  1. nice one - congrats. Now the real learning begins...
  2. I was thinking i might just order my tent to be delivered to the venue.... lol
  3. Just a random shot i found in my Google Plus photo album... The GSX-R600 actually looks bigger than the S1000RR.
  4. On a lighter note, my F**K it is that ive found another bike...! My mum has a couple of old derelict sheds in her garden filled with crap that my Granddad collected over the years, so at the weekend we decided to start clearing one out with a view to demolishing it to make way for a new summer house... The shed is well and truly knackered its falling over, the roof has caved in, and its full of spiders, cobwebs and rat poo. In amongst all the junk i found a bike! It's nothing special, just a Puch moped, but never the less, i now have another bike i need to deal with... I think that brings my total to 8 bikes plus countless buckets of spares....... F**K IT - I really need a clear out!!
  5. Did you try going too slow, and just when your instinct is to put your foot down, to give it more gas instead?
  6. just try riding round in circles, get tighter and tighter until you are at full lock and cant turn any sharper. keep going until you've mastered it in both directions, or until youre too dizzy to ride!
  7. Are the barmaids hot? Could be a deal breaker if they're not...
  8. My factory fitted alarm is auto arming.. Its not very loud though. Thinking I might bring the car. Riding home Sunday with a massive hangover whilst overheating in leathers won't be much fun!
  9. Thanks Joeman. LOL! Yes, I was anxious about 'putting myself in a pigeon hole'. I hadn't considered mounting the brake on the handlebar - DOH! (See how helpful it is to ask for advice?!) I might have a few spins round the block, because it'll be a bugger if I get to the test centre, which is about 8 miles away, and it has all come back, the instructor is rather handsome though...... and if I am still "wobbly" of mind book a half day refresher, and explore getting the brake moved. thanks for taking the time to reply. Jo That's the spirit! My advice would be to run through everything you can remember in your head before getting back on the bike. That way when you are back on the bike it'll all be fresh in your mind. Amazing how that little trick really makes a big difference.
  10. Well I'm all paid up, still not 100% I'll be there, but reserved my spot at the bar anyway. Bit concerned about leaving my bike and all my gear outside unatended whilst were all in the bar. What's the security like there??

    DIY quickshifter

Sideways is cool Have you flipped you gearchange upside down, so 1 up, 5 down gear pattern? easier to keep the pressure on the gear lever that way. Next mod would be to get the switch into the gear linkage, so you can just tap the lever and all the magic happens.

Great idea!! Bet once you get the hang of it its pretty cool.
  13. Halfords selling tents for 20quid...
  14. It will probably all flow back to you, but a half day session won't hurt to jog the memory. Also, there are plenty of options for a handlebar mounted rear brake, so don't resign yourself to a life of moped hell!
  15. Great way to start the day: Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit http://www.napster.co.uk/track/Tra.62558658
  16. This still happening? Im hoping to be home from work early (5pm) Tuesday and Thursday this week, so if there any rideouts and the weather holds up, i'll see if i can get a pass from the mrs.
  17. Yep! Also if you find yourself fighting the weight of the bike, rethink what you're doing. Once a bike is moving its weight shouldnt be a factor. Use the engine to make it go forwards and if you need to go backwards use gravity and the camber of the road to roll it backwards.
  18. Expecting its gonna go a bit like this: Turn up, get drunk, talk bollocks, sleep in a tent, go home... Good result if it does!!
  19. The bloke riding one of those huge scooters in croydon wearing shorts and t-shirt , who insisted on overtaking every car, even at junctions when they were about to turn right! I saw him nearly get wiped out three times, and each time he gestured like it was the car drivers fault!!

    New Bike

Awesome! Welcome the the BMW brotherhood
  21. I'm really hoping to get there - will know for sure closer to the time. Tempted to pay up and if I can't make it, you can just stick the cash behind the bar.
  22. Get the throttle tube off and file out the inside. Its only a plastic tube.
  23. Sounds like it was a case of pre-holiday lazyness. Couldn't be arsed to do your bike so made up and excuse and buggered off on holiday! Lol
  24. Should be able to come to an almost complete stop with both feet on the pegs. Only put a foot down if you actually do stop.
  25. there wont be that much left. a lit match at arms lenght would confirm... worst case you get a "poooooof" and some flames shoot out - it certainly wont explode!
