  1. If I were you, I would go with my gut feelings It is quite common to have to go back and complete the cbt however most would start you off on a standard geared bike, unless you are 16. The instructor does sound pretty unprofessional, a lot of instruction is about instilling confidence and this guy doesn't sound like its one of his strengths. Camrider have a good reputation (up this way anyway) Although I think maybe a bit more expensive than some.
  2. Think I prefer the first two........or maybe turbo boost. Probably heated grips though
  3. Bonnie - no clutch Speed Four - clutch - I guess because its EFI I can't say I have an issue with it either way I have to put the clutch in on my car too
  4. The chain should be oiled regularly and the tension checked and adjusted periodically. Generally it gets slacker as it gradually stretches and the tension is increased by loosening the back wheel nut and then adjusting the small screws to move the wheel backwards slightly, increasing the tension. The sprockets wear over time too so should also be checked or the chain could slip. If the chain is well adjusted, clean and oiled then it and the sprockets will last a lot longer. The length of time it will last will vary depending on the bike, riding, mileage, quality of the chain and how well it is looked after and kept rust free. The less robust chains on a 125 will probably not last as long but hard to say as it is not propelling a 200kg bike with a 1000cc engine
  5. Also, newer bikes will be fuel injected and don't have chokes, the computer controls the fuel delivery
  6. Does 10am on Sunday actually exist?
  7. Fab photos, were they done by yourselves or the track?
  8. Try before you buy, even if you end up ordering on line because of a deal I'm between sizes in most Sharks I've tried. I think its a good brand, that model has a 4star Sharp safety rating £119 seems to be a fairly standard price for it on t'interweb so I wouldn't be too sold on the 'discount'
  9. Sounds like 'B' is a lot better than your old instructor and well done for persevering I think getting the cycle out is a good idea - most people starting out on a motorbike are lucky enough to take that skill for granted. BTW - being able to ride a bike in a straight line at walking pace is a valuable skill - you'd be surprised how many people find that really hard
  10. White Swan was reasonably busy. Think quite a few of the Marina crowd now go to the Missing Sock over towards Newmarket way on a Tuesday night. Perhaps we could meet over there Darren. Roads not too interesting from our place though
  11. Yep, its a new bike son its worth seeing if Honda will sort it. Once its sorted then application of ACF50 on metallic parts after cleaning and drying will help prevent rust. It will also help take off minor rust. Autosol is good for cleaning up more seriously discolored parts and wet kitchen foil (honest) for cleaning downpipes. You can also get bike covers that fold up small into a bag that may be useful for work.
  12. Awesome video. Coming down looks scarier than going up! I've driven those sort of roads but never on a bike
  13. There's a small rubber blade on the left thumb of some gloves for clearing your visor but turning your head also works well. I have a Triumph textile jacket that i bought for £35 a few years ago - thats about as close as you can get to waterproof and its been challenged a few times
  14. Going out soon but just tesco via a circuitous route. I have to do some revision this weekend as I have an exam a week on Tuesday.
  15. Another brick in the wall Pink Floyd
  16. Tango mounts it on the bike and it took a bit of experimentation to find a good location with minimum vibration. Quality seems pretty good. It also breaks the footage up into chunks which makes it easier to look back over later
  17. Out of those two the first one has some naff reviews and the second ok but no waterproof case. Check out the reviews section on this forum, there are a few for cameras. Tango has a SJ1000 (i think) which seems pretty good and is in budget
  18. They've proved they can dress up though. Just need to pretend.
  19. Weird - but raising money for Prostate Cancer research: http://www.gentlemansride.com/
  20. Let us know that you got back safely. Tango and me are home and the bikes are unloaded. Amazingly good weekend - we thoroughly enjoyed it - Think the Lower Lode Inn is a great new home for the TMBF Rally. Looking forward to next year already
  21. Just back home - made good time and didn't get wet Awesome weekend - great pub/campsite, good roads and fantastic company Particular thanks to Sue and Ian for providing the entertainment and to Stu for organizing. I'll post some pictures later
  22. Met Office and BBC weather seem to think its going to be mostly dry, just the risk of a few scattered showers. Who knows? Who cares? Still haven't decided between leather or textiles
  23. We'll be travelling back on the Sunday (after recovering) and would be more than happy to help pitch a tent ready for when you arrive on the Friday.
  24. You forgot the 'tw@ting around in fancy dress' bit
