  1. We got the Fodsports FX2 - but it's just for the two of us. If I was riding with a group it would have to be the Cardo Packtalk I think.
  2. My car tyre once picked up a dirty great threaded stud which somehow lodged itself with the nut on the inside of the tyre. The rubber closed around the thread and sounded exactly like a knackered wheel bearing as the exposed metal ground itself into the road surface. The best part was, it was a brand new tyre, and somehow a replacement was covered under the tyre's warranty.
  3. Sounds like I'm probably over thinking it, 5mm is about where it is. I do like those Evotech levers though
  4. Was out on a bit of a ride today. Accidentally just brushed the clutch lever and realised the amount of travel required to get it to slip was very little. This, together with a recent comment from a Triumph mechanic, who said the clutch was a bit noisy has got me thinking it might be time to get it looked at. Anyone have any experience of this, what it might involve, and whether it's a garage job or something an enthusiastic amateur might give it a go?
  5. Good to know Had it been a Spanish restaurant I might have blagged millón being the translation for million....
  6. Hi Ian. Mine's a 2013 (Gen 1). The software is TigerTool. Might be worth a try.
  7. A while ago, I bought a Bluetooth OBD tool to plug into the car and connect to my Android phone. Today, I plugged it into the Triumph Tiger Explorer and connected it to my Windows laptop. With the help of some software kindly provided on the Tiger Explorer forum, I reduced my service intervals (who goes 10k miles between oil changes?!) and reset the little service warning spanner on the dash.
  8. Oh no! I've just realised that the owners of the. Grand Million* have spelled their name wrong! They've gone and written the Grand Millon. (I'll just take the grand.) *Turns out my logic was not as inarguable as I thought
  9. Pubs/Cafes #10 - The Billion* *As we all know, a Grand is one thousand, ergo Thousand Million = Billion. (As per my inarguable logic ) Edit: D'oh! See here.
  10. Good morning. Bike wouldn't start today. Checked ignition, wasn't in gear with side stand down, display didn't look right. Turned it off and on again. No joy. Scratched head... Twenty seconds later remembered the kill switch that I never use. Must have been the mice again.
  11. Congratulations, that's one beautiful machine
  12. Good food at the Refreshment Rooms.
  13. Different engines have different characteristics. I have an inline four muscle bike (still no offers, hint hint ) a parallel twin cruiser, and a triple cylinder adventure bike. The inline four is smooth and torquey. And, due to the aftermarket exhaust, loud. Probably too loud for polite company. The cruiser does not quite have the whop whop sound of the big Harley v twins but it's deep, resonant and very pleasing to the ear. The Triple sounds like a tractor mated with a bag of spanners until you get it over 5000 revs, at which point it takes on a visceral roar. This lessens the frustration of listening to it rattle and clunk away at tickover speeds.
  14. ... Somewhere between murder and suicide
  15. Hi - looking very nice, that.
  16. I cycle. Not as much as I should. I've had people shouting abuse at me from passing cars. Close passes at speed. Buses pulling out on me. People flying up behind me and blasting their horns, causing me to cramp up. Do I think all car drivers are aggressive morons? Of course not. Most of them are very decent, it's just the idiots you remember. I shake my head and get on with my day. If they don't understand that the road is a shared space it's hardly my fault. I get the fact that it's inconvenient to a car driver to be impeded in his progress by a peleton of cyclists. But then again, it would be equally inconvenient to happen across a fallen tree, and nobody would be angry at the tree. Things are what they are. Everyone has their own priorities, no point getting all antsy. It did get me thinking about the nature of tribal loathing though. My theory is that it's always easier to direct one's rage against another group, rather than deal with the demons within. A kind of modern-day scapegoat, which is a bit too Old Testament for my liking. Your mileage, as they say, may vary.
