Haynes manual, lots of knowledgeable friends on the other end of the phone...also a spare bike to get things wrong first time on helps.....but to be honest, if its your only bike and it breaks when you don't have the funds for a mechanic, its amazing how fast you learn this shit. oh , and top tip...don't try to be a cheapskate when it comes to tools....never worth it...buy a half decent starter set ( like Halfords pro)...then just buy the best you can afford of any one individual tool that you need for each specific job as it comes up. if I can learn ( and im a stoopid girl who doesn't even know where the screen wash goes in the car) then anyone can. I went from scared to even undo a fairing bolt ...to these , inside of a year

Wedge something between the moving pistons to hold them still whilst pumping out the sticky one(s). Soak the new seals in brake fluid before fitting, and also lubricate the pistons with brake fluid before popping them back in

do you mean sprocket cover?ive traced the cable to the clutch housing , and theres a threaded bit with a nut either side , holding the cable , im guessing I can adjust it there ????

ok have fitted new levers to suit my tiny ickle hands, but havnt got enough adjustment on the cable at the lever end to pull the biting point further away from the bars.....by the time ive got it tight enough the threaded bit isn't really in the bracket. can I adjust it from the clutch end...if so how ??

oh, and also ( and sorry to be hogging the post , but im somewhat an expert in being short , and I do mean very short) don't make the assumption that the rear can be lowered as much as you want...theres a limit to how much you can drop any bike....class example is the zx9 I bought...40 mm max kit available...could possibly have pushed it a smidgen...but to get my feet down it would've needed 80mm....not even close to feasible.( and yes to balance the front it would've been bouncing off the hugger before it was even close to enough)

oh and just on a side note if she fancies something sporty with a bit of oomph, my R6 is going to be up for sale very soon...fully lowered, properly balanced back and front , and with seat reduced. now that would be perfect for her

hi, firstly , the bandits a tall bike to start with , so possibly not the most obvious one to lower. if shes 5'2 , depending on her inside leg , most bikes will lower, but maybe not to flatfoot. the other issue to consider is weight, its possible to ride without both feet touching down ( I have the tip of one toe at a time on the floor on the r6, cant reach with both), but the bike will need to be relatively lightweight to manage like that. and confidence plays a big part too. why is she fancying a bandit over the sv? how long has she been riding, and whats her inside leg .? what is it that she looks for in a bike ?

are you dead set on the zzr mate ? only asking as i'll be selling a really good thundercat very soon, full mot on it , and all new fairing last year....bullet proof bikes, nice and big for a 600, great for a first big 'un, and pretty much bulletproof
