  3. The porblem was the chock had not been reconnected properly after the new hamdlebars were put on after i had the accident. So I was trying to start it with no choke. The repair took seconds, the garage was very apologetic and I was not charged.
  4. I know it is not a scooter as such, but the DN-01 I saw is a magnificent beast. Is that what is on your avatar?
  5. I bloody well hope not Thanks for the suggestions. I can try no choke and full throttle and bump starting in a higher gear, but spark plug out is going to be difficult as I do not have the tools.
  6. My bike will not start. I have not used it much since I had my crash which involved getting new handlebars. I had problems getting it going a few days ago. The starter motor works fine, but the engine will not catch. When it did start it blew out blue smoke. This time it will go at all. I have even tried to bump start it and nothing, the engine refuses to turn over and it just jerks me to a halt. Sometimes the engine will turn over on the starter, but choke in or out, using the throttle or not, it just will not start. The garage will come and get for £35, but not till Tuesday. Any suggestions as to what to do? Thanks
  7. I tried one out today, A Suzuki Bergman 125 and very nice it was too.
  8. 1 - parked up and getting off the bike after a 200 mile trip, knackered, wet and the bike was fully laden and it fell over as I just plain forgot to put the stand down 2 - parked up on a steep slope, the bike was full laden, it was towards the end of a long day having done about 200 miles and as I got on it toppled over. 3 - trying to bump up over a steep kerb, I used too much throttle and it went from underneath me.
  9. My dream garage would have a scooter in it and I would use it for popping down the shops, into town and commuting.
  10. It looks OK to me... http://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/219906/images/BMW%20SCT%20800%20Scooter.jpg
  11. 800cc, 75hp, I could get one of these http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/Gallery%20B/gilera%20gp800%20%202.jpg
  12. I am a scooter rider in attitude, but prefer the size of a bike.
  13. Mine have the above, plus a cold weather lining and padding on the hips. Basically if there is an additional form of protection or padding, I want it (but I do keep falling off!)
  14. I would like to change the silver parts on my bike to matt black, so the bash plate, pillion peg support, exhaust shield, back brake pedal on this side and the gear on the other and just out of view on the other side, the side stand. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3048/5739991475_020e176529_b.jpg Using a magnet I know the bash plate, side stand and pillion peg support are aluminium and the other parts steel. Please recommend some paints to do the various jobs. I think the exhaust shield would need something different from the bash plate.
  15. Any photos, now you know what to do! How reliable has it been?

  18. Well my stylish Italian jacket and trousers has survived two tumbles totally unscathed, it keeps me cool in summer, warm in winter has lots of pockets but it not fully waterproof. It was £114. Because of that I could never justify buying one the suits reviewed in the magazine. I think next month they are doing cheaper stuff.
  19. I posted this yestereday elsewhere, but it is more appropriate here. How to 'winterise your bike' http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 77BXjI5mcc I am sure you have covered it all Alex.
  20. The DVLA returns cheque to motorist Spend it on some chrome
  21. so important to keep the wind off you. a waterproof over jacket works really well!
  22. Ride magazine was it? I saw it too and was taken a back by the prices. I can't see the extra value in them.
  23. What is the difference between roast beef and pea soup? Anyone can roast beef, no one can pea soup.
  24. Thats what I thought and I was on a time scale as I need the bike for work and it the handlebars are beyond me at the moment.
  25. No, it is not worth claiming off insurance.
