  1. That would be great. If no one else is going to camp on the Thursday, I'll be in touch.
  2. It looks fabulous, now how much was a rear tyre again?
  3. The Gate is a few minutes short of 6 hours for me. Since it was 7 hours due to roadworks etc to this years rally, I can cope with 6. I would come down on the Thursday.
  4. Put on Datatag or a tracker and have the bike display something to show that is installed. For some thieves, a tracked or security marked bike is not worth the hassle, so they will move on to another without.
  5. If you don't lean going round corners, that must mean the earth is flat.
  6. But you know from the karaoke that incompetence is not a hindrance.
  7. Found my old bike photos online, looks great
  8. I had a Black Widow Exhaust killed to my Kawasaki KLE500 when the old original exhaust rusted away. I chose it because my local dealer was happy to fit it, as they had never had any problems with them (they would not fit some other brands due to fitting issues) and it was relatively cheap at £325 for the whole system (plus add something for fitting) https://www.blackwidowexhausts.co.uk/kawasaki-kle-500-kle500-exhaust-system-with-300mm-round-stainless-steel-silencer-17089-p.asp Even though this was supposed to be a road legal, quieter one, it was like riding around on WWI machine gun with the bikes parallel twin making a marvellous noise. I noticed at this years TMBF rally there were a couple of others who had opted for Black Widow exhaust and like me they were very happy with them. They are a British company and have a huge selection for all sorts of bikes; https://www.blackwidowexhausts.co.uk/
  9. The top heavy Versys 1000GT I find is easy to handle going slowly. I can pretty much balance stationary, which is kind of wrong because it should be hard. Maybe the very wide handle bars help.
  10. On the way to the rally;
  11. A plastic mug is better than a metal one, which is pretty much guaranteed to burn your lip.
  12. Think Lomo for pannier bags and a dry bag for the pillion. https://www.lomo.co.uk/acatalog/waterproof-motorcycle-soft-panniers-set.html#SID=83 https://www.lomo.co.uk/acatalog/motorbike-drybag.html#SID=83
  13. A tip for packing tents is to find a dry bag that is a bit bigger than the tents bag. That makes packing easier and way less of an issue if you need to pack it wet. It also means you could have space to add poles for a porch, spare pegs or a tarp in the same bag. I then bungee that onto the pillion seat.
  14. I think we should take some of what did work well for next year. I think we should make sure there is a fire like the one Gin brought and we make a point of gathering around it on the Friday night. We should encourage people to bring as many camp chairs as possible. We should encourage people to bring a few more tarps in case it rains, so there are still places to sit and keep dry. For those who cannot bring/have not got fancy dress, we combine previous years face painting with this years bibs.
  15. OK, so there was a general agreement that was not the best rally, shall we say! The venue overall was too small. The broken light in the male showers made showering fun. The room for the karaoke was not ready and not ideal. The staff were friendly but disorganised. The weather was terrible. The ride out was on roads that were covered in crap and at times dangerous. The nice beer (Lad) ran out. BUT - I had lots of laughs, so did the rest of us. That first night when ALL of us were gathered round the campfire and it was still dry, was fantastic. The food in the hotel was superb and there was another really nice beer which did not run out (Glow). The fancy dresses were great and the idea to bring spare basic ones (the plastic bib things) for those without, was really good. Bridgnorth was lovely. The shower light was fixed. We cannot help with the rain and at least the number of rooms meant some could switch from leaking tents to sleeping on spare beds. So, I still a great time and the 12 hours I spent on the motorway getting there and back was worth it.
  16. No it was beefy what won the local beauty contest. The prize for the night, a weird crush from the only gay in the village!
  17. One tip from the rally, by the sleeping bag with the lowest temperature rating. Even if you plan to camp in the summer, a sleeping bag that is for minus temperatures is essential. A clear summers night looks nice for star gazing, but gets very cold.
  18. Home, tent drying, showered. No where near as hard going as the ride down. Slow in the road works, but didn't even have to filter. Thanks to all
  19. The ride out ones, showing bikers failing at wheelies, just piss me off. I do not watch gratuitous ones, or ones where a mother has posted her child's accident as a warning to others. i dealt with plenty of fatal RTAs in my old job.
  20. This - https://www.fc-moto.de/epages/fcm.sf/?ObjectPath=/Shops/10207048/Products/Revit-Cooling-Vest-Insert-Challenger/SubProducts/Revit-Cooling-Vest-Insert-Challenger-0003&Currency=GBP&Locale=en_GB&iccm=SOL_GB&utm_source=billiger&utm_medium=productlistings&utm_campaign=Solute_UK There are various products which are saturated with water and help to cool the rider. Even a damp towel round the neck.
  21. From various tests involving sanders, some jeans are better than some leather trousers and vice versa. You pay for what you get.
  22. Some are more instructional than others. The Youtuber RNckyMouse films lots of bikes and he slows down accidents he sees, which gives a better idea what went wrong.
  23. I think it is just going to pot luck, the weather predictions are changing constantly.
  24. It has changed again to dry all day. Dry Sunday as well, which is good for packing up tents.
  25. Left handed only, right thumb knackered. Well, the nail is split in two and seeping....
