  1. Sounds like the front sprocket could be "hooked" , so worn that it looks like a buzz saw blade. Replace both sprockets and chain. I recommend DID X ring Gold chain, renthal front and an aluminium rear. Think about a chain of sprocket sizes as well.
  2. Is 4 pm the earliest you can meet Phil? What time you leaving? I put in the other thread. Meet at petrol station at end of pembury bypass in kippings cross.

    Baffle

Get it fookin hot, then drop in cold water and slide hammer out. Or just soak in wd40 or plusgas.
  4. It,s near the radiator top bolt on the left hand side of the steering head. Good idea to add an extra earth direct from the battery to the reg/rec wiring socket. Saves on replacement reg/recs.
  5. And their eyes when you take yer helmet off !!!
  6. Reducing front sprocket teeth by one or two is the single most cost effective performance mod you can do to your bike. Downside is that it may increase wear on the chain and may cause chain to rub on the plastic/rubber guides at the front of the swingarm. Rear sprockets are considerably more expensive, a steel one could cause more chain wear and you may need a longer chain. My Fireblade has a one tooth smaller front Renthal sprocket and a two tooth bigger rear , duralumin sprocket, with the standard length DID X ring gold chain. Changing sprocket sizes can often affect your speedo reading , so check with a satnag.
  7. No you don't need a new chain, but the new sprocket may wear the old chain prematurely. Just enjoy the extra acceleration.
  8. Pm,d ya back Phil,
  9. Power and torque curves look very good, but A/F ratio curve is showing too rich above 5000 revs. That's main jets. Not sure why you need different on inners? Try smaller, say 95s all around. I don't have any that small I'm afraid. If you're happy with bike, leave it, but it has gone very thirsty. What jets were in before?
  10. I still think it's running a bit rich mate, as per the fuel consumption. Find out what jets are in it and I'll see if I have one or two sizes smaller?
  11. won't be home until 24th mate.
  12. Was great to see and ride with you again James. Crackin rideout with Spanky and a crackin Scottish breakfast at his place.
  13. No probs mate. I don't always rag my bikes. I'll pm my moby for a chat.
  14. I'm staying in Kilwinning ,near Irvine, until August 16th. Anybody fancy a rideout locally or into the southern highlands gimme a shout. Any good routes also welcome.
  15. I,ll be in Kilwinning for 3 weeks after tonight. Hope to visit some of those roads.
  16. Never needed to heat up a wheel to get bearings in or out. Usually freeze em to get em in, but only squeeze or tap on the outside race. Most bearings come out using a drift, if not use a 2 or 3 leg bearing puller or an internal , collet type puller. The latter are expensive. Replace bearings with new ones. Some, like swingarm needle rollers, have to be destroyed to get em out. Never been beaten yet!!!
  17. Try it on another good battery first. I have heard of faulty batteries reversing polarity. Don,t ask me how.
  18. I was out all day today. A few bikes in Rye, but packed on a sunny Sunday. Dunno about midweek or evenings.
  19. Never heard of a Wednesday meet in Rye.
  20. Just reread the posts, yours sounds like an oil cooled motor and mine is for the aircooled ones, ET to EFE. Can you measure spacing of headers and post pix? Mine is a 4 into 1.
  21. Message me your phone number and email address. I'm away until Friday. I need a good photo of your guard and where it fits on the bike. I usually fold a piece of 2mm stainless so that the top is a 25/30 mm wide strip, with a nice angular shape to the vertical section. Post pix and a drawing on this thread and I'll add my drawings?
  22. About 40quid mate, depending on design. Just send existing guard and a drawing of what you want.
  23. Make one or pay me to make one outta stainless?
  24. I have a nice set of stainless headers on my gsx1100et. Reverse cone mega welded on. If they fit a g you can have the lot for 250 I,ll be in Kilwinning, near Irvine from July 25th. Just bought a vhr system myself.
