  1. Then they were going too fast anyway probably
  2. I always brake, right upto the apex of the corner with the brake being released all the way until I hit the apex. The reason I do this is so the suspension is compressed and if I need to brake more, then it doesn't unsettle the bike. I alway use both brakes too.
  3. Out of all the Ferrari's and Lambourgini's I've come across whilst on my bike, I'd say without a doubt one of the fastest cars 0-100 was the Ariel Atom and round corners its like their on rails.
  4. Nice to see you Grim, but once we got to the Ponderosa I didn't see where you'd parked and so not knowing what you looked like without your bike and helmet on I couldn't say hello. Here's a few photos from the day. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee259/Voodoo1972/DSC00081.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee259/Voodoo1972/DSC00083.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee259/Voodoo1972/DSC00084.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee259/Voodoo1972/DSC00085.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee259/Voodoo1972/DSC00086.jpg
  5. Right because no ones registered, I'm skipping the Cat & Fiddle and going on the charity ride instead.
  6. Do you mean the Cat & Fiddle or the Ponderosa?
  7. what sort of pace is it likely to be? for instance, last week left at 08.30, Stockport to the ponderosa to barmouth, round Bala both ways. home again for 1.30. 375 miles. just askin, not trying to be confrontastional I can go any speed, fast or slow. I'll have a passenger too, so I do try and keep my speed down. If your slow don't worry, I don't leave anybody behind, and if your fast, don't worry either, I'll not hold you up!
  8. This one! http://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=15177
  9. As usual, this is weather dependant, but I'm sure the weathers going to be great. Set off from Cat & Fiddle at 10.30am Route
  10. i would start a seperate thread with all the relevant details on it so that it is all in one place ( ps cant beleive your missing out the cat and fiddle  ) I can't believe they're missing out Matlock Bath when they're only about 1 mile away
  11. I've beem to the May rally a few times but not the September one, is this show as good? Are there millions of stands etc..?
  12. I used to have a bike that ran fine until I went over 50mph. It'd run for a minute or two then it'd konk out and wouldn't start for 5 minutes. The problem was bits of paint that had flaked off in the tank. I assume that when I went over 50mph the vibration caused the bits to rise in the fuel and thats what caused the problem. I never had a filter on that bike and so I used to have to clean out the carb, which once done, the bike ran fine for at least twenty minutes even over 50mph and then it would start all over again.
  13. I know this sounds strange but have you got an inline fuel filter?
  14. I'm out, the weathers going to be rubbish. Make it another time and I'll join ya's
  15. I guess you've already done this but I thought I best just check, they usually have a screw underneath the pipe that needs removing before you try and pull the baffle out. (It took me ages once, because I didn't know this ) Oh one more thing, twist as you pull
  16. caustic soda. nasty stuff but effective. Thats the stuff!
  17. Your right, it will expand but hopefully the exhaust will expand too, as for warming it up, I just mean run the engine for a while. Once you get the baffle out though, if it is covered in carbon, you'll notice a huge difference once its clean. I used to clean mine with a blow torch to burn the carbon off and get it glowing red. There is also a liquid you can get if the baffle was a non-removable type, but you'd need to remove the whole exhaust to use it.
  18. Give it a try when its hot, just be careful not to burn your fingers
  19. Cheapest way http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee259/Voodoo1972/BenchPress.jpg
  20. In some countries and certain states in America it is illegal to wear headphones but riding but in the UK it is not as far as I know. Personally I wouldn't worry about that though, because at the worst you'd get a fine or loose your license if it was against the law. The thing you should be thinking about is how much damage your doing to your ears. They recon a deciBel limit of upto 90db is safe for about 8 hours. I think the law in Britain for employers to issue you with ear protection is around 87dB. Riding at 50mph the dB rating would probably be already over 90dB. For you to hear your stereo at this speed it would need to be turned up to at least 90-100dB. At high speeds the wind noise on a motorbike can easily be above 110dB. I'm not sure how much you know about dB ratings but to give you an idea 80dB is twice as loud as 70dB and 90dB is twice as loud as 80dB.
  21. Very sad indeed. Must say though, after watching the video on youtube, it really didn't look like that much of a bad crash. I know the rider behind may have clipped him but he was going the same speed so the impact wouldn't have been that much greater.
  22. They used to do a nice little tank bag in Aldi which also turned into a rucksack. Only cost about £10 and its far better than the other tank bags I've bought that cost £40-£50
  23. I don't think they're as good as they could be. The comfort bit would need to be at the front of the rider to be of any use, which is a bad idea because thats where the fastenings are. I use love handles for my pillions and find then to be great, but on the odd occasion I've fastened them, I havent pushed the clip in enough but you still hear the click and so think they're secure. Luckily I wear them backwards so if the clip does come unfastened its only under braking and the pillion falls into me. Infact looking at that picture, it looks like if one of the clips snapped or wasn't fastened properly, regardless if it was worn backwards that thing would completely fail!
