  1. Read this: https://www.gov.uk/changes-to-the-drivi ... categories Did you ever take your bike test? Are you sure you have "A" on your licence? - that would be a full bike licence
  2. welcome... Some pics might help??

    help plz

Riding with no licence, no road tax, and no insurance... well dont, you're setting your own son up for a world of pain, lost licence and a whole bunch of points, and he's probably too innocent to fully understand the consequence of his actions. It seems your parenting skills are about as good as your mechanic skills...
  4. In the 30 yrs that I was fixing cars, vans and anything else that had an engine I never had a bearing press....but I did have a heat gun and lots of patience...even something to align a crank with after splitting it can be made up at home with some common sense... You mean the same kind of common sense that makes sure the engine has oil??
  5. You might struggle pushing some of the bearings out though.. unless you have a bearing press laying about at home!!? Personally, i would strip it down to be nosy, clean up the parts and flog the lot on eBay. let someone else pay for new bearings
  6. Safety wise, yes, a 100quid lid will probably do the same as a 500quid lid, but hopefully you never need it to do its job, which is why comfort and build quality should be the deciding factors. 100quid or 500quid, its still a large investment, so make sure it fits well, isnt too heavy, and feels well constructed. try some of these: Most important - make sure it fits properly! snug, but not too tight to give you a headache! Pull it up and down to see how it moves about - you dont want it lifting at high speed. Try opening and closing the visor a few times, does it look like it seals properly? Take it apart to see how the visor comes on and off. Try the strap to make sure it does up easily (and undoes!) See if it has removable padding so you can wash the inside when it gets stinky! Check the air vents are easy to open when wearing gloves, Make sure you can wear (sun)glasses underneath, See if there is room for earphones for intercom... etc etc.. Basically the more expensive lids do tend to be better quality, but if you're only a recreational biker, the cheaper lids may well be ideally suited to weekend rides, wheres the Shoei's will be better for daily use as they are better constructed IMO.
  7. that well and truly knackered mate... new engine was the best option.
  8. Only put a cheap head in a cheap helmet.. I've always bought shoei. They fit me well, they last well, wind noise is not bad, Pinlock visor never steams up. Few hundred quid for a lid - well worth it IMO.
  9. I thought it was supposed to be fancy dress???
  10. Oh, and i bought some new seals for the old forks too, so i'll still have a go at seal change
  11. Took the bike out for the first time today since fitting the new forks. They are certainly stiffer! Handling felt great, even on default settings, the turn-in was a lot sharper allowing much quicker direction change without the forks diving.. Also braking felt better, not as much nose diving, but i think i need to change my front pads as i think some of the old fork oil got on the pads I just need to mess about with the setup now, as they are possibly a little too stiff now as i got sore wrists after a three hour ride. LOL
  12. I've got one of these tucked away somewhere.. It dropped a valve and destroyed the engine so its owner wanted to get rid of it. I swapped it for a big Mac meal!! Never got round to replacing the engine though..
  13. nice once, knew you would like the BT023's
  14. interesting comparison between GoPro and Sony... ">
  15. For less than £1 I could build a GPS signal jammer. The criminals can too. An even if you did know where the bike was taken, do you expect the police to care??
  16. depends how badly damaged it is... if its "beyond economical repair" they write it off and pay up.
  17. If i had a tracker on there, and i found out who nicked it, i would likely end up in prison after i'd been round to sort them out.. also, if it gets nicked, i dont want it back! i'd rather take the insurance payout and buy a new one...

    Rear Wheel

personally i would take the wheel off, take it all apart, inspect for problems, and re-assemble before trying to get it back on the bike.
  19. YES! Wide open throttle, eyes closed, see how many gears your dare go through... Most awesome feeling ever!!
  20. Lol I do wonder where the whole bike will go where you look came from and how helpful it is as you tend to look where your going, but I can look into fields and stuff but if I don't turn/steer I go straight on. Is it basically allied to leaning off and head position? I like to look up at the sky when riding along...
  21. is now a good time to mention Countersteering????
  22. welcome to the mad house!! yes, not many groups round our neck of the woods mate... maybe we should start one???
  23. How would you expect him to teach you? If you can't coordinate the controls of a geared bike, then giving you a bike with less controls seems the logical first step.
  24. I came to the conclusion that they like the draft as you drive past them... thats why they stand close/In the road.
  25. back in the day, the usual mods were: micron exhaust racing reeds big bore kit hotter plug re-jetting the carb (or bigger carb) change the gearing
