    Servicing?

Easy peasy two cylinders or four.
  2. Meeting a mate at Wessons, Horam at 1200, heading northwest after?
  3. Don't suppose you can get an angle grinder near it.? Try tightening the bolt/nut until it shears.
  4. My Fireblade streetfighter has two pages of mods declared to the insurance company plus a load I forgot to mention. It's my bike and I'll do what I want to it. I don't care about what anybody else thinks, coz it's MY bike. As for factory streetfighters, don't get me started on that one.
  5. Try disconnecting them further up the loom. Should be push fit connector?
  6. This thread is dealing with big bore kit and cylinder head mods Stu. Plans are afoot to improve how fuel/air gets in and how gas gets out.
  7. Getting back to the original point of this thread, that is, whether to do the big bore kit first or the cylinder head work. My mate, who's bike it is and who will supply the cash for any work done, has decided, after advice from myself and other T100 owners, to buy the big bore kit first. Unfortunately we may have to work on the head at the same time. Today I checked the valve clearances. All the inlets are in spec and all the exhausts are under minimum tolerance. One of them is 0.05mm, ie 0.20mm less than the minimum. I suspect that the exhaust valves may need some work because of this, so I will be removing the head, stripping it and have the valves refaced and seats cut. While the head is off I was already planning to clean it up and do some minor gas flow mods, but if I can extract some more cash from the owner, we may go for a full gas flow including port re-angling. Probably keeping original valves and cams, but may try some modifications to cam timing. This could be a long , drawn out job.
  8. My mate reckons it does. Chain may be a bit close to rubber guides at front of swingarm. Time will tell if they wear excessively. Could just fit a bigger rear sprocket, but it's twice the price and we just wanted to try it. May go for a 45 tooth rear at some stage. Valve clearances are important, as another mechanic set them too big , in my opinion, and it may have affected the valve timing a lot. I intend buying a degree wheel and checking the valve timing and maybe adjust it for less top end and more mid range
  9. I managed to find a 16tooth front sprocket and fitted it. My mate loves the extra acceleration. Doing valve clearances this week.
  10. Read the title of the thread. We all know that Japanese road rockets are faster. It,s a. Hinckley Triumph twin he wants faster, not a swap to a completely different type of bike.
  11. No , I was right the first time. You don't get it. If you can't make a meaningful contribution to the thread, then keep your opinions to yourself.
  12. You really don't get it do you mate.
  13. If the speedo isn't driven off the front wheel, it may be driven off a gearbox sensor. Changing the gearing may affect your speedo reading. It's a good mod to lower the gearing, but you may need to buy a speedo healer or just remember the difference at different speeds in different gears.
  14. Good plan. Chain breaker/rivetters need a certain amount of mechanical sympathy. Is your Speedo driven off front wheel?
  15. Thanks for that Bob. I have eMailed Bob Farnham, T3 Tuning(next door to BF) and Norman Hyde. Not even an acknowledgement after 3 days? Bobs price of around £1000 for the full job, 904 kit and headwork, is half what my mate was quoted by Bob ? Gonna stick with the big bore kit, probably via Norman Hyde for time being, at least until my mate gets another slug of cash.
  16. Thanks Bob. Was browsing the RAT forum and saw your name. Just waiting for acceptance email. That article would be useful. Have heard claims of 80bhp , but 97 is awesome, if true.
  17. Good man. Have you got a chain breaker/rivetter? Do you know how to use it?
  18. With a broken O ring, that link will seize fairly soon and the chain could snap. I'd replace that link.
  19. Sorry Steve. I know Joe. It works well if everything else done first. A local tuning shop in Wrotham sugested a gas flow instead of a big bore kit, for similar money !!!
  20. Ah sorry mate. Sense of humour failure there. If you ever want any help with the bike, that you can't cope with, just ask or bring it to mine . You never know , you might learn something. Yes Alan, a top end blitz is planned, but he's pleading poverty at the moment, so best VFM would be the big bore kit. I am going to check valve clearances next week and if I can get hold of a suitable degree wheel, I will check and adjust the valve timing to optimum.
  21. Yeah, thanks guys, I think we might start with the big bore kit. The exhausts are non standard Triumph cans, that are a bit less restrictive but not loud. Strangely they are stamped" Not for road use", fitted by a Triumph dealer and not picked up on the last MOT ??? Valve clearances will be the first job, but a few O rings and gaskets will need replacing for checks and then shims need ordering and fitting with cams out. Just need my mate to leave it with me for a week, as he's going to Brightona on Sunday. When we take the head off to fit the big bore kit, I will strip and clean it and do the valve guide checks, fit new seals and have the valves refaced and seats recut for max compression. The gas flow job will have to wait for a cash injection, but to be honest, as it's been priced at around £1000 ( shock, horror ), I think we will see what performance is like before committing to it. My mate wants to change the carbs for Dellortos or ,god forbid, Amals, so I think a carb expert will be needed for rejetting etc, after airbox mods. Phew!!!
  22. Are you saying you don't or I don't ?
  23. I've been asked by a friend of a friend to make his Hinckley Bonneville quicker and faster. It goes ok at higher revs, but very little at bottom end and midrange. Don't know the revs, as there is no tacho. Not sure what the top speed should be, but as there's not much accel at bottom end, I've just reduced the front sprocket from 17 to 16 teeth. It revs a lot easier and pulls like a train up to 100mph(on the track). Still don't know what the top speed is though. Gonna leave the gearing as is for now and have a look at the valve clearances and valve timing to see if it's anywhere near what it should be. My friend is thinking of a 904cc Wiseco big bore kit with 10.25:1 compression ratio, OR a lot of cylinder head work, including a gas flow, but not different cams or valves. The cost is slightly more for the head work. I know what my inclination is. What do you guys/girls think?
  24. Should be out on Sunday. Some good roads down my way?
