  1. Not suggesting its a good idea, but you can buy gold stickers on eBay....
  2. Much better price!! Get some footage up soon
  3. Was having a great day, very productive, a couple of pints for lunch, until I popped to the toilet at 6pm and when I got back I found some idiot intern who was too nervous to ask anyone if I was still working had switched off my workstation! WTF??? I had some large file transfers running, some long running database scripts that I set going this morning and expected to finish late Saturday, as well as some unsaved SQL and word documents....all lost... I was incredibly restrained with my response but he was still visibly scared. I didn't even bother switching it back on. So Monday will be spent cleaning up the mess and re-doing the work I lost and re-running the jobs that have been killed mid-flow. They might complete late Tuesday if I'm lucky so monday morning i'll be at least two days behind where I should have been. F#ck it!!
  4. my Sport DV arrived today, so i created "Dog Cam" Then i took it to bits to see how easy it would be to hard wire to the bike... pretty simple i reckon! No chance to try any useful video yet, but from the footage ive shot indoors, it looks ok...
  5. Nice one. I was going to say that when they put the bike together in the factory, they wouldn't have removed the sump or rocker cover as the engine would likely arrive on the production line as a complete unit..
  6. Nice one - welcome to the club... Now what bike you gonna buy???
  7. Do people not know how to bump-start bikes anymore? I had a flat battery in my gixxer, i bumpstarted it, and took it for a good long ride to charge it up. I stopped off in town, went to restart and it was still dead. The battery was knackered. So I had to push the bike across the road, wait for a set of traffic lights to change and ran through the green light pushing the bike before hopping on, dumping the clutch and riding off to buy a new battery!
  8. heres some random, unedited helmet cam footage: "> ">
  9. maybe this is why my gasket blew? [album]1067[/album] Only 1 gear left
  10. I've got an optimate, but I rarely use it. I leave my bikes for weeks on end sometimes and they always start first time on the button without the need for the optimate plugged in. The only times I've used it have been when I know I've left the bike standing for a really long time and need to ride it so i stick it on the optimate until its 'done' just in case. But that's not often. So long as you have nothing draining your battery, you should be able to leave it a long time without needing to charge it up.
  11. Spoke to the Service manager yesterday who agreed that it didnt look good. He's told me to ride it in on Saturday morning and they'll clean it up whilst i wait... Im planning to ask if Silicone is applied in the factory, and if the previous faulty gasket was actually replaced, or if it just bodged with silicone. My view is that it should have been replaced properly, not just bodged. Whilst i wait, i may as well take something for a test ride, so going to see if they have a S1000 (Naked version of the RR) avialable for a spin... will see if i can pop the rocker gasket on that one too
  12. As a bit of a punt, ive purchased one of these for 44quid. hoping it will arrive today. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111181617297 It looks suspiciously like the cvamera from DogCams thats selling for £229 http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/replay-xd- ... amera.html I expect its just a generic, unbranded camera built in china, and then sold by various companies at inflated prices... when it arrives i'll make some movies and upload for you to see the quality.
  13. I'm giving them the day to respond to my email with photos attached before i pick up the phone and start giving them grief. Lets hope they do the right thing and get this mess sorted out. So far ive had a failed alarm system (it was dead the day i went to collect the bike but i took the bike anyway), an oil leak from the rocker cover, and then all this silicone sealant. Clearly BMW standards are not what they used to be and its starting to put me off what would otherwise be a fantastic bike... They need to really up their game a bit if they expect me to buy another bike from them in the future.
  14. yep, my thoughts exactly... any idiot can squirt silicone about!! Im now wondering what the inside of the engine looks like???
  15. Decided this needs its own thread so that people searching the web with the same problem can find it more easily. It doesnt seem to be a common fault, but i have found a couple of other people who had the rocker cover gaskget leak on their BMW S1000RR. Also its a great place to track the progress of the fault. I bought the bike from a BMW main dealer. an all black '13 plate S1000RR, less than a year old with about 2700 miles on the clock. After owning it for a couple of weeks, it sprung a leak and squirted oil down the right hand fairing: I took the bike back to BMW, who held onto the bike for a week, and cured the leak, but on closer inspection, i discovered they had simply added wads of silicone sealant: Now im pretty sure they dont leave the facotry covered in blobs of silicone and with a big chunk of silicone hanging off the side of the engine, so this morning I sent the dealership and email to ask if this is really the quality of workmanship i should expect from a BMW main dealer.... I think unlike most BMW riders, i actually know about bikes and how they work, so i wont be taking any bull$hit excuses. Minor faults are one thing - they can happen to anything mechanical, but there really is no excuse for a silicone bodge-job like this from a main dealership!
  16. Next big one is http://www.acecafeevents.com/margate.html http://www.acecafeevents.com/1508_margate%20leaflet-2.jpg
  17. I was going through the footage last night - there were Thousands of bikes there!! I had to be home for 3pm as i have familiy staying and we'd booked a table for dinner at 4pm... so i got home just after 3pm, lubed the chain and put the bike to bed. Then they decided 4pm was too early to eat, and moved the table booking to 6pm!!! So i could have stayed out another two hours.... I was pretty annoyed... :(
  18. May well have been me! I was there about that time... I got there, did two laps of the seafront, then had to head home to be back with the family, so i didnt even get to stop and walk about was a great turnout though, and the weather was fantastic!! Ive got a load of helmet cam footage, so i'll get some vids uploaded.
  19. No idea what time I'll be there. Just walked the dog, fed the baby, etc etc.. I took the dog for a walk and could hear loads of bikes out on the roads. Great sound!! Look out for me and say hi. Black 13plate s1000rr. Black RST leathers and a blue Shoei lid.
  20. Were going to the seaside so I'm wearing my speedos!!
  21. Pissing down in Sevenoaks at the moment. Weather had better get better for tomorrow..
  22. Looking good people - looking like i might haver permission to abandon the relatives and come out to play on my bike!!

    MOT Woes

Old saying, never turn down work, just quote high.. Sounds like he's trying to mug you because he doesn't really want to do the work. Ask him about other garages in the area, and the ones he says are cowboys, get a second opinion from them. The ones he says are good are probably his mates and will also try to mug you.
  24. 150quid for a 720 camera is a bit steep. You can get 720p cameras for 40quid.. Think its a bit over priced tbh.
  25. Doesn't matter what we buy, we all seem to have a burning desire to change bits on our bikes. You could spend thousands on the bike of your dreams but you would soon have the itch to 'upgrade' something... Why is this?? Where does this crazy idea come from?? Discuss....
