Is this a good clothing deal?
Bonniebird replied to The Joker's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
The NEC bike show is next month and you don't live too far from there so it may be worth waiting. Personally I'd see what you can pick up there. Most of my gear is Triumph (other makes available) - my waterproof textile/leather jacket with removable thermal lining, full knox armour, high vis piping etc.. cost me about 40pounds there a couple of years back - RRP nearer 200pounds. Matching gloves were a tenner I think at a different bike show Just to give you the idea of what you can find. -
Same thing happened to me up at Rutland, that was just a loose terminal too. Fortunately Fozzie and Lucky sorted it. You live and learn.

Advanced training..
Bonniebird replied to Milligan's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Let me know how you get on because I'm Captain Slow as well and that is what is really putting me off doing something like this - I've heard that they push you to do everything at speed. I think I'm fairly safe (probably too safe ) so perhaps advanced training would be better than Bikesafe. I enjoy bimbling about on my own (or out with Bob/Tango cos he has too put up with me/wait for me to catch up ) but trying to keep up on bigger rideouts is just embarrassing. I don't think being self-concious helps my riding either. I'm happy at speed on motorways or riding around town but I want to get quicker at cornering in the twistys but not at the expense of scaring myself to death or wrecking the bike. -
Sounds like time to find a new garage!!!

Congrats!!! Sounds like quite a day! -
Looked that way to me too, a horrific crash!! RIP

It was a good run out yesterday, plenty of bikes on the road enjoying the weather. I had a sneaky run on Saturday as well while Bob was out with his boys. The only thing that marred it was hearing about Simoncelli's accident when we were at the coffee van in St.Neots. We hadn't been watching so it came as a bit of a shock

Should people who pass DAS have some kind of restriction
Bonniebird replied to Boothy's topic in Motorbike Chat
Couldn't possibly comment Bogof Engine restriction is a pretty blunt weapon. Most 'big' bikes can do 100mph plus and out accelerate most cars, its what goes on between the ears that makes someone 'safe' or 'unsafe'. Insurance premiums are based on risk, age of rider, 'type' of bike, capacity of bike, BHP, location, whether you use it for commuting, whether you take a pillion, likely mileage etc.........No legislation can take all that into account. -
Ditto If you try and modify it too much you'll probably blow the engine up

Should people who pass DAS have some kind of restriction
Bonniebird replied to Boothy's topic in Motorbike Chat
I think the rules around riding bikes are complicated enough. Car drivers are not restricted to power or engine capacity. Generally the affordability of insurance is more of an inhibition to riding more powerful bikes or driving more powerful cars. Perhaps insurance companies should hike the premiums more on higher capacity bikes for less experienced riders and give the rest of us a break! If people are rich enough and daft enough to still go for a ridiculously powerful bike just after passing their DAS then its up to them. One way of getting rid of them and closing the income gap Either that or anyone riding a bike of more than 100bhp within a year of passing has to display a warning sign saying 'I am a *****' (insert insult of your choice) so other road users can take evasive action. -
I actually like driving too, I am a terrible passenger! Its a wonder that no-one has thrown me out of their car in the middle of a dual carriageway I'm not a good passenger either and I have a strange driving style, leaning round corners, creeping up to red traffic lights so I don't have to stop, insisting that my passengers sit behind me and keep still........some of the filtering has been interesting too......but I always do my lifesavers

Car mileage - 25-30K per year (mostly work) Bike mileage 1-2K per year (all fun) I have to confess that I like driving (most of the time) Sad, isn't it......?

My newly installed indicators dont work! Please help
Bonniebird replied to alex15969's topic in Pitstop
Seems pretty suspicious that you have just had new indicators and now have problems IMO. The two are likely to be related. Wondering if there's an electrical short in there somewhere
