of routes planned out, some two days, others three. One particularly fun one taking in Hardknott Pass. Best laid plans, and all that. Instead, a full week of painting, decorating, fitting skirtings, cleaning, pressure washing and finally replacing alarm sensors. Managed to blow two fuses in the main unit, and the only short notice replacements were via a trade pack of about a million from YESS. Still cheaper than an alarm engineer. New to me wide-angle APSC lense arrived yesterday, so lots of photos of Fiddlesticks Towers taken for Purplebricks. Finally today managed to get out on the bike. First to the Ponderosa, then Lake Vyrnwy Dam (not my picture). Back home via the Tap where they've built a new stage in the garden and a blues rock three-piece are shredding it. My advanced course starts next week, so chances of catching up on Challenge 2024 are slim. Ach well, there's always next year.
  7. Happy birthday
  8. Well, you saw him and dodged him - call it a win. Hope you get your refund sorted.
  9. I feel for you. When I did mine I put a foot down on the figure 8 - never did it before in practice. You'll get there.
  10. Hi, welcome in
  11. Best mpg gain is only choosing routes that are downhill.
  12. I'm a bit OCD about recording costs and fuel in the Fuelio app: Tiger Explorer 1200 48 mpg. XJR1300 42 mpg. Thunderbird 46 mpg.
  13. Hi, welcome in
  14. We have the cool covers. Not cheap for the originals, but OK. Main benefit is cooling, as the name would suggest, but they do make things a bit more comfortable. Also allows water to drain, although this doesn't prevent wet bum syndrome on its own.
  15. I got 10,200 miles out of the last Michelin Road 5 rear, which would tally with your 8k plus plenty to spare. Not bad going, all told.

  17. I've used these guys in the past, they have a motorbike section : https://www.jdmplates.co.uk/smallest-motorcycle-number-plates/
  18. I only seem to get 12 months / 12,000 miles out of my visor. After a while the pinlock seems to work a little loose and scratch the inside of the visor, so I end up replacing both. Bit pricey at £75. Have bought a polishing kit to attempt to buff out the scratches on the old visor, but early attempts were not great (too much speed/friction caused heat-related marks). Now I have the new one fitted I can try again. Once fitted, I never really touch the pinlock. Will make a mental note to adjust the oval-shaped cams over time to keep the pinlock tight. Any other thoughts or experiences, or is this just par for the course?
  19. More decorating, followed by a ride over to Doncaster on Sunday to wish our nephew a happy birthday.
  20. My Richa typhoon one-piece rainproof suit wasn't.

    new here.

    Hi
  22. I'd say make yourself very visible (consider a fluorescent / reflective vest) and stay in lane 1. Joining traffic will have to figure it out for themselves, and if you really need to let them in you can ease off the gas to make a bigger gap ahead. Lorries only go at 55mph, the only difference is that they don't feel intimidated due to their size. Make sure your horn works to warn others if they're getting too close. Counterintuitively, I would think it safer to fully occupy the lane rather than hug the verge, which might encourage close overtakes from vehicles in lane one. Trust that nobody wants the paperwork of running into you and make them go around you. The road is a shared space, and people have to deal with tractors, cyclists, horse riders etc.
