missed this thread!! I took a ride out to Southend on Sea today - great weather, and loads of bikers out. could have done with some company though

Idiot driving the merc deliberately blocking bikers from overtaking on Southend sea front. Traffic was crawling along at 5mph and he moved over to the right to block me and other bikes from filtering past... No worries though, I dropped behind him, and quickly took him through the huge gap he'd left on his left. this made him move left and the bike who was following me took him on the right!! Worked a treat - bet he was fuming with rage though! Nob.

One of the two dodgy old gits on the beaten up Hondas that turned up and slagged off all our bikes at the rally, maybe? My thoughts too..

Just found a blob of chewing gun stuck under the tail unit of my bike!! What sort of low life tw@t does that to another guys bike??

Glad you got it back, but if someone dumped my bike outside unlocked without telling me it was there I'd be furious!! Not to mention uninsured!! (Too close to home and not in my garage)

My guess is that it returns with no MOT.. Got to say you have more patience than me. I would have gone mental by now... Certainly wouldn't pay him any money.

Was the alarm brand new when you bought the bike? Regardless of warranty if you bought it from a garage it needs to be "for for purpose" and only lasting 2months is certainly not fit for purpose. Read up on the "Sales of goods act" and go back to them informed of your rights...

Bike mounting is a bit of a dark art, but i think it gives the best results. so many parts of the bike are vibrating that its tricky to find a good spot.

My fave cam at the moment is the "Mobius" camera - nice and small and lots of cool features - you need to spend about 15quid on the waterproof case if you need it to be waterproof...

The square one will make you look like a tit! I have the second one. Its not bad. Cheaper on eBay though. What's your budget??

Won't hurt to read the highwaycode! The more you know before you get there, the less time they'll spend teaching you and the more time you'll get out on the bike!!

General rule of thumb is to do a lifesaver to check you're not about to pull into the path of another road user. So for example, if sat at a t-junction turning Left, once you decide its clear to proceed, do a lifesaver over your LEFT shoulder to look for any crazy cyclists etc undertaking you. In this situation, there would be little point doing a right hand lifesaver - what would you see? and if you did see something, what could you do about it other than pull left to get out of its way? Also, if you take too long looking behind you, more traffic might arrive making it dangerous to pull out... EDIT: thats my opinion but do what your instructor tells you that you need to do to pass your test!

Just to clarify, So did you connected nothing to the +ve of the car battery? And both wires to earth on the car, thus shorting the bike battery??

I think Joeman has a switch on his Beemer for that. Had to lift up her seat and plug in a funny looking red thing first though... Maybe try that on the wife??

Plastic hooks would still be quite pointy and capable of scratching paintwork. Plus my bike doesn't have many places to hook onto. These ROK straps could wrap round the rear subframe..

Wish I'd had some of those for the rally!! I bought a dry bag but I didn't want to use metal bungees as they would damage my bike so I ended up with loads if stuff in a rucksack which killed my back. These would have been the ideal solution!!

We've all been sucking too many exhaust fumes that's why! We're all a bit messed up lol

Need to attach a pressurised container of pigs blood inside, so as they cut through with a grinder it explodes and covers them in blood!! And a little note to say "congratulations, you now have AIDS"... That should scare the sh1t out of them and send them running to the showers..
