  1. I buy cheap tools from Aldi or Lidl, never had a problem with em. Those tools don't look like the sort you would need. I carry.; Set of combination spanners, some double ended ring spanners, set of Allen keys or just 6, 5 and 4 mm. Philips and straight edge screwdrivers, small mole grips, tie wraps, sticky tape, a few M8 and M6 Allen bolts, nut and washers, plug spanner, C spanner for rear suspension.
  2. AFAM are good sprockets, but they should have sent you one that will fit to your bike. They haven't , so talk to them ???
  3. Talk to the supplier and get em to send the correct front sprocket?
  4. The Nexxus systems are probably as restrictive and quiet as the standard system , so they probably don't need rejetting. Normally if it is louder, it is less restrictive and may produce more power if rejetted. If it is a chromed mild steel system, the collector 2 into 1 system WILL eventually rot out and crack.
  5. Main Dealers will just rip you off! Price up with them, try eBay and C&S specialists like B&C Express or Supersprox. If you can't fit em, have a ride down to my place and I'll do it for you.
  6. Clean all the rust off the exhaust cover and paint with high temperature paint, silver on the inside. or send it to me and I'll make you a very similar one out of stainless steel. Not as shiny as chrome , but it will last forever? If you are gonna leave your bike neglected for a while, either keep it in the dry and warm or coat all exposed chrome and mild steel with grease, vaseline or chain lube. DON'T PUT ANY NEAR THE BRAKES!!! If you don't and you leave it outside it will disSolve!!!
  7. Yes Matty. Dead easy and cheap to go 1 down on the front first, 2 down can cause chain wear and chain guide wear problems. +1 on the back is a waste of time, so +2 or +3 on the back is ok and shouldn't need a longer chain on most bikes, especially with -1 on the front. I reccomend Renthal front and hard anodised Renthal rear. Though Talon and Supersprox Stealth look great!
  8. Yep, -1 front, +2 rear is a good combo, puts yer speedo out a bit, but the accel is fantastic. If you can't do it yerself, have a ride down to my place at the end of August and I'll do it for ya?
  9. You said "I have about 10 -15mm of play in the clutch leaver as per the manual" . Is this at the end of the lever? Clearance should be 3mm where the lever pivots away from the perch, near the end of the cable outer sheath.
  10. You would be best to search for a chain and sprocket kit for your exact model and year of bike, eBay probably cheapest. Go for a good make, DID, EK, AFAM. Don't buy the cheapest Chinese crap, made from butter. See if they offer smaller front or bigger rear sprockets if you want better acceleration, only reduce by one tooth on the front, but I doubt this would reduce your engine temperature?
  11. We are only just back from USA on Saturday mate , so maybe a bit jetlagged on Sat/Sunday. May be available for a local rideout on Monday though?
  12. Remove the pads and feel the braking surface for any hard highspots. If there are any , rub a fine file across them and rub it all around the edges. Pump all pistons out by about 5 to 10mm. Clean pistons with a small amount of WD40, rub it in and polish pistons up to a bright shine. Push pistons back in by hand. Check anti chatter/squeal shims are in place and apply a small amount of copper grease to either side. Clean pads with brake cleaner and refit. Try again!
  13. No you didn't make it clear . To quote you "I was thinking perhaps the coil was failing under load, but was told that coil 1 sparks 1 and 3, and 2 does 2 and 4." "Coil 1 controls 1 and 3, 2 does 2 and 4 so coils are ok" Don't tell me to chill oot when I am trying to help you! A thankyou would suffice ! I now give up. Sort yer own engine out and good luck.
  14. Are you gonna try the correct plug caps on the correct plugs or shall I just ignore this thread? Ffs.
  15. 1243 is normal firing order, Connect HT leads correctly and try it, if still no good, swap LT wires from one coil to the other.
  16. Does it say 1&3, 2&4 in the manual? Never heard of that set up before.?
  17. Get some WD40 in the ignition and starter button and stop swoitch. Exercise it and try it again. If still no good, could be solenoid or even starter motor?
  18. Battery may be knackered. Give it a boost charge or a long trickle charge with a bike charger and see if it is OK next time you try it. Voltage should be 12.5 to 13.5 volts.
  19. Two C spanners are ideal. There is a castellated adjuster nut and sometimes a locknut. Very often, just an adjuster nut , then top yoke and then top yoke domed nut.
  20. Coils should do 1&4 and 2&3 mate. Check plug caps on correct plugs. Numbered from lefthand side as you sit on the bike. If you can touch the pipe, it ain't firing, so check sparks and fuel on plugs. Try running it until hot and then whip plugs out, Should be wet if no spark.
  21. Yes mate, the solenoid is energised by the battery and allows a lot of current to flow along the thick wires from the battery to the starter motor. Try your new battery in place and it should be good, as long as your carb/injector isn't gummed up with old fuel???
  22. Lift the front of bike off the ground, hold the very bottom of both fork legs and try to pull and push them forwards and backwards. If you feel any movement or clicking, tighten the headstock nut a little and try again.
  23. I moved my pegs forward and down mate. No reason you can't move yours back. Can you post pix of each side ?
  24. Nice one Cat Personally, I would like to stay in Derbyshire. It is a beautiful county, with some lovely roads. Perhaps if we could all help find the perfect venue with a phone call or eMail, we could have a shortlist of possibilities for those that live in the area and the mods to decide on??? Just a thought
  25. Has the baffle disappeared? Is there anything in the silencer??? A piccy would help?
