  1. Bosch power tools are too... ive killed three Bosch drills and a couple of power saws...
  2. we all have to start somewhere... and if the little lad already rides quads, he already knows that falling off hurts so hes probably gonna hang on tighter than some 13 year old who's never ridden... just take it easy and ride super safe!!
  3. you only need it short term, so if you go and look at it, and no alarm bells ring, then i would take the gamble. you are not maxing out your affordability, so you have the same cash again to fix any problems, or even buy a whole second bike! but if it does last, then youve saved 50% of your cash and can sell for the same money you paid... Go take a look at it
  4. Number 12 on the diagram.. No wonder it sounded odd in the first video too. That would have been making a popping noise!
  5. Lol, you never told us there was a big bit missing!! No wonder it was starved of fuel, it was sucking fresh air and nothing through the carb! Glad you figured it out though mate
  6. How old is the bike? Still under the manufacturers warranty?? If so yes its covered. If its under extended warranty then it might be excluded.. But give them hell anyway until they replace it
  7. First let's establish you have a little clip on your needle. Then assuming you do, with the needle removed, you'll see about 5 or 6 groves on the blunt end that the clip can go into. You move the clip up the needle (towards the blunt end) to lean out the mixture and down the needle (towards the pointy end) to richen the mixture.
  8. Google Nexus5 is the best phone ever. Great camera, un-scratchable screen, and with Google plus all photos are automatically backed up to the internet ready to share. Buy it direct from goolge play store
  9. Have you set the needle to the correct height?? Normally have a few settings by removing the little clip up a notch to raise the needle to richen the mixture
  10. Pretty sure I have PR3's on my S1000RR. No problems with them so far Edit: this bloke seems pretty impressed with PR3's too. http://geoffjames.blogspot.co.uk/2012/1 ... w.html?m=1
  11. Sounds like fuel starvation in the video... Also sounds like the exhausts not connected?? It needs the exhaust to work properly. Its a two stroke so Dont be running it on neat fuel! Mix up a bottle of premix.
  12. Seriously? Suspension should be set the same on both forks! Unless your front axle is made from rubber and your brake callipers can swivel to accommodate the discs not being parallel to the forks...
  13. Yeah you're right, If I were to buy a 250 I do some money for a deposit and the rest would probably be 2+ year finance. I can see me late next year looking at my 250 with resentment wanting to upgrade but unable to due to the finance. The CBR500R is stealing my heart and possibly wallet at the moment, I would probably have to buy new though yep - nothing worse than being stuck with a bike you dont enjoy! In my view, part of the biking experiance is learning about bikes, how they work, and how to look after them. you dont get that from a new bike. I think you would get much more satisfaction from buying a cheaper old bike, learning to ride and learning some basic maintenance... much more enjoable than buying an expensive new bike and having to keep taking to to the dealer and paying them money just to keep the service history. Also you wont cry so much when you drop an older bike, so you wont be so scared to try new stuff... With a new bike you'll be paranoid about dropping it....
  14. Bikes only go as fast as you tell them to. A 600 is easier to ride than a 250, and will be more practical and less stressed than a 250. Also, within a couple of months you'll find a 250 a bit boring, and you'll be wanting a bigger bike, so you'll either be stuck with a 250 or lose money trading it in for a 600, not to mention the cost of re-insuring... Buy what you see yourself riding in 1 or 2 years time (you will grow into it) not what you think you should be riding now ( you will grow out of it!)
  15. My Gixer with its big brother - the S1000RR
  16. What does he wear?? If he's fully armoured up and ready for a fall, I reckon you probably ought to be too!! All depends where you're riding, how often and how good your hubby is... 20mph round town, and you won't need leathers. 90mph on the motorway and leathers would be a good idea
  17. Epic Pic frenzy thread!! Love it....
  18. Here's a couple of pic of mine to keep the Gixxer lovers happy:
  19. Wet or winter weather doesn't cause you to skid. Risk of a skid may be increased by wet/winter conditions, but ultimately its always the rider's actions that causes the skid (ignoring mechanical failure)

    Mixing tyres

172 results on an Ebay search for crossply. So that would seem to be an emphatic yes. any in a size that will fit a modern bike? i doubt it... they are all for old antique bikes!

Get a pair of BT-023 on there. I have them on my gixxer and they are great.

    Mixing tyres

Can you even buy cross ply tyres anymore??

    Mixing tyres

Exactly! Each end of the bike has different requirements, so my view is that you can select the best tyre for each requirement even if that means different makes of tyre. What tyres you got on there at the moment?

    Mixing tyres

Its not like the each tyre knows what the other tyre is doing, and for typical riding, so long as they are the correct size, I Dont think it would matter. Maybe in the past when tyre quality varied considerably it made a difference, but these days they are so similar, the average rider can't tell the difference. So unless you plan to be leaning the bike right over and getting your knee down on every bend, you should be OK. In fact I read somewhere that even if you replace one tyre with the identical model, the variations in age, and rubber compound from a different batch is the same as mixing tyres...
