  1. Korben, when you show a spoiler mate, make sure you write a few lines before it, so when I hover over the post before clicking on it, it doesn't show the result. Cheers bud!

    Slipping Clutch

Could be clutch plates or springs, or even a worn clutch basket (but I doubt it). My experience of changing clutch plates are its incredibly easy, but I'm not sure how difficult it is on your bike.
  3. They tend to be ok for upto a 125cc, but they do come apart sometimes. With larger bikes I usually fit a new chain and sprockets myself, fit the split link, then ride to the motorbike shop so they can fit a rivet link for me.
  4. I'm not saying its a great idea having a £5 helmet, but if he's skint then its a start. I'm sure as time moves on he'd love to buy a brand new helmet that nobody else has worn. Imagine if you were young, just bought a motorbike, managed to insure it and bought yourself a helmet from a carboot, I know if it was me I would be iching to get out riding and no amount of wise words from anybody would stop me. Its just if you read this thread and some others just like it, some of you make it sound as though if you haven't got a Gundam Motorbike Helmet (http://www.bornrich.org/entry/2500-gundam-motorcycle-helmet/) then your going to have a catastrophic accident.
  5. That's not an insult mate. That's a smilie showing he agree's with you... We have it on as it's funny.
  6. Was your helmet £5 from a car boot sale voodoo? Lol, what I'm saying is sometimes a £5 helmet is safer than a £300 one. I think he's doing well and using his intiative to get himself on the road. I'm sure if he had loads of money he'd go out and buy an expensive helmet. If he rides safely and can work out exactly where the dangers are on the road then that'll be worth a lot more than any protection a helmet can offer.
  7. Whats more dangerous, sliding down the road head first in a £5 full face helmet or sliding down the road head first in a £300 open faced helmet? Also is it more dangerous riding along in a £5 helmet that allows you to turn your head right round so you can see behind you, or in a £300 helmet that has such a large chin piece that you can not physically turn your head far enough round to see behind you?
  8. My old CBR600 used to do that, you couldn't restart it for about 5 minutes if it was hot. I never did find out what caused it though.
  9. and replace the seat, ensuring it is clicked into place. NOTE: your helmet is secured by the strap so can be stolen by cutting the strap. best to use a small cable and lock.. if someone wants to cut my helmet to get it then let them, its bloody useless to anyone after that.....i doubt that would ever happen i tend to only use them where i stop and there are lots of bikes around anyway and i cant be arsed to carry it....MFN is one place Cutting the strap is very useful to a bike thief. He then has a helmet to ride off on your bike with!

    temp quage on r1 99

Should be reading in the 70's, maybe there is an airlock where the sensor is!
  11. Foz, if your bike is a 125 it could well have a split link, in which case you don't need a chain splitter. If its over 125, forget what i've just said
  12. Thats made me feel better, mine was just under £400
  13. Selling secondhand bikes theres always things that go wrong, and try as he might not every bike can be perfect before it gets sold. I always think its the way they sort out any problem that counts, and I've always been more than impressed with that bike shop.

    cr250 gearbox

I had a bike that had the same problem. To fix it I drilled a small hole smack bang in the middle of where the teeth should grip each other and inserted a small dowel (i.e a nail). Then when I tightened the nut it was ok
  16. Was that the race where Haslam had a wildcard ride on a Norton rotary like he raced in the BSB but they'd made it 500cc?
  17. I remember watchin that, he was probably my all time favourite racer
  18. Maybe the batteries on its last legs

I've got some funny stories about Will, but I think I'd get banned if I put them on TMBF

    Fuel Gauge

I've bought most of my bikes from Bob at Ace, know him 20 odd years now. You should take it back, to see what he says. He's always been superb when I've had a problem with a bike. To get from Chester its really easy.
