    Touring tips

My abroad tour was to Ireland. You need to carry your insurance document with you. Nobody bothers with GB stickers. Most border crossings are not marked in any way, you just realise you have gone from north to south or vice versa because the road signs change. Any speed camera detection or position indicators are illegal. Watch out that the speed limit also changes from mph to kph. That is it really.
  2. My Givi V35 survived sliding along a road for about 20 feet with minor scratches. I have a black rubberised plastic car bumper strip on it for extra protection now.
  3. There are more pubs than that! Orkney has one pub and Skye has none! My arse!
  4. For what it is worth, RIPSA 2000 (the Scottish version) in my experienced was well run, authorised only when necessary and wholly directed at criminal activity where those involved were know criminals, or surveillance was set up to catch a criminal preying on a vulnerable person.
  5. I think the modern message has to be comfy in your own skin. Stereotypes are being eroded, cross over and merging of sexuality, style, job types etc mean we do not have the be comfy in your own gender and role boxes any more.
  6. An Inspector came round today and took a statement off me. At the end he read out how the complaints against the two civilian turnkeys are to be worded. Both started out with the word "alleged". After I pointed out that one incident is on CCTV and the other was recorded as the person was giving evidence in court and it is also in his statement, so the word "alleged" has been removed My complaint about how the Crown Office investigated the criminal allegation against me has been returned by the Crown Office investigation team, whereby they have found themselves not guilty. I have pointed out, again, that they have not actually investigated what I have complained about, asserting what they did was fine is a logical fallacy and I can prove they did not investigate as per their own code of practice. I have also reported the Crown Office to the SPSO. My complaint about the police investigated the criminal allegation against me is still waiting to be allocated to someone. For a reason I cannot fathom, NOT!, no one wants to take me on. They will have to at some point and that person will be my new favourite chew toy My complaint about Police Scotland HR for tampering with my personnel file is still with the ICO. I just want them to know that they picked on the wrong person.
  7. Scotland is one huge free campsite with a few pay for ones with facilities thrown in. https://www.visitscotland.com/accommodation/caravan-camping/wild-camping/ Just don't camp in someone's garden (without permission), a public park, agricultural land or military base and obey the countryside code and you are good to go.
  8. Punish observers as in witnesses, no. I can well understand why people will see crimes and walk away and not want to give evidence. I would punish enablers, as in those who repeatedly witness the same crime or a serious crime and do nothing about it. That already happens with certain terrorist legislation. If you know someone is engaging in criminal acts and you do nothing about it, then you are an enabler. Many people were enablers when it came to the Jimmy Saville abuse case. There are BBC and other executives who should be facing charges. However, there are instances when people would love to report criminal activity but fear for their jobs or even lives. So at the same time I would enhance so called "whistleblower" and witness protection.
  9. The yoof of today owe us nothin. We have left them will massive bills, over priced houses, obesity, the fiction of improved chances with a university degree, an increasing wealth gap and overheating earth. So if a guy wants to get it wrong in a gym, at least he is doing something about the obesity crisis.
  10. They are now claiming they cannot get the CCTV evidence to play.
  11. They get a chance to investigate themselves and if I am not happy with the result I can refer them to the Police Independent Review Commission. The sheriff said in his verdict that of course I had to act as the consequences of not acting would be far worse.
  12. The first two of those I am complaining about have now been officially informed of my complaint and will be served disciplinary notices for bring the job into disrepute. They have been caught on CCTV and making claims in open court, so neither can deny they did what they did. I was somewhat taken a back (a polite way of saying I was shouting and swearing down the phone, yes really) when I was informed that my complaint about the way the allegation of assault was investigated had been allocated to one of the people I was complaining about. They got my point that was wholly f**king inappropriate and unprofessional. The last update was they have not yet found anyone prepared to take on the complaint http://www.thequotepedia.com/images/56/revenge-is-a-dish-that-tastes-best-when-served-cold.jpg
  13. I did not feel safe or in control when I rode my YBR125 home after passing my CBT. Another biker even stopped and asked me if I was OK!
  14. England beating Scotland 3-0 is the country in 12th place on the rankings beating the team in 57th place. Considering the money in the sport in this country that is shockingly bad. The wages of the Man Utd team is as much as the rest of UK sport gets to fund its activities. I would like footballers to be made very aware of that and how little in return they provide in terms of international awards. Back in the late 1970s early 1980s were getting an excellent return from the clubs, even if internationally we did little.
  15. All that money and one world cup. No Euro championship cup.
  16. I am sure Wiggins and Redgrave have done more than the equivalent in terms of generating interest, funding and accessibility for rowing and cycling than Rooney has done for football. I would like to see darts and snooker as olympic sports.
  17. I like the idea of a pub that is unique to a certain region, so one in Scotland, one in Wales and spilt England into two or three. It need not be odd names, it could just be the Oban Inn and other village pubs. I also think that priest should get a special tag for him to do, in Siberia.
  18. Exactly. Scotland will never qualify for anything and England should get there, but humiliation awaits. Rooney has been to three world cups and scored one goal. He gets £15.6 million a year. That is way more than most sports get as annual funding in the UK; https://www.uksport.gov.uk/our-work/investing-in-sport/current-funding-figures For the money he is on he should be like Bradley Wiggins or Steve Redgrave and scoring at least one goal per world cup finals. I say cut his funding and give it to someone with the real desire and balls to succeed.
  19. Bump for the scores as we come to an end of this years challenge.
  20. If there are pubs, how about a few unique ones about the different regions, just to balance up not being able to do all of them for some as it is too far.
  21. I have given up watching football. They are all over paid underachievers. The poppy is ironic because it is commemorating the death of any chance of winning anything ever again. Instead it is one humiliating defeat after another.
  22. Yes x2.
  23. I am not surprised. People are saying "no" to politicians. In the USA the "no" was so big that they went for a businessman with no political experience. Americans are more mistrustful of their politicians than we are in the UK. Corruption in places such as Chicago is endemic. Lobbying means money talks, hence the rule of the NRA over gun control and the huge Jewish lobby meaning support for Israel and interference in the Arab states no matter what the public think. They had had a father then his son and now faced with a husband then his wife. The elite is tiny and people want to say no to them. The UK has been doing the same and saying "no" to politicians. The Lib Dems got into power, dropped a key promise and then had a huge no vote at the next election that has pretty much wiped them out. The SNP got into power, asked for independence and were told no by the electorate. The Labour politicians did not want Corbyn as their leader and the party members said no to them, he is your leader. The majority of MPs wanted to remain in the EU, the people said no to them.
  24. I did the by a TBR125 and pottered about doing a lesson every couple of weeks. By the time I passed by test after 7 months I was ready to some higher speeds. My highest ever speed on a motorbike was an indicated 91mph. I am not really into speed and my ride outs are at the comfy touring speed of around 50mph.
