  1. must ask my mate for the vid of me he felt compelled to take after he stopped laughing the first time he saw me on the R6 with one foot swinging 5 inches above the floor... the effort it took to upright it was almost superhuman... but you'd never have noticed once I was moving , lol
  2. the same leg length as me , a standard er6 will have her feet swinging off the floor...
  3. cant be arsed lol...busy watching BGT
  4. are we on the list ??
  5. its an early R6.. theres no room for the chain tool... we eventually got a metal band tool around it, and used in conjunction with the screwdriver which we'd already hammered through, eventually got it moving
  6. Daytona ladystar... very good built in platform... cost around £250-300 quid... about the same as a customlowering service....or you could just break all your nails and lower your own for a fraction of that. theres also the option of stretching the touchdown and learning to slide your arse off to land one foot.... I wouldn't recommend that for a learner though, but then again, ive managed a modest 13000 miles on the R6 with the tip of one toe touching the floor..... sometimes its more about mental attitude
  7. easiest test is for continuity across all the connectors first... theyre prone to going tits up in my experience. if all the connectors test ok, then you are looking for a possible short... that's where it starts to get complicated
  8. lady in red...chris de burgh
  9. just to add...if you're hoping to find a bike that will fit you as standard that's suitable for the test, you may as well search for sparkly purple unicorns.....not happening
  10. exactly the same size as me then .... I did my DAS on a fully lowered er5 , under the old rules . firstly, shop around for schools in your area who a. understand just how tiny you really are, and the issues that come with that, and b. have a properly lowered ( not just a bit of foam off the seat ) bike . not sure what most schools are using for the A test now, but I would imagine a properly lowered er6 ( or a fazer etc )would do the job . you will find you are always going to have a very limited choice of bikes that work , and even less choice when it comes to schools that understand and will accommodate you.
  11. I second the vote for further training... did bikesafe and performance plus ( good fun as well as a valuable experience, reinforced a lot of the stuff id forgotten I already knew) , and currently doing IAM as you say, passing the test only teaches you to pass the test.... then the learning begins
  12. I managed a steady 70mph on a 20 year old SR125 when fetching it home for my daughter( lots of giggles)...but I agree with whats been said, unless you need to use motorways, or carry a pillion... then the A1 is pretty useless, and you may as well ride on a cbt till 19. as for derestricting when you're not supposed to... wouldn't go there for many reasons
  13. RIP, ride free Simon...sad but a daily risk when they love the sport....have many friends who risk this every time they enter a race.....thoughts are with his family and friends
  14. I just love that you spelt faff with a silent p ....class
  15. wooohooo, all done....girl power rocks
  16. im about to try to single handedly replace the downpipes on the cbr...... anything I need to know ? lol I may be gone awhile
  17. biggest tip..... stay away from you tube vids apart from that, buy and read roadcraft book yourself bikesafe....performance plus...etc etc , even sign up for iams or rospa. ride in experienced groups....get out on your own on familiar roads.... more than anything ...remember ...eyes up....look ahead as far as you can. it will all come with time, and with miles ridden
  18. I don't expect it to last very long, but its just been done and the mot is this Saturday. couldn't do any kind of wrapped repair as its right at the end
  19. that might work neil, and tbh I don't even need the magnets if its one you can remove them from, as I have my old one with a busted zip, which I could use the magnets from problem is it needs to be a small one....my original one is , I think , the oxford lifetime x4? , and the one im using now , borrowed from chira is an x2 I think. any bigger and I cant reach the handlebars lol
  20. would love to go, and could really do with a new tank bag... but with day tickets at damn near £40 for the 2 of us, I'd have to be saving more than £40 off the retail price to make it even worth thinking about ( and that's assuming I don't count the cost of fuel ) . with the budget the way it is ( ie. non existent ) I doubt we will end up going
  21. k, so last years MOT on my newly acquired cbr had an advisory for a 'slight blow' on the exhaust ( bloody understatement of the year , lol ) . the downpipes are mainly rust , held together with more rust, and recently developed a good size hole right where they meet the engine, on 2 of the pipes. the long term plan is a full set of stainless, but for now I have repaired them , am just wondering if that'll suffice for the mot, there is more gum than metal...but its not currently blowing.
  22. oh yeay , forgot about the connector block, lol, I also removed that and replaced with push fit connectors...but what I said about the rad and cap still also applies. undo the connector from the front of the fan switch, extend it with some wire if necessary and touch it to the black on the battery, if it kicks in , then at least you know the fan itself is ok, and it may be the switch.... if that doesn't work , then undo all the connectors , and direct wire the lot, this eliminates the connectors, which may indeed be the problem
  23. thundersprint weekend at Darley Moor....looks like we're gonna get wet
  24. I have no problem with that ... im guessing you havnt found the one in helmet and hotpants then :P don't panic, I had a bra and bike jacket on too .... ooh and really cool boots
  25. Can I use the one of you laying over a sopping bike in very short denim shorts? Haha I have no problem with that ... im guessing you havnt found the one in helmet and hotpants then :P
