We didn't get lost this time....well not very lost Good to see Seawolf84 making a start. Our local pub, The White Hart, is featured yet again. Cheers Selcan

Blimey, I look enormous in that photo - I was wearing about 6 layers though Here's a picture of the view from the terrace and Tango getting stuck in his jacket......

Failed my CBT but.......
Bonniebird replied to rew632's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
The Duchini lid has a sharp rating of 4 stars which is pretty good for a budget helmet. Caberg, Laser and few others have a rating of 5 stars for under £100 so they would be worth a look too. Try before you buy - most good shops can give you advise on whether the fit is good - should be snug but not painful Would agree with Susie on the rest of the kit - you can get away with safety-boot type footwear but I'm not a fan of laces on bikes - bike boots are better. Its worth trying gloves on because badly fitting ones can get extremely painful after a while, particularly on your right hand. -
Failed my CBT but.......

Welcome to the forum We all learn at a different pace and, if you have never been on a bike or the road before then it sounds like you have made great progress. There are a few training companies that take your money and just churn out CBT certificates - this ISN'T what you want. Motorcyclists are very vulnerable on the road so you need to be safe and the job of the instructor is to only give you your certificate if they are confident you are ready. Riding a bike well is part technique but it is also physical and a lot of it is in the mind, when you are nervous it is difficult to control the bike well, I'm sure at your next session you will know more what to expect, and you'll be able to relax more. The icy conditions certainly don't help. Best of luck in getting your CBT certificate - let us know how you get on -
Nice pics Neil. Bike needs washing though We didn't get out this weekend as we had stuff to do and wanted to do some work the bikes - only got as far as changing my plugs though because of problems and poor light. Still have oil change and chain adjustment on Bonnie and Bob has everything to do on Tango

Poor Ben! I reckon he has more accidents to skew the statistics and make the roads safer for everyone else!
-
I've some Red Route ones as well - They're OK but Tango's Hood jeans are better but more expensive. I'd recommend ones with knee armour, not just kevlar.
-
We want to do a Rutland run soonish to pick up the Tag at the cafe. Also Bob couldn't make the meet in October so it will be some different roads. Perhaps we could meet up there.

Today I was mostly wearing..... tights Thermal leggings Textile trousers Thick socks Sidi boots Two thermal tops TMBF hoody Lined textile jacket Thermal buff and I was still bl@@dy cold!! We went to Saffron Walden where there is a Railway pub and then to (not sure where) a Royal Oak in S.Cambridgeshire. The King's Head and King's Arms we were looking for eluded us though in spite of several diversions so will have to have another run to complete the pub challenge. Just short of 100mile run. Just warming up and need to wash the salt off the bikes when they've cooled a little so will post the pics a bit later

Going to head over to Saffron Walden/South Cambs way to add Railway Kings Head Kings Arms Royal Oak (other pubs also available) We probably wont leave too early as will be waiting for the frost to clear a bit before setting out.

We normally take the tent so we can beer up in the evening even though it's only up the road

We were debating whether to bother going this year but I read this in 'Motorcycle Rider' this evening: 'New too will be the introduction of a proper real ale bar and real cider bar (so far 20 ales have been agreed!) and within this area we'll have live blues music too.' OK, I'm sold!

for all the good it does, you might as well stick it up your......... Autosol??

coming to a stop - downshifting
Bonniebird replied to tryme's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Tend to change down and creep up to lights, junctions in a lower gear so I can avoid having to stop if possible and I'm in the right gear to pull away smoothly. Tend to put it in neutral when stopped at traffic lights -
CAR HELP: PUG 107 - Scraping / squeaking noise while drivin
Bonniebird replied to Ryder2889's topic in Pitstop
I'd be inclined to agree that may be something caught under the car or a stone. Actually, something like this happened to me a few years ago. I took my car out after there had been a lot of high winds and there was a scraping noise when I hit the dual carriageway. I stopped on the hard shoulder and had a quick look under the car but could see nothing so I dropped into a local garage. A long branch had wedged itself under the car and was dragging on the ground - needless to say I was a bit embarrassed when they pointed it out to me -
Just to add that the Tag100 challenge is really effective at getting us out on our bikes and down new roads and to new places (not too sure about the cart track that Tango led me down mind you, i've always wanted to try greenlaneing, just not on a Bonneville). Here's me warming up with a coffee, waiting for my foot-long hotdog at the Super Sausage (highly recommended) and wearing my TMBF hoody (nice and cosy) excuse the helmet-hair!!

Mine and Tango's from today: Plough at Bolnhurst Red Lion - not sure exactly where - we were a bit lost Rose and Crown - still lost! Jacks Hill Cafe Super Sausage Cafe
-
Just back and warming up with a coffee, nice to see you Whitedevil - took a different scenic route back but a bit dark and wet by the time we got home. Mind you, if we hadn't got lost on the way over we wouldn't have found two of the pubs Picked up the Sausage, Jack's Hill and Silverstone + three more pubs - really nice run. Will post the pics a bit later

Trip to the Nurburgring April 2012 anybody?
Bonniebird replied to RiffmasterII's topic in General Rideouts/Meets
Black Forest would be a bit of a trek from there but it isn't far from the Koblenz - Bingen part of the Rhineland which is very scenic, or over into Luxemburg. -
Think your nearest 'King's Head's are Carlisle and Berwick - not THAT far over the border. We don't have too many famous bridges in these parts, nothing much worth bridging!
