  1. Or point out that most people die in bed, so in comparison to sleeping, bikes are very safe
  2. whats wrong with keeping the end of the pipe submerged in a jamjar full of fluid?
  3. Nice one!! I was considering digging a trench up my garden to my garage to lay a water pipe for a hose to hose my bikes down. This might just have saved me a lot of digging!!
  4. Evil barstewards!!! I knew it was too good to be true. Least they could do is let us know we won't be getting our freebies. And email costs nothing.
  5. That's the lens I bought the Mrs to take with us on safari to Africa. The stabaliser is great for long distance wildlife shots. (I have no clue about photography) Welcome to the forum BTW..
  6. Dont wait until you get another bike, start riding properly now! The habits you learn now will be very hard to break. If you tried riding a GSXR on rear brake alone you would be sliding all over the place. I really Dont see why you have such a problem braking correctly.

    Exhaust wrapping

It can improve power on turbo charged vehicles as it keeps the gas that turns the turbine hotter. Hotter gasses are expanded more so the turbine spins more than if you let the gasses cool in the manifold... That's the theory anyway!
  8. Always handy to have some cheaper tools for when a second socket of the same size is needed, or when some sacrificial hammer abuse is needed.. Or when someone asked to borrow some..
  9. think they are missing the point... most of us go for a ride, we dont care where we are going, we just ride about!! who needs sat-nav on a bike??
  10. Sell your disc to the OP. You Dont need it anymore (well done by the way)
  11. some stupid questions, but nothing too challenging.. easy pass
  12. never had to do a theory test, but its all multiple choice right? what sort of questions are you getting tripped up on?
  13. yeah, anything to make it too thick to fit the jaws of regular bolt cutters..
  14. Did the front wheel slide out or the rear wheel first? Were you on the throttle? Need a bit more info
  15. Those little holes look windy!! Hope you got some thick socks
  16. Full rebuild. You're gonna have metal fragments all through the bottom end. Anywhere the oil can go, so too can the metal fragments. If a replacement engine is only 300quid delivered that's by far the best option IMO. Time is money and there's a lot of time and replacement parts needed to bring that back from the dead.
  17. Yep, all that missing metal has to have gone somewhere!! I'd still be looking on eBay for a replacement motor as cleaning that mess up will be a big job.
  18. could always just buy a bike with linked brakes
  19. Nice one!! great info... its a big Bosch battery. the bloke from the halfords auto centre just called to say he cant get another that big! ( i bought an extra big one) So i told him to just fit any old battery as the car is going anyway... he mentioned i should be able to get a swap, but would be esiaer if i had the reciept.... will be searching about tonight for it.. not realy happy about having to pay for another, so i'll make sure i negotiate a free one - the info you provided will certainly help!
  20. well stop it!! you are doing it wrong...
  21. Only been riding 5 weeks?? biking takes a lifetime to get good at, but you will never master it completely... You need to consciously use the back brake until its ingrained in your muscle memory.... in time it will become second nature, and will even feel weird if you don’t use it. practice makes (almost) perfect
  22. I reckon some good old silicone bathroom sealant would do the job. it sets rubbery so wont crack.
  23. Trouble is I just dropped the car off at the same branch of halfrauds who couldnt open the bonnet of my other car. I asked if they could try charging the battery (assuming they would have a more industrial type charger) but they told me they are not allowed to put any power into cars in case it breaks any electrical equipment... So my guess is they will just swap the battery I only bought the battery last year so I'm going to see if I can find the receipt. These big batteries cost about 120quid so expensive if I can't.
  24. So I got up early this morning, the optimizer was saying the battery in the jumperbox was fully charged. So I put it all back together, tried it on the car, and nothing. Didn't even turn the engine over once!! Lucky for me a neighbour was close by with his transit to jump start the car from... Looks like some lucky person is going to have a brand new battery in their used beemer
  25. Im part exchanging my car for my new bike. BMW wont take my car without at least 3months MOT, so i've booked it in for an MOT tomorrow. I went to start the car tonight - battery is dead. Put it on the car charger, but its not taking a charge. Went to get my jumper pack, but thats also dead, and i cant find the charger for my jumper pack, so i'm a bit stuffed. Decided to try the Optimate bike charger on the car battery, so i took the seat off my GSXR to disconnect the Optimate4 charger cable, tried that on the car battery - it tried to "save" the battery then started charging - great! left if for two hours, went to start the car - still too dead, and the car charger wont do anything as it thinks the battery is charged, so i think the car battery is well and truly stuffed. Problem is i need to get the car to the MOT station tomorrow, so I need to jump start, so now i've taken the jumpstart box apart, connected the Optimate4 bike charger to the jumper box battery and hoping i can jump start the car from the jumper box in the morning! What a bloody palaver...
