  1. Almost certainly won't come out with the oil, loads of webs and baffle plates in some sumps. I'd remove the sump plate itself, after buying a new gasket or at least some sealant. The missing parts should be in there somewhere.
  2. How much metal is sticking out of hole? You could Dremel a slot in it and undo it with a screwdriver?
  3. Bit far from you mate, but if you head this way you can stay at mine and me and a few mates will keep you entertained for a while.
  4. Should be a spring as well.
  5. What's the rest of the chain like.? Can you pull it off at the very back of the back sprocket. How far will it lift off the sprocket?
  6. Definitely DON'T use a torque wrench if you're using copperslip then.

For bad handling, also check steering head bearing play!

  9. One carb per valve will give slightly more power, theoretically.

You can wild camp as well in Norway mate. Don't bother with the turist boats , fantastic views from the ferries, cheaper and less packed. Narrow Fyjord was awesome. Trollstigen Pass and the Atlantic road are must dos.

Been there in the car towing the caravan. What a fabulous country and lovely people. Fookin expensive though.
  16. Had a fantastic weekend with Mandy and Bob. Horrible journey from Hastings to Godmanchester, but great to eat curry on Thursday evening. Went to NEC in Bob's car with Bob, Mandy, Rantmachine(Olly) and the lovely Crystal. A great day at NEC, followed by Fish n chips at Bobs. Saturday saw us at the Shuttleworth collection, followed by dinner at Bob and Mandy's local pub. Sunday was a lie in followed by a full English and then back to Northiam in only 2hrs 20mins. Sorted!!!
  17. Chroming costs are now astronomical and rechroming even more so. Consider powder coating or painting?
  18. You need to check the pedal pivot, it sometimes gets rusty on the inside and can seize up. If this doesn't work, remove the rear wheel, remove the brake hub and brake shoes. Filing the leading edges of the brake shoes sometimes does the trick. Also remove , clean and regrease the brake operating spindle where it goes into the hub.

    radiator leaking

    What Bob said
  23. Probably do Clacketts to Cobham again.
  24. I've had a lot of 1970s Jap bikes. Oldest one at the moment is a GSX1100ET. Done a lot of engine work on the 70s bikes as well.
  25. Having problems with this thing. It won't seal. It's clean and undamaged , but sometimes it seals with engine off and most times it doesn't. Already drained the tank into the sump due to a leaking float valve. Thinking of replacing with two manual valves, one for main, second for reserve. Any thoughts?
