  1. That link doesn't work for me. Do you have pix of thread. Can you measure diameter of bolt or thread? If it's M10, bit big for bobbins, it is normally a metric fine 1.25 pitch as used on Jap bikes. Most M10 threads are 1.5 pitch. I doubt it is M10 for bobbins though, usually M8 or M6.
  2. Choke may be stuck on . Check cable to choke or lever, then remove choke valve or mechanism from carb, clean it and carb a nd try again. Check colour of spark plug.
  3. Don,t charge a bikke battery at 4 amps, charge it at a lower current where possible. I use my intelligent Lidl charger.
  4. When rebuilding, smear red rubber grease on all seals. Much better than brake fluid.
  5. If you can find headers to fit without fouling engine and frame, I can re-engineer the collector and linkpipe.
  6. Sounds like external cover rattling to me. Just coz bolts are tight, doesn't mean they're gripping covers. Could also be another piece of metal resonating with the exhaust, so touch all covers in turn while blipping throttle. If not external, try pushing a dowel or brush steel with a pointed end down the centre of baffle , lean on it to see if it still rattles when you rev it. Either way it sounds like a warranty claim for a replacement silencer/system to me .

If you want to do a lot of jobs at once and you have all day, I don't mind driving up and doing em with you. At your cost of course!
  9. I've done Normandy and the Ardennes a few times. Gimme a shout if you want some info. I'm not far from the channel ports if you want to break your journey.
  10. You said "only needs to hold for a few minutes." FFS, only takes a second to fall over and cause months and pounds worth of damage.!!! Some bikes you can lift the back wheel by putting on side stand and jacking up so that rear wheel lifts off ground. Sometimes it works , but usually a bit too wobbly for my liking. Get a strong mate to help ya.
  11. If you do tie it to the roof, make sure that the tie points at both ends are as far apart as possible!
  12. Get yerself a paddock stand with rubber pads that fit under the swingarm, about 30 quid.
  13. Sometimes you can use two axle stands and a piece of wood under the swingarm. Clean chain with paraffin using a soft brush, use a chain cleaner on A towel to finish and then I use muc off ptfe dry lube.
  14. It's been a bad year chaps. I needed to unwind. It was all Gill's fault.
