  1. How is the camera mounted so that it always stays level?? I've driven the 'Ring in my car and would love to take a bike round there.. Anyone up for a road trip??
  2. Where do you buy parafin from these days?? When I was a kid my mum's village shop used to sell parafin but then sales dropped off and I remember helping my grandad remove the huge steel parafin tank and cut it up for scrap... No idea where to buy it from these days!!
  3. This is what you need!! http://cloud2.baohe.org/allimg/gadgetsmobiletradarcom-1347733981/add-a-pair-of-toolbox-saddlebags-to-your-bike-or-motorcycle-on-the-cheap_1.jpg
  4. Great story Can't help I'm afraid. I was the annoying "Yamaha boy". I turned up to my CBT on my 16th birthday having owned and ridden a bike since the age of ten. But I reckon if you practice by thinking through the movements in your head, the next time you get on a bike it will be easy

    Stupid Question!

Wheel off? Really? Think she meant wheel off the ground.. Not off the bike... At least I hope that's what she meant! Lol
  6. To get a really smooth change, you really need to raise the revs between gears so that the engine speed matches the road speed. So let say in 3rd gear at 40mph you are doing 3000rpm. When you drop to 2nd gear at 40mph the engine needs to be doing 4000rpm. So in fact rather than letting the revs drop right off between gear changes, really the revs need to be raised to allow for a smooth down change. And this is why you hear riders blip the throttle between gears. So yes, its not right that the bike should stall on down shifts, but also I would say it's not right that youre letting the revs get low enough for it to stall... Edit: this link might help to explain http://m.wikihow.com/Match-Rev-Downshift-a-Motorcycle
  7. Less than 50cc and top speed less than 45km/h , and i dont think it matters what it looks like.
  8. You must be really holding the clutch in for a long time. As you aproach a junction in 3rd gear, off the throttle, you must be pulling the clutch long enough for the revs to completly drop to stall the engine, and then letting the clutch out very quickly for it to lock the back wheel..
  9. Different ignition/fuel maps for different gears too.
  10. 13-plate - still under warranty?? take it back! But if youre still rolling and the engine dies, no need to use the starter button, just let the clutch out slowly and bump-start the engine.
  11. Walk away!! you will never be able to sell your bike with an engine with no numbers...

    Stupid Question!

Raise rear wheel, spin it backwards, and only ever clean the bottom of the chain. The problems occur when people spin the wheel in the correct direction and get fingers stuck between the rear sprocket and chain. So by spinning it backwards, you virtually eliminate the problem.
  13. Your 125?? Tight arse. It's 17quid for the whole year and you want to save a months tax by waiting to the end of the month to tax it?? Lol
  14. Awesome story. That's some kind of fate/karma/destiny at work there. Planets aligned to give you what you needed or some other crazy voodoo like that. Whatever, just keep us posted on the rebuild. That's gonna be an epic bike!!
  15. this looks like a reasonable video.. ">
  16. It's easy. On left hand bends keep to the right On right hand bends keep to the left. And if you can't stop in the distance you can see,,slow down!
  17. there is a lot of bodywork on those scooters, but it shouldnt take 3 hours for a professional to change the bearings! and i bet there is a quick way to do it without removing too much body work. sounds like he didnt want to do the work... If you have the time and the tools, give it a go.. whats the worst that can happen??
  18. Nice idea but not sure of that stuff has enough magnetism to work through the filter and keep the particles captive.
  19. I decided i needed to get some cleaning products and lube for my bike, so i have a bit of a shopping spree at Halfords.. think i got a bit carried away! No idea what any of this stuff is like, decided to try all new stuff, so I will give it a go and report back! The big bottle of pink "Bike Cleaner" looked exactly the same as the "Motorbike Cleaner" but it was a bit cheaper... So i reckon it probably is the same stuff just with a price hike for us bikers. The MO94 was only 3quid (special offer i think). it claims to be a "Multi purpose Wonder spray"... i'll be the judge of that!!! anyone used any of these products before?? whats your thoughts??
  20. If someone has changed to number of teeth on the front or rear sprocket that would cause the speedo to read incorrectly. I think most people drop the gearing on the GSXR's to get them to accelerate quicker. On my K7 i installed a speedo healer to correct the problem. There's a thread on here somewhere that details what I did.
  21. So did ya buy it then??
  22. awesome!! welcome to the A-List
  23. I agree that there is no chance of repeal Tango, but also believe that it should always be on MAG's agenda, along with the many achievable targets, anti slip drain covers for one (which also won't happen as it would mean councils/road builders would have to pay for them and not the motorcyclist. a safety concern ? Yes. A way of reducing accidents/injuries/deaths? Yes. Can we get the motorcyclist to pay for it ? No. ok lets not bother). Daylight riding lights have come in through the back door, Hi-Viz seems to be happening more and more. When do we get the leg protectors. Anyone else in Hyde Park in '88 ? I support MAG though I'm not a Member, even if a former National President is a good friend of mine Beepers for when filtering will be next big idea i reckon!! like the talking reverse sirens on dustbin lorries... "Caution, This Vehicle is filtering"...
  24. Welcome to the forum! The test is designed for people who have been trained to pass the test. With no training you had little chance of passing first time. As for slow control and shoulder checks. You need to be doing both but slow control is easier on a bigger bike. Scooters Dont like going slow as the wheels are smaller so you get less gyroscopic effect to hold you upright at slow speeds. I often come to a near complete stop in traffic before putting any feet down. So long as the bike is crawling, you don't need to use your feet
