  1. One of my colleagues is over at the TT at the moment. They chose to ferry and camp this year so I'll ask him for an estimate when he gets back. I've been to the IOM a few times in the past but not during the TT and I think they tend to hike the prices up for the fortnight.
  2. I bought this one at the BMF show this year for £120 - The normal price is around the £150-£160 mark so it is mid priced one. The criteria I was looking for particularly were Good fit (obviously this is going to be a very individual thing) Weight (my Shoei Duotec felt particularly heavy after a while) D-ring fastening or similar (with a clip one I find the fit loosens over time and you only tend to notice when you hit the motorway and it gets wrenched backwards) Visibility I've been really pleased with this lid so far. I have quite a few problems finding helmets that fit well. I was looking at the Shark lids but the Small was too big and the XS gave me an instant headache. I have a similar problem with a lot of makes which is why I've had two Shoeis so far. The helmet is extremely light and comfortable for long periods of time. We did a 225mile round trip last weekend with a fair few slow bits, stopping off etc.. so I spent at least 5 hours wearing it and had no problems with it becoming uncomfortable. The fastening does not appear to loosen with wear Visibility is one of its best features. It has very wide peripheral vision so is great for motorway/dual carriageway lifesavers and generally feels very non-claustrophobic. It also has good ventilation so is not prone to misting up which was a real problem with my previous lid. It has a 5 star Sharp safety rating and rated for track use (if you need that) I would have liked a drop down sun visor which was why I was looking at the Sharks but it wasn't enough to put me off the lid. It makes a weird noise when you turn you head for a lifesaver and generally isn't particularly quiet but not as noisy as the duotech All in all, highly recommended
  3. Depends a bit on how easy it is currently to keep up with your regular payments, bike, rent etc.. and how much of an impact £200 extra is likely to make. People have a habit of living to their income (or thereabouts ) so you may see little difference over time. Personally I think a bonus is a bonus and, as long as you can afford to, it should be used for something special. I get an annual bonus and in the past when things were a bit tighter it was used to pay off accumulated debts/overdraft but now it goes on a holiday (after paying off smaller accumulated debts ).
  4. Sorry Dave We should've posted with a bit more notice but the timing was a bit dependant on weekend beer intake, the weather and getting my brakes done
  5. 225 mile round trip today - rain held off until nearly home...result The Old Post Office Sandwich Company changed hands (and name) about 2 years ago so there's no sign. We had a chat with the current owner. ST at Hartford Marina . we hadn't bothered with this tag until now! Bonnie at Hartford Marina Bonnie at the former Old Post Office sandwich company ST and the Old PO sandwich company Bonnie at Cadwell Park ST at Cadwell Park ST and Bonnie at Willingham Woods
  6. Nice East Anglian odyssey today - 150mile round trip..... Bonnie at Snetterton Circuit
  7. I go for a sequined corset and tafeta tutu myself........and knee pads
  8. Latest forecast looks like we may avoid the rain (here's hoping) but better Sat than Sun. We'll probably be up and about fairly early on Saturday Neil and, no problem, we can bring stuff back for you.
  9. We're heading there tomorrow afternoon with the tent - just loaded the car with camping stuff - we have to take my wayward 14yo son with us so need the bigger tent. Hopefully set up and then go back home and pick up Bonnie for the weekend as we are only down the road. Sounds like most people are going on Sunday so we'll be at the entrance then. I'll have to go home again for the car later on the Sunday though but it means I'll have a car there if anyone has any loot they want transporting.

    Judder

Sounds like mine and that's caused by a slightly warped disc - I've a new one to fit when I get the chance. The other possibiity could be sticking calipers I guess.
  11. Eek doesn't look like much fun Foot is a neat job though
  12. Was good see everyone. It was a well organised run. The marshalls blocked off roundabouts on the way through to keep everything moving so it was a reasonable speed and not too many bottlenecks considering the number of bikes. Bonnie was embarassingly dirty so it was out with the autoglym and polish when I got back. Here are a few photos: Lining up at Wheelfit arriving in Hunny Good turnout and it was free to park on the green for once! Sierra Tango and Bonnie
  13. Running the bike should charge the battery not deplete it so the battery could be knackered or a problem with the rectifier which charges the battery. If the battery is flat then that is the most likely problem. It isn't difficult to check the fuses though - probably two or three fuses in a rubber holder under the footplate or behind the front fairing. They will probably the blade type and there may be spares. Usually the plastic of these fuses is see-through so you can see if they have blown.
  14. Possibly the main fuse has blown
  15. It may have the same engine as another model such as the Speedfight. Also Haynes do a generic scooter manual that may help you identify parts.
  16. Hopefully you may be able to work outside now the weather has dried up a bit! Starting an engine in an enclosed space is not a good idea, you could poison yourself with carbon monoxide. Work on it indoors if you must but get it outside to start it. try this site for a downoadable manual: http://scootercommunity.com.au/files/fo ... 79000.aspx
  17. Some of it is styling but women, on average, have slightly different shaped feet, are generally shorter so less distance between foot and calf and generally less straight legs (curvier calfs). This means that we often find it hard to find boots that fit well. Having said that, I tried on loads of 'ladies' boots only to settle on standard Sidi Black Rains because they fit the best. I have quite big feet though (6 1/2 or 7 to allow for thick socks) so can usually choose from 'men's' ranges as well
  18. I have leathers and textiles but not of a 'power rangers' type (which would look a bit daft with a Bonnie) and I sometimes wear leather trousers (for the abrasion protection) with a textile jacket for weather protection. I wouldn't spend £400 on leathers though - mine were second hand and free but the most I've paid for any motorbike jacket is about £50 and most of my gear is quality stuff. If you feel you must have them then try one of the shows and haggle. The only thing I don't skimp too much on is a decent lid (even then it has to be a bargain )
  19. Bob's still one tag ahead of me. Would've done Snetterton yesterday if the weather had been better Not that I'm competitive or anything
  20. The Cricketers at Ickleford:

    Air filter issue

My daughter reckons she can get just over 60 out of her CG (probably downhill with a following wind ) I'm guessing you may be able to improve things a bit but probably not by much. Not to be rude but how much do you weigh?
  22. I have the same problem - most women's legs are just more shaped than most men's. You can get specific ladies boots that may fit better but generally its just a case of trying lots on until you find something that fits. I have Sidi black rain evos (ironically as does my OH) and these are OK or me
  23. Forecast not looking too good at the moment - gear's gotta dry out from today first
  24. Tango and Bonnie at the Crazy Fox, Rutland. Still haven't done the Hartford Marina....... Tango at the Fox with Ian (Golach), Martin, TC, Jo and Cat Bonnie at the Fox
