  1. That part of the Highway Code is not law, it is advice, the exception being about the hard shoulder, and even then, that is now wrong to a degree as some Motorways now use the shoulder as a live lane Yes, Sec 38(7) of the RTA 1988 states "A failure on the part of a person to observe a provision of the Highway Code shall not of itself render that person liable to criminal proceedings of any kind but any such failure may in any proceedings (whether civil or criminal, and including proceedings for an offence under the Traffic Acts, the M1Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981 or sections 18 to 23 of the M2Transport Act 1985) be relied upon by any party to the proceedings as tending to establish or negative any liability which is in question in those proceedings." The Highway Code is a way to establish fault. So overtake on the left and if there is an accident you are more likely to held liable.
  2. The Highway Code Rule 267 states only overtake on the right. Rule 268 states do not overtake on the left unless it is congested and that lane moves faster than lanes to the right. Rule 269 you MUST NOT use the hard shoulder for overtaking.
  3. No to arming all, yes to arming more. Only the Met would stand a chance with a Paris type multiple locus attack. Police Scotland could not cope.
  4. He was OK about it, I am paying the excess which thankfully is only £150. I have spoken to neighbours and they are as non plussed as me. There are no parking issues and no history of damage to cars.
  5. I like beer and the woman I married, so I'm ok thanks
  6. The nob of the day, well more last night is the person who poured paint stripper on the side of a relatives car which I had borrowed and was parked over night outside the house. I would have preferred it if our car had been done instead. No one else had their car touched, so why me!!!!!!!
  7. This will be the first year I have not provided suggestions for the Scotland nor indeed any other tags.
  8. If you are having real issues with eye strain you can get glasses and even visors with a yellow tint. They make all lights look like yellow street lights and do not dazzle. I don't ride so much in the dark as I used to, but when I did I would wear them.
  9. therein lies the possible answer to this problem, I have just read that the wheels on the YBR were changed.. from 'tubed' to tubeless. the changeover happened (apparently) in 2007. is it possible that the bike has the wrong tyres fitted? or is lacking tubes.. when these 'should' be fitted? Maybe. I associate tubed tyres with spoked wheels due to the difficulty getting an airtight seal.
  10. The sealant stuff is fine when your tyre has an inner tube.
  11. News report here, including an appeal for witnesses http://www.examiner.co.uk/news/west-yor ... e-10484863
  12. My experience is that it is the best and longest lasting visor treatment.
  13. That is also my memory, time of meeting and experience. I will never forget seeing him dressed in his day glow dragon outfit, with a huge Bassett hound dragging him backwards by the tail.
  14. Turn it one way and you will hear the revs at idle rise, turn it the other and the revs should fall. You want about 1500 at tick over.
  15. Some STP winter fuel treatment will help to clean it up inside and get rid of any water. My KLE500 (same engine) was running rough after a summer of not doing much. A small splash of the fuel treatment (a bottle does 60l) and it has been fine since.
  16. The Ghostbikes Motorcycle cover comes in four sizes and ranges (at the moment) from £16 to £22 plus delivery. It is also sold as Blacks Motorcycle cover on ebay. http://www.ghostbikes.com/12282-ghostbi ... large.html http://images.esellerpro.com/2189/I/107/657/5132-5135-Black-Sonar-Motorcycle-Rain-Cover-1600-0.JPG It is the best fitting, easiest to get on and off bike cover I have found. It has vents, holes for the chain, a built in strap for underneath the bike and a heat proof section at the back. It is also totally waterproof. It may not last as long as more expensive ones (that I have not tested) but that is because it is so cheap. The fabric feels as thick as the other Oxford and R&G I have used, so it may well last as long as they did.
  17. That terminology sounds like what the police use, the media get much of their info from police press releases and they have lapsed into the police speak.
  18. That one gets my vote.
  19. I camped at the Dolau Inn, Mochdre, basic but very cheap (£5 a night off season and since I ate in the pub) and centrally located near Newtown. Generally the roads are great, the A5 through Snowdonia was a great ride, as was up Hellfire Pass (Bwlch y Groes).
  20. The Lower Load is too far south for me. I went two years ago because I was already in the area on holiday. I did not go to the last one because of the distance to do in a weekend. Further north please
  21. I found him to be terrible as he was slow, forgot what work I had asked him to do and he got a part powder coated the wrong colour. I have had no issues with AMR (the MCS mechanics) at Renfrew.
  22. Some pictures of the frame being painted black and the state of the exhaust and the finished job with a new exhaust There are a few bits waiting to go back on and then winter here we come.
  23. I have a neighbour who was already parking his bike outside his house, which meant riding a long a pavement to get to it. He would also work on his bike outside. So when I started to do the same thing there was no issue. All the neighbours know our bikes mean two more car parking spaces in the communal car park. In the morning coast down the pavement and start the bike as I am leaving the car park.
  24. The cable end would not fit through into the water proof case so as to be able to charge the phone.
  25. Tried that but I could hardly see the screen.
