  1. All back together, along with the new steering head bearings. (Two birds, one stone etc.) Test ride done. No leaks. We live to ride another day. Thanks all.
  2. It seems to depend what link format you use - sometimes it does it automatically.
  3. It's def. looking like the seals. Put new Slinky Glides on and straightaway they feel snug and tight. Fresh oil (fully synthetic this time) which means they've had a good flush after being left draining last night. You never know until you ride, but they're all back together and bouncing around on them reveals not a hint of misting - just the tiniest bit of rubber grease residue. 10x better than last time. Still cheaper than going to the garage, but I wanted to learn how to do it anyway, so a bit of a failure was not a big deal. Although... Two days commuting by car an I'm climbing the walls! Will reassemble and test ride tomorrow.
  4. * Fiddlesticks tries to work out if @RideWithStyles is being ironical..
  5. Well, I've gone and stuffed that up! Following quite a detailed workflow, but obviously missed something. New SKF seal kit - tapped in with a seal driver. (The right way up.) As soon as under load they're dripping. I've taken them all apart again and ordered replacements, just to be on the safe side.
  6. I have a couple of their rechargeable alarmed disc locks. They've been fine for 2-3 years.
  7. Hammered out the headstock bearing cups. Hammered in the new ones. Didn't think to wear ear defenders. Now feel like I've been at a Motörhead gig.
  8. @RideWithStylesNah, not a dealer - local shop. Not sure at they used. Believe it or not, it's well within the posted service schedule: That's 40,000 miles! The workshop manual I'm using disagrees with that strongly. Yes, that is the plan. New bushings, seals etc. Might as well give it the works.
  9. All good points. Appreciated It's a question of getting a baseline at the moment. The oil in the forks has been in for 2 years and 26,000 miles. Last time it was done by the garage, so no clue what brand or weight was used. The plan is to start with Motul 7.5W, using the @husoi method of 5W mixed with 10W - due mostly to availability. Recording all the settings and volumes should give a good starting point if tweaking is required.
  10. I'm not going to nominate the daft woman who pulled out on me on the way home. Nor the kid on L plates just round the corner who did the same then stopped in the middle of the road. Nor the lady in a Nissan Quashai who decided to emerge from yet another side road without checking it was clear. All easily anticipated and dealt with. The mere buzzing of a gnat, young grasshopper. No, tonight's prize goes to "Mubashar" from DPD who delivered my fork oil on time. And signed for. And with confirmation photo. TO SOMEBODY ELSE'S RUDDY HOUSE!!!
  11. Sorry, not familiar with action cams, but if your helmet has a mic and communicator (senna/cardo/fodsports) you could connect it to your phone and use something like the paid version of Easy Voice Recorder app which can record direct from Bluetooth. Then it's just a simple job of syncing up audio and video tracks.
  12. Genius idea @husoi Nice to have options. I'll start at 7.5 and work up next time if needed.
  13. The Tiger Explorer 1200 manual says 5w fork oil, but my usual style of riding is to push on a bit, often with a pillion. I'm thinking of going to Motul 7.5w. (No idea what's in there at the moment.) Seem like a reasonable idea?
  14. Guilty M'Lud. Every time I see a block of 4 parking spaces. They draw me in like a moth to a light bulb. Even Mrs, Fiddlesticks has stopped bothering complaining about it. It's weird, the Tiger I'm fine on at slow speeds. Although the Thunderbird carries it's weight low, I don't find the forward pegs massively confidence inspiring.
  15. Hi, Welcome in, you'll be sure to find some helpful folk here.
  16. This can be arranged...
  17. I'm thinking about investing in a fork oil level tool. K-Tech Fork Oil Level & Air Gap Tool - £93.30 Ebay Special Fork Oil Level Tool 60ml Fork Oil Tool Kit Fork Oil Tool Gauge Fork Oil Syringe £9.11 Buy cheap, buy twice? Anyone have any recommendations?
  18. Happy birthday
  19. Mrs. Fiddlesticks agrees. I'm easy either way. Hotels it is, then.
  20. Och! we're away for Easter. Let us know how it goes, and if there is a justgiving/givesendgo or similar?
