  1. I thought I had been to the back of beyond, then I went to Castle Tioran. Inverlochy Castle
  2. Happy to do the ones for next year! I'm still working on the reprint for this year, just work is stressing me to the eyeballs at the moment! I would be happy to reduce the stress and say don't worry about a reprint and I will be happy with a xxl for next year.
  3. I completed the survey. It was easy, I just picked one of my accidents......
  4. Yes, certain breeds and the owner has to be licensed.
  5. Most top boxes would need to broken to get them open, so I have always left mine on overnight, under a cover, no issues.
  6. Hailes Castle Smailholm Tower Hermitage Castle South of Scotland completed
  7. TC, I will be seeking compensation.
  8. That's what is frightening. I would always go straight into a cell and act and I am now out of the job. The two custody officers who decided what I did was wrong are still there.
  9. I was so glad that I was left on the pension scheme I joined with and could bail out when I turned 50. I crept back into work one evening when no one else was about, filled out the required form and left it with a sick line, my keys, uniform and warrant card on a desk. When I told a GP what had happened he kindly wrote me out a sick line to cover the 28 days notice I was required to give. There are good cops out there, there are about half a dozen I will keep in touch with. But there are many more awful ones who are lazy and either cannot or will not follow correct procedure. I used to be considered a stickler for procedure, but I never did a half arsed enquiry that ruined an obviously innocent person. My family were very pro-police, not any more.
  10. I was transfered to a non public facing role because I was told I was considered to be a risk to the public Hope yours worked out fine.
  11. We should do Raiders Road before it closes for the winter; http://scotland.forestry.gov.uk/forest-parks/galloway-forest-park/raiders-road-forest-drive" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
  12. I have tried both the finger wiper and the Nickwax and settled with the Nickwax. There are times you just do not want to let go and wipe off the rain and the muck just smears.
  13. Never in the history of ever has this been said about me. I've getting this made into a mug, a wedding present for the wife and a back tattoo. I would like a "never in the history of....." mug. It could be the new "keep clam and...."
  14. Or get a waterproof overjacket for the really wet or cold days and treat it as another layer to your existing jacket and its liner. The Spada 912 is totally waterproof (boy have I tested it to the limits), wind proof so helping to keep you warm and it is £25 on ebay.
  15. Thanks to all, letting me unburden myself and the support is much appreciated
  16. He is the subject of one of my complaints. I cannot decide if I should go for neglect of duty which is in the police regulations, or cowardice, which is not, but it is what he is.
  17. A motorbike throttle is not the same as trying to throttle.... oh!
  18. I suspect targets were being met, justice be damned!
  19. According to one of the main witnesses, a member of custody staff, yes I should have stood and watched him and do nothing until more assistance arrived. He works part time and had less than a years service at that time. I had 25 years service, often working on my own in rural offices where you not only looked after prisoners but you also answered the phone and dealt with any callers at the office. He criticised me in court, saying that I had ignored him and gone it on the cell on my own against his advice.
  20. She's a cracker and the bloke scrubs up well!
  21. I now have four complaints about Police Scotland and one about the Crown Office Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) submitted, all relating to this case. I would like compensation, but I would really like the police to start to train all officers and custody staff on what to do when they find someone trying to self harm or kill them self and for Police Scotland and COPFS to follow their own procedures when investigating allegations.
  22. Today I was found not guilty of assault at Paisley Sheriff Court. The sheriff decided that going into a cell and stopping a prisoner from killing himself by pushing him off balance so that he let go of the ligature around his neck, resulting in no injury (apart from the self inflicted one) is not assault. Some of my former police colleagues had decided, for reasons that I want explained, that it is was an assault. There is no training provided by the police as what to do in such circumstances, you just have to do your best and what you think is right. A number of you know about this case, that has been hanging over me since April 2014. So I thought I would pass on the good news. More details in my blog
  23. Your years on this post are 2011, 2016 and 2017. http://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=61627 Does that mean we all have to go retro and the theme is years gone by?
  24. I agree some CE armour seems pretty flimsy. I do tend to upgrade and use known makes such as Forcefield.
  25. How do you manage with a just a stock seat and no pad. Seriously, hats off to you and doing the two rides I want to do, but have chickened out of because of the sheer distances.
