  1. Sounds reasonable to me. Garmin ones are still around 450ish as advertised in MCN, however if you want one for a car you can pick them up for £99 in a local shop near me. Why so much extra for a bike baffles the crap out of me. ???????
  2. I like the CBR 125R the best. Very sporty looking. Have you had a look at the Aprilia.
  3. Yep, they are still OK and have a 2 year parts garantee and 5 year waranty for not letting in water
  4. Opted for the Bandit cus it was my first bike and it was good value for the amount of bike you get. Not having ridden anything else I cannot compare the bikes you`ve chosen, but I find the bandit (faired version) very easy to ride and forgiving for a beginner. I now how the 1250 SA version and the more power is fantastic. See if you can arrange some test rides, preferably when the roads are dryer and have noc ice. My old baby at 2 hours old
  5. VFR, I was going to get these myselfe as, like you, I read the review in Ride. My local supplier had a job getting them and I needed them for the pudsey run so I went along to Hein Gericke and got their gortex ones. Look very similar and at £127, a lot cheaper. I`ve found them so far to be very good for warmth, waterproof and comfort and they are easy to put on and take off.
  6. I brought my winter gloves slightly bigger than needed, a) to enable me to get liners in them (if needed) and b) if your finger tips are squashed into the ends of the fingers they tend to get cold quicker. This does make it a little more difficult with the controls but I find it helps me. I have "Buffalo Thermomix" and they are also pretty good.
  7. I think the monster came better off in Rid emagazines recent test on locks. Not sure about the other one. I think a monster also knocks a bit off your insurance as it is Thatcham approved.
  8. Good luck with organising the meet slug. When you want to do one down to the Ace, let me know and I`ll organise meeting up with a few of us on the way down. Think I`ll skip the Matlock one though, I`d need to nock a naught of my engine size to be on an equal par
  9. I`m normally out on the bike on sundays but like Roy says think cr*p weather is on its way. Keep looking though, may still go out.
  10. I`m thinking of getting the same one but with white bits where the other has yellow bits. No idea where to get them from in your area though. Sorry
  11. No probs mate, hope your feeling better today.
  12. What you been up to then Sam ??????
  13. Happy burpday roy for Saturday. OK jive, I`ll watch thethread for a reply. Yes Dave, Sat looking better but I`m on rescue duty at Rutland Water all day. Nice ride up to and back and some floaty bits in between.
  14. Huntingdonshire as a county was absorbed into cambridgeshire in 1974. "Huntingdonshire was a political unit and a social institution for some eleven hundred years until in 1974 it was absorbed into Cambridgeshire. Though always small and rural, Huntingdonshire had its moments of glory and produced far more than its share of historical characters. “
  15. Anyone up for a ride out in the morning. ?????
  16. Once again Dan, wise words from one so young. Proper little sage.
  17. not surprised. I`m getting one of these jackets for winter so it`s a choice of hi-viz or black with white flashings.
  18. Hey slug, I`m glad I`m not following you on small rides.
  19. Agree with you there Matt, Still got to ride home in it tonight, but luckily only 7 miles. Not over bothered though, I`ve got good waterproofs, and now my boots are too.
  20. Glad to see you are not put off. The benifits in grin factor when you`ve poassed your test will be well worth it. Keep going pal.
  21. Managed to get out most of yesterday morning. Not too bad at all. Got fully layered up and was warm as toast. Deffo getting me a textile jacket though for this winter.
  22. I do agree, heres Marks, just to prove how effective they are. This is just with a camera flash, think how bright car headlights would make them glow.
